Dallas Crawford Has Michigan #1

Per Rivals:

"The atmosphere was crazy with the 112,000 fans," Crawford said. "They had a lot of support and that's what stood out the most." "That was perfect football weather for me," Crawford said. "I could get used to that weather right there. It was much better than in the spring." During each of his visits, Crawford has spent time touring the campus and the city of Ann Arbor, familiarizing himself with the school's surroundings. "I like Ann Arbor and I'm pretty comfortable there," he said. "I like the whole feeling of the town and the feeling of the people."

ANNNNDDD

"Michigan is No. 1 right now, Miami and Tennessee are tied for second and West Virginia is third," Crawford said. "I just want to see a few more schools before I make a decision. After I see Tennessee and West Virginia I will be making my decision."  "I'm definitely taking an official back, probably in January," Crawford said. "In December we are expecting to still be in the playoffs, so if I can't set it up for another game it will probably be in January."

Thanks for posting.  I was attempting to take a look at the 2011 Recruiting page and it looks to have reverted back to an older version of the page (i.e. players marked as committments before are no longer, etc.).  While I am secretly praying that this isn't an actual reaction of the recent losses (insert nervous laughter here), is anyone else finding the same problem?

Never underestimate the excitement of seeing snow for the first time.  (As long as it's that nice white blowing non-slushy stuff.)  It's seeing snow for the 9th or 10th or 300th time that can be a problem.  And that won't happen to them until they've already committed and been on campus for a few months.

And with those dreads, they won't even need neck scarves!

First of all, no one said he's a lock.  Secondly, I don't agree with your first paragraph either.  When a recruit who has had us on top for a while visits and says positive things, and explicitly says we are the #1 team, I see no reason to not believe that.  Conversely, if a recruit like Doran Grant said "yeah Michigan was great, the stadium was huge and we all had a great time" I think we would take it with a grain of salt until he starts saying other good things about Michigan.

Sometimes people have insider info.  Some people knew Dee Hart was coming here, so his lip service to the press was just that.  A guy who is seriously up in the air with his recruitment is a different story.  It needs to be taken on a case by cae basis, but prior knowledge of where a recruit leans (or doesn't) is certainly taken into account.

Dallas I once sat through a football game in early October in Michigan that was colder than than the outdoor hockey game played in December.

I like that Florida kids have overly romanticized attitudes about snow.  Gives us a nice advantage.  I wonder how many southern kids would go to places like Michigan if they knew how truly miserable January and February are.

Control of space means control of the world, far more certainly, far more totally than any control that has been achieved by weapons or troops of occupation. Space is the ultimate position, the position of total control over Earth.

I can guarantee you that rival schools make sure they know what our winter weather is like.  Believe it or not, a lot of people enjoy living in a place that has four seasons.

I saw Crawford and Watkins in the Mden before the game and they looked to be enjoying themselves. Watkins was sporting an awesome gold grill to match the dreads.

Yes, we have some idiot fans.  I've heard some of the most ignorant, narrow-minded, even racist things from some people.  But by and large, our fanbase has been very patient and supportive over the past three years.  RR isn't kidding around when he regularly says how great our fans are.

I was also happy to read that statement, because it makes me think that the real fans far outnumber the "fans" who booed at the end of the first half and who are back on the "FR DKROD" bandwagon.

Graduated from M in 1981, I know M weather. But also I spend most summers in Charleston SC. Tried to train there this August in 120F + heat index weather (95F plus extremely high humidity). I couldn't train in that heat (for rugby) in fact I couldn't even walk in it...walked 1/2mi at 2pm and almost passed out. I play rugby in Reno NV which gets as cold as M (one game we played in 5F and ice shards all over field...field was pink at end of game...), and also wet (snow). I am small with little body fat and was scared at first of playing and practicing in the cold, in the evenings, outside... But, I find that I MUCH PREFER practicing and playing in the cold than in the southern heat. I've said it before... cold weather is preferred for football and can be a recruiting advantage. You don't know how miserable (/life threatening) it is trying to play in extreme heat...
