To be fair to the OP of that thread, we are a numbers-obsessed and data-driven bunch, or at least some of us tend to be more engrossed in them. Now, if you ask a given MGoBlogger which numbers you should worry about or which data you should be re-reading so it is well-understood, that's when the weird sidebars start.

for MAC level talent. Not a knock on the guys who have transferred there but I think that is pretty damning of our pre-Harbaugh level of talent acquisition/development.

Development, maybe.  But Hoke recruited Wormley, Charlton, Henry, Mone, Wilson, Thomas, Lewis, Chesson, Darboah--you can't knock those guys' talent.  IIRC, we missed out on our main targets the year Jones was recruited, and ended up with three ok but not exceptional recruits at WR.

These are playing time transfers. Most likely, other big schools aren't going to take players that couldn't get on the field at another school, so they are forced to transfer down.

The talent Hoke recruited was fine for the most part. There were some individual players that didn't cut it, and some positions that were a bit weaker, but the former happens to every program, and the latter happens to most. Development was the primary issue (as you noted).

DCGrad, it is pretty easy to mouth off when there are no down votes.

Every last one of us is glad Harbaugh is here as head coach. But quit the endless Hoke bashing. As mentioned by others, Hoke did a fine job of recruiting. Harbaugh is on a completely different plane, but then, Harbaugh has more coverage and publicity than any other college coach, bar none.

Well, IMO, he's a MAC level coach. I personally think he can have a long successful career at that level, but no one stays when they have success there.

I was hoping Toledo would hire him. Close to Ann Arbor, he knows the culture, born in Ohio...even on those things that don't matter in terms of success for a position seemed like a perfect fit. The old school nature, you can just be a football coach.

I feel like Hoke could be there and retire there as one of the greatest MAC coaches in recent history, maybe ever...and I'm not being sarcastic in any way.

There seems to be a bit more than a little animosity  toward Brady as a result of the years he spent here as our  head coach. And I will never disagree with anyone that suggests he should have never been hired. He was undeserving. I won't disagree. But I think he did the same thing all of us would have in terms of accepting it, although we all would have performed differently, because that's what amateurs do, hell even pros.

But as easy as it is to agree that he was not a good fit here, it's almost as difficult to really dislike the man. Some people are able to obviously, based on his coaching, but I am not among them.

Although I disagree with your take on Brady being remembered as one of the greatest MAC coaches ever, perhaps of all time, I can't agree. I really never knew how much his recruiting had to do with his success until he landed in AA, His record indicates  a willingness to take on programs that were at rock bottom and having the patience to bring them up to competing for conference championships, but it did take him awhile. He, obviously, prior to landing in BIG country as the head man, was the best recruiter wherever he was. I think that, more than anything allowed him to become a lifetime .500 coach. He actually lacks the keys to be a great coach at any level. You can take recruiting out of the equation at high school, but even at that level, you have to be capable yourself and be able to surround yourself with good teachers and, no matter the level, the one dynamic, perhaps the  most important of all, is the ability to motivate. It's actually done on a daily level to some degree and on Saturday's those sometimes subtle, sometimes not, methods of relaying your message is culminated in the actual message you've been building up to all week.

The thing that might save Brady's ass at the  MAC level is recruiting. He has been able to outrecruit all conference coaches at the smaller conferences. He will have to get rid of the loyalty thing and hire himself some damn fine position coaches that will coach those kids up so well that the motivation angle won't come into play. Those have been his two  biggest downfalls. But like you, and I don't even care if he's regarded as highly successfful. I'd like to see him have winning records and keep his position until he wishes to retire. He's simply one of the nicer men in  the game, and as I said, he's difficult to disklike.

I hope he finds success at BGSU.  As for worries about the numbers: the "process" has already begun.  The schollies will sort themselves out by the end of the semester.  I plan on wishing everyone who leaves good luck as long as it isn't a "Mr Plow" situation.

Da'Mario will probably have success there. I always liked him as a potential slot, but it never worked out. He was definitely the most talented of our very underwhelming '13 WR class

Go to Toledo! Toledo has a much better returning roster and will be in contention for the MAC championship again this year.  I can no longer wish him good luck or root for Da'Mario as BGSU trails only OSU, MSU and ND for worst colleges ever.

Should have a chance to put up big numbers if he gets the playing time. BGSU just hired an assistant from Texas Tech. And they had a pretty pass happy offense under Dino Babers previously so it won't be anything drastically new for the returning personnel. Best of luck to him.

BG's program is rolling (and hopefully continues to after losing Babers and Clawson) and this is a good football team to join. Some key offensive guys graduated and/or declared for the NFL draft, so he will get his shot. Hope he does well.
