Damon Webb Commits to OSU
According to his twitter and others. This day keeps getting worse.
I'm proud to be a Ohio State Buckeye #Committed

It's a great day. The freshmen got a taste of rivalry intensity in the Big Ten, spotted Ohio a bunch of points, and still almost won. The pressure of being undefeated is off, and JB gets a lot of coachable moments on tape. This will make the team better, and it's much better that this happens now than in the NCAA Tournament.
As for Webb: BFD. Ohio gets another player: not exactly "man bites dog" here. So what if he goes to Cass Tech. He's only one player.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Scout say we have the #1 class in the country? Hoke is putting together a monster class that is recognized by every major recruiting site. We lost out on one kid, and even that is not set in stone. There's a huge threat in Columbus and I think everyone recognizes that, but don't for a second think that they Meyer doesn't recognize the threat in Ann Arbor.

Colorado, North Carolina, Massachusetts etc.
I guess they need to go intergalactic like Sparty?

M has an entire year to flip Webb. He'll be like most young adults in his position and eventually open things up again. The kid is 17 fergodsakes.

Considering this staff has shown little acumen when it comes to attracting top flight corners. Elite players want to play for a coach with a big time resume and reputation for getting players to the league. Any elite corner out there saw clearly that our defensive backs are not fundamentally sound. Coaching.

Brought in the 2 top corners from Cass Tech in the past 2 recruiting classes in Richardson and Lewis who also had roughly the same offer sheet as Webb. The same staff also has had a true freshman in Countess and a true sophomore in Taylor that saw less action in games than the corner that was repeatedly targeted far more frequently in one JT Floyd who was recruited by Dick Rod.

"Fuckeyes" and "OLIO" and stuff are bad enough, but "Dick Rod" is even worse.

Dick Rod era.
Bad Times.

Lots of OSU tolls here. Meyer will retire in a couple years to "spend time with his family." If there is one thing the guy is, besides a sleazily smooth recruiter, it's a great football analyst. He got the hell out of the SEC when he realized the Saban monster was just getting started. Urbz didnt want to stick around and get shat on, so he ran like a coward, citing "family reasons." Family wasn't so important when he was cheating on his wife weith a grad assistance. He will run again after Hoke beats him down.
OSU will continue to be a program too big to fail with a sleazy win at all costs coach that will have them in the top 10 every year. But it wont be enough to beat well coached UM teams stocked with talent. Hoke's more homely papa bear style still seems to resonate with many kids and their families as we have seen over the last 3 recruiting cycles. I like the kids we are bringing in, and its not like these are 3 stars I am rationalizing because they are "good character guys with high upside." These are top rated recruits choosing UM.

You're back Jon Ross but your basketball team won and you picked up a recruit. I didn't see you trolling when Michael Ferns turned Urbs down (I imagine his offer was not commitable).
Shocking to see you out trolling today.

I don't think you understand what a troll is.

They inherited a program that had been to 1 bowl game in 3 years and turned in 2 top ten classes in the 2 full recruiting cycles that they have had. This year's class may be top 5. They have pulled more talent out of the state of Ohio in two years than Dick Rod or Lloyd did in the past 4 or 5 years. They have one of Ohio's top 3 recruits in Ferns. They have dominated the state of Michigan after the previous staff failed miserably in it's own state.

Clarkie dislikes me. He always has. I don't get worked up about it.

That's a lie. I either discuss OSU/Michigan related topics or make fun of Michigan fans who say something egregious (aka what everyone on this blog does to Michigan fans who post stuff that's dumb). I never call out anyone who isn't already negged or called out for a dumbass comment. I've been here for like 4 years.

1) OSU has scheduled in recent years USC, UCLA, Texas, Washington State, Washington, and Miami to play in the non-con and every single team listed above was ranked when they played OSU (and usually ranked top 10). So "continuous use of a pathetic schedule" is wrong. Schedules are made years in advance (you'll notice OSU plays Oklahoma, Tennessee and Va. Tech in coming years also) so when Cal was scheduled they were coming off decent, Aaron Rodgers led, years.
2) Alabama was literally the first time Michigan played a tough non-con game since, what, Oregon? In 2007? You play ND every year. They've had three good seasons since 2000.
3) You lost to us? You can't say UM lost to Nos. 1, 2, and 3 which makes them good losses then immediately call into question the validity of one of those three teams for having a joke schedule. You were on that schedule and you lost to them. Are you then a joke by default?
January 14th, 2013 at 8:34 AM ^
If ohio had Michigan's schedule this past year, they would've got shit-canned by alabama and beat by notre dame in south bend. No doubt.
Michigan would've destroyed that scrub schedule ohio played. And they wouldn't have struggled with mighty UCF either.
January 14th, 2013 at 8:38 AM ^
I have my doubts that Notre Dame would have beaten Ohio State. Notre Dame isn't very good, and they got a bunch of lucky breaks throughout the year. They struggled with an 8-5 Michigan team, a mediocre Pitt team, a 7-6 USC team, etc. There's a very real possibility that the Buckeyes would have beaten the Irish.
January 14th, 2013 at 9:05 AM ^
Uhh both teams had their weaknesses. UM struggled with Air Force, a team made up of 5'7'' white boys with a gimmick offense.
Sure, we would lose to Bama. We might lost to ND, though I don't think so. Point is, we beat Nebraska, and we beat UM. Transitively, there's really no argument.
January 14th, 2013 at 11:54 AM ^
What's wrong with being white?
And your Rose Bowl winning 2009 team struggled with navy who runs the same offense. In their season opener. They had an entire fall camp to prep for the triple option. Michigan had one week and it was after a loss to the defending and eventual MNC.
Triple option is not something Michigan exactly sees very much.
