Desmond Morgan Is Now A Coach
Desmond Morgan has begun his coaching career as a GA for Wayne State.

He will be a great head coach one day.
I hope he can come back some day as a positional coach or something to that extent. That would be really cool.
Who the hell hates Santa Clause? That post was good! Whoever would downvote that is a total loser...
Probably the dude that got black socks or underware for Christmas last year.
Hate underware. Keep those metal parts away from my junk.
Whomever hates blacks socks clearly missed the Fab 5 era
I hate Santa. Went downstairs one Christmas and saw him kissing my mom. Ruined my parents marriage, asshole.
I hate to be that guy, but I have to say that this is what happens when you try to grow a large deposit of mistletoe near the birch tree outside the living room window. It grows in shrub-like deposits, you see, and can overhang entire portions of your house, if you're not careful. You might even be lucky that you caught Santa when you did.
Have you ever seen actual mistletoe? We had a big spot in a tree in our backyard. Once in HS I taped a bundle of it to the brim of my ball cap and went around kissing all the girls. It was one of those plans that succeeds beyond expectations.
At least you didn't see him kissing your dad like I did.

I didn't realize that Santa delivered presents to forest animals.
Good for Desmond - I wish him good fortune in his new career!
I do have to wonder, though, about the head coach. Really not sure why he would place an All-Big Ten LB as a GA on the offensive line. But Desmond knows football, I'm sure he'll be alright...
You would think if they can get a GA that just played his whole career under Greg Mattison that they would want him on defense.
It will allow him however to become a more rounded coach as he continues on with his career.
In order to prepare to become a head coach, one should have coaches every position and understand it thoroughly. Otherwise, one would not know what they want from the unit and how to get it from them.

It worked out great for former LB Roy Manning coaching DB's at Michigan.
A lot of coaches coach positions they never played, let alone start out coaching positions they never played. Fisch played tennis. Rich Rod was a safety. Meyer was a defensive back. Drevno started out with TEs and RBs. Fred Jackson was a QB. Carr played QB and came up as a DB coach. The examples are nearly endless.
that must have been exciting!
Oline coaching is tough. There so many variables that you have to be aware of. He's never played that position before so he doesn't have the first-hand experience. But once you understand offensive line concepts, you can be a head football coach and do very well. Best wishes to ya Des!
Exactly. Also helps him scheme against OL if/when he goes back to the defensive side.
High school QB, college MLB...he knows football.
Hope he does well.
Chances are good he'll get hired by Harbaugh once he has a few years under his belt
Why? Because he played for Michigan. He will only get hired by Harbaugh if he is the best available coach.

Well done, Desmond. Now go make the most of it.
Hope to see you patrolling Michigan's sidelines again in the near future. Earn your bones and I'm betting Harbaugh has a place for you on staff in a few years.

Couldn't happen to a better guy. Hope he's in Ann Arbor some day
Why?
Because while reading WD's thread about the Michigan uniform fonts, I realized that we've not done our 'due diligence' in inspecting the uniforms and fonts of the team Desmond Morgan is about to help coach.
Here's a look at the Wayne St. Tartars in their football uniforms:
Now take as good long look---don't we need to have a long and thoughtful discussion on
the pros and cons of Wayne fonts?

That picture is of Wayne State College in Nebraska. Desmond is presumably coaching at Wayne State University in Detroit.
I made the mistake of copying the first good picture I came across whem I googled Wayne State. Didn't at all notice that it was Wayne State COLLEGE.. My bad!
Here's the "real" Wayne State UNIVERSITY Tartars/Warriors:
NOW how do you like these Wayne fonts?
and, of course,
could you find a picture of him clapping?
Nice
I bet he'll be a great coach. Read plays well & seemed like a really genuine guy.
I bet he moves up quickly. Best of luck
Props to Brian for calling this like 2-3 years ago
Good luck coach and as always go blue
