Dammit Mike Hart did not just say that
Mike just said "We are like a big Brother to Ohio State. We don't really spend too much time thinking about them. They worry way too much about us." [paraphrasing of course]
Face palm...three major arteries in Hoke's head just exploded and he had to taken to UofM hospital....really ironic considering Mike was speaking at the Mott benefit.
Update:
Morgan Trent, Leon Hall and Mike Hart are tearing Sparty a new ******* right now.
The guys are basically taking the line:
"Yeah you beat us the last 2-3 years, but who didn't. Beat us when we have a REAL program now that Brady Hoke is here"
He was never exactly soft spoken.....
You gotta love the guy as a Michigan fan, but I'm not sure he's the guy I want out as the public face of the program . . . A little humility goes a long way, especially after the past few seasons.
are a pantywaist.*
Viva Hart!
* I don't exactly know what this word means, but I'm fairly certain that your comment exemplifies pantywaistedness.
Is it wrong for a guy to wear panties? If so, then you are correct sir I AM a pantywaist.
probably not listed in Webster's, but I'm pretty sure it's "pantywaste".
Not so fast my friend...
every single day.
If I could I would +100 you
Haven't seen you since you went full troll, then had to change your identity in an attempt to make a fresh start.
say what?
I don't think you can say that when the game played between us every year is simply known as "The GAME". Maybe someone who went 4-0 against OSU could say this, but that's still a stretch considering our misfortunes in the series these past 10 years. Not a smart comment from Mr. Hart.
Still love the guy though. Here's to hoping we have a RB in the near future that's on the same level as he was.
has bigger worries than anything Mike Hart has to say in public these days!
Hey, maybe he was referring to the law school (or med school, or business school, or any others where Michigan is clearly better). :)

As far as football is concerned, he's right about one thing. Ohioans are clearly more obsessive about that rivalry than Michiganders.
We sure are. Yay for obsession!
Maybe Mike Hart should have thought about Ohio State a little more.
Did he really say this? link?

Please note that in the future, you will not face numerous questions, and intense criticism, if you simply shut up about your unhappy relationship with Coach Rodriguez. In shutting up, you are far less likely to be asked further questions about your own suppostion as to statements made by Lloyd Carr, about Coach Rodriguez's opinion of your draftability. Wherein Coach Carr denied outright the statements that you attributed to him without any proof of your own. To your great, but apparently insufficient, embarassment.
Please contact me directly with any further questions in this regard.
It's amazing to me that anyone would actually be proud to be in the RR Mafia or the Lloyd Loyalist clan.
Both these factions are despicable.
who finds this incredibly immature. God love these guys, but I don't want these words running through their heads next fall, just mammoth sized maize and blue bodies.
MIKE HART FACEPALM:
Maybe if he'd spent more time thinking about them he wouldn't have gone 0-4 against them.
Losing to OSU was NOT his fault. He gave it his all every time.
Can't blame mike....
2004: 18 carries, 61 yards, 1 TD
2005: 9 carries, 15 yards, 0 TD
2006: 23 carries, 142 yards, 3 TD
2007: 18 carries, 44 yards, 0 TD
So in four years against them, he had 68 carries for 262 yards (3.9 yards per carry) and 4 TD's.
Not even Mike Hart can be absolved for his performances against Ohio State. The whole team lost those four games, and each member of the team deserves his fair share of blame.
"2006" in your post literally put a cold shiver up the back of my spine. Make it stop, Brady, make the pain go away...
for not averaging 18yds/carry and scoring 40 TD's. Happy ?
Did you see him go down an inch before he dragged the guy tackling him as far as humanly possible ?
Did you see him whiff on a block due to lack of effort ?
No player on earth (no, not even Brady) can guarantee victory.
You're missing the point.
I'm not saying he should apologize. I'm not saying he didn't try. But when someone says "Don't blame Mike Hart" then the implication is that someone else should be blamed.
So...where does the blame lie? If not Hart, then where else?
I'm not asking you to blame anyone. I'm saying it was a team effort. I don't think any one of those players on those four teams would say, "I played a perfect game." So yes, I blame Hart. And Long. And Henne. And Coach Carr. And Leon Hall. And Rueben Riley. And Zoltan Mesko. And Sean Griffin. And Obi Oluigbo. Etc.
But it is unfair to bring this up as if it is something he should be ashamed of. He is a legend at this univ neverthless.
