Counting Sheep

Submitted by mickblue on

Most normal people, that have real lives, count sheep when they can't sleep. I, on the other hand obsess about MICHIGAN FOOTBALL.

Here are three thoughts I had last night:

1-The team we had last year will be the least talented one in the Harbaugh era.

2-Sparty fans will long remember their rare win over a JH team in 2015 and how they achieved it.

3-The floor for Michigan in 2016 is 9-3. The ceiling for Sparty in 2016 is also 9-3. This means that it is highly likely we will have a better season than them this year.

I have never counted sheep. But once there was a ewe stuck in a fence. I helped push it through the fence. It was everything I heard it would be...

I once snuck into the barn when they were slaughtering the spring lambs and they were all screaming. I grabbed one and ran away as fast as I could. But I didn't know where I was going. It was cold, very cold. I thought if I could just save one, but he was so heavy. Eventually the sherriff picked me up and returned the lamb to the rancher. I still wake up some nights and hear them screaming.

Did he make you perform fellatio on him? (This question applies to all of the rancher, the sherriff or the spring lamb...)

you'd better check that I.D. in good lighting. I had a buddy got caught doing something similar and things looked bad for him. The Prosecuting Attorney must have had a friend like that when he was a young man as well though. He was very understanding and they plea bargained it down to Following Too Close. I'm not casting judgment. I'm only saying be careful.

I'd say our floor is actually 10-2. Would anybody be okay with anything less? 9-3 would (presumably) mean going 0-3 against MSU, Iowa, OSU. There would be a lot of diappointed people around Ann Arbor if that were the case. I just can't picture that. I would say our final record from last year is our absolute floor.

I also have a hard time saying that Jim will never have a less talented team than he had last year. Watch this coming year's NFL draft. It will show that last year's UM team had 3 NFL players that have already been drafted, plus another, idk, 10 or more, that will be drafted this spring. When all is said and done, Harbaugh had a lot of talent last year. I'm sure it won't be his most talented team here, but I highly doubt it will end being his least. Look just two years ahead to 2017 after we lose all these seniors to the draft, the majority of them on defense. We may be talented then, but we have no idea. We know that we are very talented right now, and we are returning most of this talent from last year's squad.

I still think Jim wins multiple National Championships here, I'm just saying.

This is true, although people forget that Bo's teams also had the ability to derp it up with the occasional "head scratcher" games where we lost to teams we shouldn't.

So a 9-3 season could plausibly also mean losing to 2 out of 3 between Iowa, MSU, and OSU, but then blowing some game elsewhere on the schedule.  Even so, that 9-3 mixture would still be disappointing in my mind.   So for me this year 10-2 would be "par"--and I'd rather lose to Iowa away in a night game but beat OSU or MSU.  I'd view 11-1 as "solid" especially if we won an excellent bowl game but didn't get the Big Ten Championship, but an 11-1 involving the Big Ten Championship would be a notch above "solid" to "excellent."  Obviously anything better than that involving the playoffs I'd be thrilled.

This is just my personal opinion but whether we rate it on a scale from terrible to excellent is irrelevant to me. This is a pass/fail season in my eyes. Are we satisfied when the season is over? I'd the only question that matters. If we beat OSU and MSU solidly and look better than them doing it, so that there's no question who the better team is, that would go a long way. But I'm tired of the narrative, and if Michigan falls just short of a Big Ten title, or gets to the playoff and gets steamrolled by Alabama or something, it will be hard to feel satisfied with this season. Because you know what the Sparties will be saying in that scenario, and I'm tired of that. I want them to shut the he'll up. I know, I shouldn't care what others think, but that's part of being a college football fan.

I actually don't believe it is possible for Jim and this team to lose to all three of those teams. We have vastly more talent than State and Iowa this year. I will eat an unpeeled pineapple if we lose both of those games. If we go into OSU undefeated and they have at least 1 loss, I bet we win that game as well.

Here it is folks, Dr. Toboggan's annual unpeeled pineapple bet: there's not a snowball's chance in hell we lose to both State and Iowa.

Man, I don't know.  Thinking of Michigan Football can give me an erection and I find it hard to sleep with one.  Sheep counting might be better (unless you are MeanJoe who may get an erection thinking of sheep).

I like to think about the revenge tour I'm going to embark on once my I get my inevitable terminal cancer diagnosis.

I hold grudges for an unhealthy length of time.

1.  I hope I can make it thru the nite without getting up to pee

2.  If I dont get to pee, I hope I don't wake up in pee

3.  I hope I wake up

I know, I know....I have high goals, don't I?
