It may be a guess but notice how it is D-Rob OR Forcier OR DG... it's the same throughout it. So it doesn't tell much as to what the depth chart really is. It's just reiterating what we already know (that who is the possible starter and who is the backup). A good post from the OP but only if those looking at it did not know this before.

Yea this is pure speculation.  No McCoglan (sp?) at FB, and with all the competition at CB I find it hard to believe they only list Courtney Avery.  That is no dig on Avery, just that we know the position battle is on-going.

This is way to early, they still have a week of practice left. I doubt we know much of anything with the postion battles until we see who plays against UConn.

There is something completely wrong though.  And maybe I'm just crazy here, so someone correct me if I'm wrong.  But they have Banks listed at DE and RVB at DT.  I'm pretty sure RVB is going to be at DE and Banks will be at DT (especially since they're listed that way on the roster).

They also have him listed as Matavious and Martavious....so not only do they not know his year but they don't know how to spell his name.

Thank you Rivals for screwing this up! I refuse to pay any more attention to this poor excuse of a depth chart.  I will just wait and write out my own come Sept. 4th.

Dorrestein and Schilling. I think the offense is going to rock this year, next year looks to be pretty sweet as well. I'm really stoked to see it operate! The defense...not so much; hopefully they allay all my fears and concerns...

Are they mixing in a best guess as to who the starter is along with the 'ors'? The order is not according to last name or number - someone is putting the guys in some order (eg., DR #16, TF #5, then DG #7), but what that order is, isn't clear. What's the story?

EDIT - Ahh, nevermind, it seems like they are in order of year; back to work doing something I  feel halfway competant at.

As everyone else noted, this is basically trash.  However, the SPUR position is pretty scary and I'm not sure who the starter would be there.  I'd like to see Kovacs and M-Rob starting at Spur and Bandit at the same time.

I know there are tons of mistakes on this thing.

But just looking at it gets me really excited and hopeful for the season (not that I needed much help in that regard).

Of course there are a couple spots on there that terrify me.

But a lot of positions have at least two guys that should be serviceable, and the competition gives me reason for hope.

This is definitely not a legit chart, however.

This could be chalked up to "just another error" but it seems to be a common idea anywhere I look - Thomas Gordon as the starter at the Spur.  For a guy we haven't heard a whole lot about, everywhere I look it implies he's locked up the starting spot.  Don't get me wrong, I hope he's that good, but to me that seems like it would be a position with some "ors" on it.  With some of the talented freshmen we have, and with guys like Leach and Williams who have starting (hell, even playing) experience in that position group, I'm surprised there isn't more uncertainty.

Pleasantly surprised, however.

Here is a question. Why is George Morales still on scholarship if he isn't even in the 2 deep for long snapper? I thought when Lloyd recruited him it was with a 1 year scholarship and it would be reviewed each year. I would think with our lack of numbers and depth at some positions that something would be done. Maybe it just shows some character in RichRod that coaches in other conferences (SEC) don't posess and he will honor the scholarship no matter what.

I believe that Morales is a walk-on and not on schollarship.  He may have received a schollarship his first year (honoring Carr's offer) but only for 1-yr.  As for last year I was under the impression he stayed on the team as a preferred walk-on because he wasn't listed in the group of walk-ons that received the 2009 unused schollarships (Kovacs, Olensavage, Leach, Grady and a couple others)

This year, it looks like there will be 6 unused schollarships to give to walk-ons (Kovas and Leach are already on) and I doubt Morales will be on that list (probably K. Grady, Primarco (sp?), Van Slyke, T. Anderson, F. Simmons, Kennedy, Z. Johnson, FB McColgan would seem to be "more worthy").

Kovacs and MRob need to be together, not at same position.

Also, put me in the camp to have lewan over dorrestein and hugye over schoefield, and rogers over cc, at least for game one.

have a pretty good idea of the 2-deep after the Wednesday scrimmage, which is today, but there was no mention as to whether or not that two deep would be released.

Speaking of today's scrimmage, are they allowing season ticket holders in to watch it, similar to Saturday's scrimmage? Hopefully we'll be able to sneak a few spies in to give the rest of us some scrumptuous morsels of information.

After seeing all of our RBs names in one place just now, I get why Fred Jackson was so giddy the other day.

This really is an unusually talented group of guys. I could see any one of the five emerging as the feature back at some point during the next two seasons.

I know the depth chart is unoffical, but a couple of things that intrigue me are:

1. I know Roy Roundtree was supposed to get some time on the outside, but his best position, IMO, is at slot. I'd rather have Darryl Stonum and Juior Hemingway on the outside with Roundtree and Martavious Odoms on the inside. I'm not sure if Roundtree would be a good fit at outside receiver all season long.

2.  Kelvin Grady is not listed at all. Could this be because he's in the midst of a postion switch? If not, I'd figure he'd be listed as 3rd string slot, since Jeremy Gallon is apparently not in proper shape.

3. At the starting corner opposite J.T. Floyd, James Rogers, Cullen Christian, and Terrence Talbott are all listed as "or," indicating any of them could be the starter. I would not be surprised if Rogers or Christian locks down one of the starting CB spots, but from everything I've heard, Courtney Avery is definitely ahead of Talbott, yet he is not listed as an "or," just strictly as a backup. Also, where's Teric Jones? I figured he'd be ahead of Talbott, who was said to be a speacial teams player at best at this point.