Odd that he would be calling them out when you look at the results. I don't see it unless he was joking or something. Calling out Sparty is different for him, particularly when you look at the stats in those games.
THE TEAM, THE TEAM, THE TEAM! I agree, everyone should share the blame equally! Because they didn't get it done!
Although, it is interesting to note that his two bad games ('05 and '07) were seasons in which he had injuries all year. In those two games he had 27 carries for 59 yards (2.2 YPC) and 0 TD's. In his two fully healthy games he had 41 carries for 203 yards (5 YPC) and 4 TD's.
It's worth noting that Hart was seriously injured in the 2005 and 2007 games and tried to gut it out but just didn't have it. 2006 was the only time after his freshman year he was close to 100% and he was terrific that day.
In both 2005 and 2007, no?
I think that's where much of the absolution of Mike's sins comes from.
Yes, he was injured in 2005 and 2007.
And in 2004 he was only a freshman.
So, in other words, we can come up with excuses for why he wasn't good 75% of the time. But based on that 25% of the time when he was healthy and a non-freshman, he was AWESOME and he CAN'T BE BLAMED!!!!!!
He had one good game against Ohio State. He deserves just as much blame for those 4 losses from 2004-07 as anyone else.
EDIT: In addition, the 2006 team just happened to be the best squad of his four-year career. It had a bunch of good defensive players, in addition to some future high picks on offense (Henne, Long, etc.). So, consistent with my "The whole team is to blame" argument, it's not surprising that Hart would have his best game against Ohio State in the year when his teammates were superior to those of 2004, 2005, and 2007, as well.
Impeccable logic. You can tell, because there's lots of sarcastic all caps and exclamation points.
You can certainly say that Hart's inability to stay healthy over the course of his career is a reason to rate him less highly as a back overall. But in terms of those individual games, the raw fact of sprained ankles would seem to trump the relative strength of teammates or damn near any other factor. Hard to have a good game against a good team when you can't really plant on one of your legs.
You're missing the point.
This isn't about rating Hart as a running back. It's about "where the blame lies" for those four losses. I certainly agree that sprained ankles are a legitimate reason for performing poorly. But for all the people above who said "It wasn't Hart's fault that we lost those 4 games," the question remains unanswered: Whose fault was it? Nobody wants to say.
The bottom line is that the team didn't play well. I'm not trying to blame Hart, say that he didn't try, suggest that he was a bad player, etc. Hart was one of the probably 40-ish players on the field each year who didn't get it done. And he would probably tell you that himself.
Can't blame mike for them goin 0-4, he did what he needed to do vs that team in columbus
Sometimes someone just needs the balls to stand up and speak the truth
after actually winning would be better
but i'm never really a fan of talking trash.
If Mike Hart has any male siblings in his family, and if so, what sort of bizarre upbringing did they share that has fostered into this obsession with brotherly relationships...
...on the Spartan alumni in the Metro Detroit CBS Outdoor sales office.
First Albert Lin, the ESPN rumormonger, tweeting about the scholarship opened up by the death of an Alabama football player;
Then the MGoBlogerati, ridiculing Tressel for lawyering up with... former Michigan counsel Gene Marsh;
And finally Mike Hart making another oblique "little brother" reference. I wasn't wondering so much if Michigan had beaten "little brother" since Hart first uttered the phrase; rather, I was wondering if Michigan had beaten OSU in Mike Hart's lifetime, or if he had just seen Michigan beating OSU, once upon a time, on YouTube.
Not a good week for the Michigan Alumni Association.
I love Mikey! This is the type of swagger Michigan needs.
I guess it's almost a Jim Harbaugh against Ohio State situation honestly. Can't believe that he said it, but no other choice, but to go out there and back it up.
of course, it would be different if he were one of the ones going out to try to back it up...
refered to them as Ohio STATE.
Wait, that's why we're mad right?
He always called it O-State in interviews while he was student...
We all think about the thrashings we owe tUoOS every day. Sparty is a far second, and always will be. Just because we're their number one focus doesn't mean a thing.
The same goes with most other schools in the B1G.
Mike Hart is to be thanked for his effort and his love of Michigan.
He is also to be laughed at for his ridiculous statements in front of the microphone......
(ie: "Oh I guarantee we would beat them if we played them again." Um, yeah... thanks Mike. As UM a fan who lives in Ohio, losing the game of the century wasn't enough to fuel these idiots with trash talking ammo. Let's make sure to say something stupid during the post-game presser that they can also use to make fun of us.)
