CWS Game 1 Thread
4-0! Why is it only the 2nd inning??
A little small ball sacrifice to the right side and The Victors plays once more in TD Ameritrade. 4-0 LFG.
Jesse Franklin RBI groundout 4-3 play, and Ako moves to 3rd
4-0 MEEEEECHIGAN!
I'd love to see a multiple-hit game tonight by Brewer...
Brewer out on a screaming liner to the shortstop.
4-0.
Already 52 pitches by this Fellow fellow
50+ pitches in the 2nd inning, 4-0, bats on fire, Tommy dealing... Couldnt dream a better start.
HOOOOOOO BABYYYY!!!!!
Late to the thread party, but I've been watching. What a FANTASTIC start!!!!!
Helluva effort by Donovan on that pop foul...
Getting kinda unlucky tonight. Bad call at third, Brewer stumbled (not that it ended up mattering), shin guard catches to prevent an out.
No problem! Tommy Henry "settles" for a K.
Vandy sure has the hitting power to keep up, but their starter having 52 pitches to his name after only 2 innings is a really great start.
Take whatever advantages you can get.
Why did Vandy not start their ace tonight? I've been watching but haven't been able to listen to much.
This guy is their #1 starter the last two years and I think they said is 14-1 this year. Rocker's been second the whole post-season.
Thanks!
He looks pissed :)
K!
Vandy's sixth hitter has a .450 OPB. Yikes.
The luck is with Vandy, so far... But Henry has his stuff working, so lets hope he keeps it going...
Tommy Henry strikeouts make me make the woo-hoo noise that Homer makes when Burns tells him he must resign as Union President in "Last Exit to Springfield."
Great play by Nelson at 3rd as that scorcher down the line ate him up
Is that dude saying Michigan State?
WTF?? Is that allowed? Is it fair to score on Henry? I haven't seen that play before...
I swear, every time I watch Tommy Henry pitch, I see Tom Glavine! And, it's not just the number, it's the style and the way he challenges batters.
I thought the same thing last outing, but his control has been more like Maddox. His strike:ball ratio has been crazy good.
Do. Not. Like.
But it wasn't realistic to keep them off the board all night. Just have to keep the bats active...
EFF!!
We had that last batter behind at 0-2, now two runs :(
Passed ball on Donovan.
4-2
Damn. This entire half inning started because of a weird single due to the shadows and third base couldn’t see it
passed ball allows a run
Shit, after scoring 4 through 2, Michigan starts scuttling with 2 outs. Now Vanderbilt has 2 runs with another in scoring position.
This is less good.
K!!!
Tommy works out of further trouble.
SO got him out of it, but 2 runs came across. 4-2 after two... Lets get two more in the 3rd!!
What the fuck is being chanted?
Whew. Only a safety.
Settle down and get ‘em back.
Donovan has got to block that one.
I should not have eaten chicken tonight.
Its a nervous bird
It's baseball, those kind of innings happen. No need for concern, just keep working their starting pitcher, and make your pitch Henry.
User name...doesn't check out.
2 freebees - one on each side of the ball. Should be 5-1 !
Great...Kerr off to a shaky start
These college playoffs/CWS games are really stressful. The blowout last game was so refreshing!
Gonna need MOAR runs, boys - keep the bats going!
Looks like Drake has settled down. I don't really like this development...
Two straight Michigan strikeouts, Kerr and Nelson.
2diwn, none on, Bullock up
Gave them an extra out in last inning. Remember that dropped pop foul by the catcher. Inning would have been over.
edit: I've been reminded that guy struck out, so never mind
That guy struck out.
That dude struck out, tho...
That batter struck out, so it wasn’t really an extra out. The passed ball, however, gave Vandy an extra run.
Looks like the Vandy pitcher is settling in a little bit, just keep making him throw strikes, getting to the bullpen early is huge in a series like this. Especially with the depth Vandy has.
