FUCKING HELL. Three instance of missed PI, one that decides the game, the other that costs us at least three points, and not ruling the hemingway call a touchdown....unfucking believeable.

We got screwed by a couple of bad calls, but better play always trumps that.  Take away those two unforced turnovers, and we're probably looking at a game-winning FG as opposed to 4 tries to get into the endzone.

But wow is it frustrating to not see Denard in gun.  All. The. Time.

What bothers me is Denard OVERTHROWS....EVERY....DOWNFIELD....RECEIVER no matter how many steps he has on the D.  Tree had five fucking yards on his man for the TD, and predictably overthrown.

I love Denard too, but sheeesh.  The truth sometimes hurts.  Over throws every damn pass more than 20 yards.  No wonder they stack the box.

Above. Problem is Denard himself doesnt know where the ball is going so it's either way overthrown or under thrown. He is terrible at qb. He makes half the wife open passes or hits half the open running lanes on scrambles. We win and the refs couldn't hurt us.

but highly more desirable than throwing balls OOB with no chance to catch it OR over throwing guys open with, again, no chance to either run under it or simply catch it.

But it does appear we are playing both sides of the coin and for that, I denounce myself.

DRob sucked today and so did Borges.

Even when he was looking incredibly accurate early last year, he couldn't connect with the deep ball. Too much to hope for it to suddenly happen and work at this point in his career? Maybe, but his throwing was pretty good today everywhere else. Not great, and he forced a few (including the PI-no call INT) but wasn't terrible either.

Denard was ~13/24 w/130 yds throwing and 2 TDs. He had a pick that I'm not blaming on him because it was an on target throw that was only picked because of a PI no-call, sometimes that happens in football but it's not a QBs fault. Of his ten other incompletions, at least 4 (off the top of my head) were drops - two by Hemingway, one by Roundtree, one by Gallon. So before the last drive, Denard had 13 completions, 130 yards, and 6 incompletions that were his fault.

On the last drive yes he missed a lot. For some reason he threw it deep a lot - something he doesn't do effectively, and once he really would have made my day by completing it to Roudntree. I'm willing to bet that half of his other 6 incompletions were deep balls too - he can't throw the deep ball. I've come to accept this and decide it's still worth having him out there because of his running ability.

But before the last drive, I'd say yes he had a pretty good day. 13/19 for 130 yds and two TDs isn't so bad.  And on the last drive he was 4/13, with one of those being the PI no-call we're all so pissed about. So yea, he had an okay day. Not great, not terrible. Ok.

Yes the O has taken a step back - but even last year, it wasn't executed perfectly. It was very good, don't get me wrong, but they had their bad days too (see: Ohio, Gator Bowl).

Next year we lose Molk - a big loss, but not the end of the world. The O has been improving all year, and so has Denard's passing. We've got a tough schedule but I think we'll be B1G contenders next season.

But I agree regarding this year. We are who we though we were, not who we hoped we were.

no joke its hoke

I'm done with Denard at quarterback. It sucks to say that but everyone wants to defend him and yes he is a great kid, great runner and makes crazy shit happen but if you can't complete passes longer than 20 yards without just arm punting it into the sun than you are NOT a quarterback. Everyone say's yeah but look at the games he has won us and thats very true, but if he gets credit for that then he still get the credit for the losses like this one. I'm not saying that Gardner is that much better but fuck I can't wait till Shane Morris get here.

If these are the playcalls they're going to make, I can't wait for Morris to get here either.  I love Denard and think he could be doing great things this year.  At home Hoke/Borges seem much more flexible but on the road they get stubborn and demand way too much play action deep passes from under center.  That's not the strengths of Denard, our offensive line, or our wide receivers (except for Hemingway).

I don't have a problem with the offense itself (although it's not my favorite) but I do have a problem with it being run with these players.

if Denard doesn't try to force the ball to a well-covered Roundtree before the half, we are going in for the win at the end.  Poor decisions, poor throws, and drops are not Borges' fault...he got receivers open.

We shouldn't have been in the position of a refs bad call lose the game for us. EVERYBODY played horrible.  Denard can't pass for shit.  Roundtree can't catch.  Gardner can't think.  This team came out flat, period.  Al Borges should feel bad taking a paycheck from the University of Michigan.

Are we telling Denard not to scramble?  He actually had 0 scrambles today.  It does work.  Watch the game in 98 with McNabb.

You play that bad on offense for 50 mins..this is what happens. Clearly we have had a huge improvement on the D side of the ball.

I knew we would take a step back on O....but this is absolutely absurd. Does anyone know what we are. It seems like Borges continues to go away with what works and switches to something else.

At this point in the season I truly believe he is the weak link on this coaching staff. When given 3 step drops and throwing the ball Denard is fairly accurate. When you constantly have him take 5 to 7 step drops and trying to chuck it deep for no reason this is what happens.

Did it though? Don't think there was anything that definitely showed the ball moving when he hit the ground.

Biggest gripe for me on that play was that the sideline referee who had the best view of the ball immediately waved off the catch for being out of bounds, not for possession. He had the look at the ball and thought only the OB was the issue, which replay clearly showed his knee was down.

Referee waves off for OB. Hemingway clearly in-bounds. Play upheld presumably for possession? Doesn't make sense to me.

1990: MSU DB trips Desmond on 2PC that would have won the game, no call.

2011: Iowa DB clearly wrapped around Roundtree on TD that would have, w/ 2PC, tied to send the game to OT.

Not to mention the totally blown call by the official on Hemingway's TD catch, among others.

Don't get me wrong, Michigan beat themselves in large part today. Even so, they were only one score + 2PC from taking the game to OT with a chance to win. The refs should not be able to affect the outcome of the game like that.

Since the Refs post was removed, I'll do it here. B1G refs F-ING SUCKS!

So much for coping.

100% off the Borges bandwagon.  He's an arrogant old prick who thinks he smart enough to take the game out of his players hands.  Throughout the year, he has exhibited playcalling that has shown no regard for the players.

Four attempts from the three and not a rollout, option, or draw?  Thats pure bullshit where Borges decided he wanted to be the most important part of the offense, not the players.  You could have gotten the starters in the huddle and asked for a show of hands on all four plays and they would have scored a touchdown.

I hope this defense keeps developing, because the offensive personnel isn't going to have any major changes for two years and Borges seems very intent on submaring Denard and the rest of em.

And lastly, how can a coaching staff that has hammered down the "getting one running back in a rhythm" concept so much be so indifferent to keeping the QB in rhythm?

"What's that Denard?  You are starting to catch up with your pre-snap reads?  Well lets get you out wide and send you in motion at the snap!"

Fuck this.  I wish I had never come to MgoBlog and learned something about football offenses.
