Do you expect ticket prices to drop for Saturday?

Submitted by MaizenBlue93 on November 30th, 2021 at 1:23 PM

I plan on driving down to Indy. I'm willing to wait until kickoff time to buy the tickets. The cheapest tickets seem to be going for $400 after fees. Do you think I'll be able to get anything for $200 if I wait until kickoff to buy? Also, when do they officially stop selling tickets on StubHub? Is it at kickoff or later?

I use Stubhub regularly.  The two things to watch are the price (obviously) and the number of tickets available.  I checked early this morning and there were about 2100, at noon 2300 and currently 2475.  Price has come down slightly.  My strategy is to continue to monitor the tickets available.  Once they get scarce, then the price will obviously increase.  Right now, this is Econ 201, the demand has been reset with the Michigan fanbase and the supply is increasing.  Ergo, price will continue to drop.

Most importantly, buying now is overpaying OSU fans for the loss.  I will happily pay them for my tickets, but no need to send them a big fat check.  I would wait and check back in a few times per day.  One other thing to keep in mind is whether you want mobile or paper.  The paper will need to ship by Thursday or Friday, so those will drop well before game time obviously.

Not necessarily true. Ohio State fans are sitting on tickets because they thought they would be going.  They are the ones that have spiked the market, but come Friday and Saturday if they have not sold there will be a drop.  This is because they will fear not recouping their money.

Tough to say. With this being Michigan's first trip fans are very very hungry. Add in that many buckeyes purchased tickets early in the season assuming they were going and are now either refusing to sell to spite Michigan fans or selling at outrageous prices.

I doubt it.  They've been going up in price every day/hour.  And since we've never been to this game (and Iowa only going once), I don't expect it to get any better.

Cheapest tix seem to be going for $500 after fees. They may drop to like $300-$400 after fees on Saturday right before kickoff but probably not more. This the first time we’re going to the Big Ten title game, I don’t think many Michigan fans will be offloading the tix they’ve already bought. And Michigan fans will pay anything to get in for this experience.

I'm cheap as hell and I looked up ticket prices immediately after the game so that I could drive 8 hours and see the game Saturday night.  Tickets were already sky high so I figured I'd watch it at home and save $1,000 (Tickets, gas, hotel, etc.).

I also immediately looked up National Championship ticket prices.  They were even worse.

I live 45 minutes from Lucas oil. I really wanted to go to both both that would cost me over $3000 for the big ten championship and national championship and they’re not even good seats. Right now the cheapest national championship tickets are $1200. And you know if Michigan makes it ticket prices will go up.

Hell, the five tickets together I bought Saturday are now listed for $400 more per ticket, before fees,  in a neighboring section as of yesterday.  I am tempted to make a couple of grand and check the scalpers at the end of the first quarter.

My guess is they drop.
The reason being is because there are few hotel rooms left anywhere near Indianapolis for Saturday night and I’m not sure how many people are going to want to go watch a game that will likely end close to midnight and then drive 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours to a hotel.

It’s Tuesday.  The two teams involved have been known for three days.  I think if the prices were going to drop, they already would have.

I think there's something to be said about the fact that OSU and Wisconsin both definitely thought they would be going to this game and likely bought tickets. Very well could be holding onto tickets right now to see if someone buys them at a super premium until something like Thursday or Friday and then try to unload them cheaper just to get the cash back.

Unfortunately for OP, I have to imagine this game will be VERY popular all the way until gametime and any cheaper listings will likely be bought up quickly.

Been following closely too.  I was very wrong in which I didn't get them Sunday morning when it was at about $300 a ticket (for 3 seats together. with fees) as I thought it'd go down after some initial "pent-up demand" , but now it's about $500 a ticket (again, with 3 seats together, including fees).

Anyway, I don't think they'll go down much, but I could maybe see a chance they drop a tad bit on the day of, but I am just speculating and could be wrong.

NO!!!

They are probably all sold by now.

You MIGHT get a deal scalping outside the stadium right before the start, but who would want to miss the pre-game excitement for the first appearance by Michigan?

(By deal, I mean $250.00 each.)
