It was the manner in which it came off that struck me that way. As if "of course Denard shouldn't be in consideration. Why would he? Its not like he did anything special." This is probably just a result of not being to tell tone of voice very well with text. I happen to agree that DRod shouldn't seriously be in heisman talks, but like I said, it just struck me as being snarky and I offer my apologies if it wasn't intended that way.

As a guest, you're held to a higher standard... which you live up to. I think most posters here appreciate that, thankfully, but obviously some can't.

but it's a funny one, yours was just dumb

What are the chances Cam Newton doesn't get the votes due to the controversy? Clearly he is the one to beat.

I don't believe he will get the invite this year. I have every confidence that when he is invited to New York, it will be to accept the Heisman.

As far as individual players go, he's one of the most special in the country. Compared to the other favorites to be invited, Denard probably has less around him as far as the whole team goes, no slight to our guys of course.
Plus if he got invited, the rest of the country could at least enjoy watching his highlights/smile.

I think the invitees are announced by a former Heisman winner on tomorrow night's Sportcenter at 6 EST. Don't expect Denard to get invited to the ceremony, but I think he will probably be in the top 7-10 vote-getters. The award is clearly Cam Newton's, though. He's had it sewn up since we lost to MSU basically.

feather in his cap, but he's got 2 more years to win them.
just going to watch this year seems inconsequential in the face of things to come.

be getting serious consideration for the Heisman trophy. Denard is a phenom, he is very good at a certain thing, but he does not dominate a game. You may be left with the impression during certain stretches that he is, but it is an illusion for the most part right now in his career. Injury "proneness," turnovers, and missing "that guy" and "the time" play into your overall effectiveness as a football player. Denard is a great kid who is really fun to watch and nearly impossible to stop in the right play at the right time, but a Heisman trophy winner he is not, at least not right now.

It is possible we see him one more time in the Maize and Blue. Another year of first year QB would be hard to watch. At least the sideline antics would be more draw attention away from the field of play. Just remembering the way Bo dealt with a similar situation. The uncertainty seem to be doing more damage nationally than anything else we could do.

think you're going to have to explain this one further

He deserves to, that doesn't mean he will. If our team was even 10-2 he would be one of the favorites.
