Per Darius Morris' Twitter
Darius rarely tweets, but I follow him for times such as these.
Per Darius' Twitter:
Good morning I will be tweeting a lot today just because I don't usually some interesting stuff might come up #staytuned

Is very telling...
March 24th, 2011 at 10:50 AM ^
The mood is tense.

Darius needs to develop his jumpshot along with a left hand. He can drive in the lane in College but once he gets to the NBA getting to the basket won't nearly be the same and I could see him quickly flaming out. The kid has great passing abilities but, I just think he needs another year, hopefully, for M, 2 before he is NBA ready.
March 24th, 2011 at 11:22 AM ^
but the question is - would he be better of doing that as a full-time professional, with coaches focused on just him and his development, while he gets paid to do it, or would he be better off waiting another year in college.
No one knows the answer of course, but theres a strong argument that playing and practicing against the best would develop his career fastest.
Most rookies aren't 'NBA ready' when they enter the league.
March 24th, 2011 at 11:41 AM ^
The big issue is whether or not a pro team would have the patience to let him develop. If he's a first-round pick, they're on the hook for four years, so they have no choice. But if he's a second-rounder (which is more likely), they can just cut him if he's not ready to contribute off the bat.
Even in the "developmental league," coaches don't spend as much time developing players' individual skills as they do in college. An unfinished product with potential such as Morris is better served staying in school one more year. I would love to see him stay two, but it is probably a pipe dream.
March 24th, 2011 at 12:16 PM ^
Didn't he say he would be staying numerous times?
March 24th, 2011 at 12:24 PM ^
But according to the Freep, that means, "I'm going to look at my options. I might leave. I'm not sure."
The Freep better be careful if they ever get a reluctant girlfriend. The cops aren't so big on that, "Well, she said no, but I knew she meant yes" argument.

*Waits for it*
March 24th, 2011 at 11:01 AM ^
What is he going to order at Taco bell? Possible hair change? Girlfriend?
Depends...is Denise working today?
March 24th, 2011 at 11:02 AM ^
Any national team tryouts he could have been invited to?
March 24th, 2011 at 11:09 AM ^
his comments reference an impending commit from Max Bielfeldt.
March 24th, 2011 at 11:12 AM ^
for Bielfeldt announcement. Resume panic
March 24th, 2011 at 12:42 PM ^
so I am going with a Bielfeldt committ.
That's what I immediately thought too. Bielfeldt!
March 24th, 2011 at 11:16 AM ^
It's good to see that the worry warts are now paying attention to the basketball team.
March 24th, 2011 at 12:38 PM ^
and if memorty serves, I recall a thread where people freaked out about the thought of Manny going pro. Could be wrong, but I don't feel like looking it up.
March 24th, 2011 at 11:19 AM ^
So we have a thread saying that there might be something interesting happening today?
March 24th, 2011 at 11:58 AM ^
Or just the opposite. Either way, it's very telling.
March 24th, 2011 at 12:45 PM ^
is that your dog in your avatar?
He/she looks like a sweetie!
Yes, he's a Siberian Husky. Think he's about 7 months in the picture.
He's a big sweetie!
March 24th, 2011 at 11:24 AM ^
He was so inspired by "The Butterfly" that he will honor Tim Doyle by growing that impressive mustache that Doyle was rocking for a couple of weeks?
March 24th, 2011 at 11:27 AM ^
With John Wall going up against Blake Griffin yesterday, I was going to start a NBA rookie of the year thread, but figured nobody would be interested. I am hoping Darius tweets his choice for ROY. It will be tough for Darius but I guess he would go for Wall. Me, I'm picking Blake Griffin. Anyone who can dunk on Novak like that gets my vote.
March 24th, 2011 at 12:27 PM ^
Blake Griffin is the easy pick regardless of who he has dunked on.
March 24th, 2011 at 11:31 AM ^
Maybe he's just going to be tweeting a lot about the Tourney games since this is the first day of games since we got knocked out? Hope so
March 24th, 2011 at 11:31 AM ^
Super important update from Darius
"My thoughts on class if you have to be there y not pay attention and do the best you can haha"
March 24th, 2011 at 12:01 PM ^
So what he's saying is that he'll be paying attention and doing the best he can in this next NBA draft class?
March 24th, 2011 at 12:13 PM ^
If he were planning on going to the NBA, I doubt he'd be in class right now.
March 24th, 2011 at 12:14 PM ^
Unless he's thinking about throwing his hat in the ring but not signing with an agent.
Damn me and my quick trigger finger.
March 24th, 2011 at 11:57 AM ^
I think there is no news. I think he's just going to be tweeting today, which he normally doesn't, and said something interesting might happen because MAYBE it will. I don't think he'll be tweeting any news. Take that for what it's worth, but that's my 2 pennies.
March 24th, 2011 at 12:01 PM ^
Damn you and your logic
March 24th, 2011 at 12:29 PM ^
I'll keep checking back on here & his Twitter too just in case.....just for the record. The logic has let paranoia stick around a while.
March 24th, 2011 at 12:06 PM ^
I said, "Somebody on MGoBoard is going to have an MGoFreakout over this."
People, relax. Normally he retweets inspirational posts from another person. Today, he may actually tweet his own stuff.
March 24th, 2011 at 12:10 PM ^
Like tweets such as, "Hello, my name is Darius. I enjoy long walks on the beach and people getting the fuck off my court."
That seriously made me laugh very hard. Nice work!
March 24th, 2011 at 12:31 PM ^
Monty had it right a long time ago
telling.
Why would he leave for the NBA if the commissioner matter-of-factly told media that there will undoubtedly be a lockout next season...
Well if he doesn't read this board, he does now...
If it were me I would start tweeting really f-ed up things just to screw with us. You know, something vague and non-descriptive but still somewhat telling.
"Making a tough decision today"
or
"Been talking to @mannyharris a lot recently..."
and "Precious Bodily Fluids" would be my picks...
So anyway it's just past 5:00 on Darius' Day of Significant Tweeting. Is he ordering the cup of soup, or the house salad? Either one comes with the entree.
One of the great things about MGoBlog is that so many of you guys follow Michigan athletes' Tweet-feeds, so guys like me don't have to. And I thank you.
....he's being adventurous today and chowing down at No Thai? 1317 S. University - it isn't a terrible walk from South Campus.....we need on-the-spot reporting on the blog really.....
Nice ping, Darius.
