Unless TCU is looking for a dump truck back, I'm not seeing Green in their offense. I really thought he'd end up at a Virginia FCS school like JMU, Richmond, Liberty...

Best of luck to Derrick. He got his Michigan degree and nobody can ever take that away.
I'll root for him at TCU. Unless they play Michigan.
Well done young man! Free(ish, I know they bust their butts) college and a chance to do well at another school. Good job.
I'll agree that TCU seems an odd fit for him, but I'll also trust that Gary Patterson will make it work out. I think he's a pretty good coach, and wouldn't have been upset at seeing him arrive if the Unicorn hadn't worked out.
Good luck, Derrick - snack on Big 12 defenses!!

I wish Derrick Green that all his NFL dreams draw true.
I'm a strong believer that players and teams adopt the character and culture of their leader.
Hoke was fat, sloppy, and unprepared. That's exactly how Green showed up to campus.
The team had talent as we saw last year....many of the players were able to rebound rom the poor coaching and lack of discipline under Hoke's staff in just 1 year under Harbaugh. Green it appears fell too far behind, and was always battling weight and conditioning issues.
Wishing him the best at TCU. Unlike Gardner whose career the prior staff destroyed, at least Green has another shot at his football dream.
A few years ago, I did a study of #1 tailbacks on Rivals up to that point (LINK). The average performance for a #1 tailback before Derrick Green was a three-year career of:
429 carries for 2,442 yards (5.7 yards/carry) and 22 touchdowns and being the #63 overall pick in the NFL Draft
So far Green has 212 carries for 898 yards (4.2 yards/carry) and 7 touchdowns in three seasons.
Green needs 217 carries for 1,544 yards and 15 touchdowns in his fourth season just to reach what most #1 guys do in three years.
Good luck to him
If I recall correctly he stuck with his recruitment even when we were in hard times. I wish nothing but the best for the guy. I hope he has alot of success at TCU.
TCU has some good speed backs on their roster, but they are just that, speed guys (2nd on the depth chart is a converted WR). Green looked improved in 2014 the couple games before he went down with an injury, and I thought he ran much tougher in the few snaps he got under Harbaugh.
Moving to more of a zone scheme, where he looked to be gaining some comfort, and with some improvement, he could be a solid player for him. A couple years back there was a stat about how RBs did once they got through the first line of defense, and Green actually had good stats. His issues were getting through that first part. With some improved blocking, familiarity/comfort in the scheme, and some improvement in some areas, he still has some other very nice abilities. It would be interesting to see it all click in his final year.
I hope next year he has a great season!
There is no telling what he could have done in Ann Arbor.
Maybe he'll figure it out at TCU. Good luck to him.
Maybe Gary Patterson can find a staff position for his mother.
I remember all the excitment when he picked UM and thought he would be our starting back by now. But it did not work out here. Much like other 5 star backs such as Grady and Baraka who did not live up to their potential here.
is that he was not a great blocker in pass protection (though he improved just a little last season), and he did not appear to be much of a receiver. Both are desirable qualities in a Harbaugh running back.
I hope your time at TCU goes well.
I wish him the very best at TCU!

Grad transfer(I think) so, no.
but got damn, his running style infurriated me.
Best of luck to him and I hope he does well at TCU, if nothing else he may get some time and space due to the nature of Big 12 offenses and defenses that he didn't get at Michigan.
Hope you have a fun and memorable final year of football.
Too bad it didn't work out for you here.
