Colin Castleton Appreciation Thread!!

This guy deserves so much credit!! Huge coming off the bench when Johns was in foul trouble. We talk so much about him transferring but man was he a key piece to this win. All those free throws after that Indiana win really paid off! Huge win for Coach Howard and for this team!!

Enormous contribution from Colin. Most important of his career thus far.  Sparked the 2nd half run, most importantly contributed to improved defense and rebounding during the middle 10 min or so of the 2nd half.

Yeah, the boxscore fails to represent what he meant to this game.  He was primarily responsible for saving us from the brink of that early 2nd half collapse.  He should get the figurative game ball.

He is uber skilled but the question is whether his frame allows filling out.  I thought it was a foregone conclusion on this board that he transfers out but after this maybe not.  I can't imagine both he and Davis stay, which would require both Nunez and Bajema departing.   Unless Livers goes pro.

Whether Juwan or one of the coaches got through to him, something seemed to have clicked mentally. He was playing freely and just competing hard--same thing that happened to Johns several games ago. This is coming together nicely...when a team starts getting contributions from a lot of people it makes everyone else play better too. Same thing happened in 2017-18 year, except this year the B1G is ultra-competitive pretty much top to bottom.

That's why I'm loving this team more and more. You never know who's going to step up. He not only brought some great play - he brought the swagger we needed. He was the next man up, and he brought it.

If I was Juwan - a humble man and good coach, I would immediately be inviting John Beilein to practice. Not to distract but to help and I guarantee JB would help because both dudes are high quality guys. Maybe it is a pipe dream but Michigan could absolutely benefit from some new input/approaches on Teske. Not a knock on Howard, he’s done wonders with Davis and even Brooks but if Michigan wants to be more than a round of 32 or Sweet 16 team they need more efficiency from Teske on offense. And we know who can do that.

I really don’t get this sentiment. Where have you ever seen a coach (or anyone in a leadership position really) ask the person they replaced (who, in this case, left of his own volition) to look over his shoulder? Humble or not, that seems foolish. Far better to be grateful for what Beilein did for the program, and move on from him.

As well as Davis has played recently...he is a little limited athletically. Colin brings that plus length! Was really amazed how he stuck with their perimeter players away from the basket.

such a great performance... and not a garbage time performance either; came in when the game was on the edge of being lost and made big plays at both ends.

Happy for the kid - i was really wondering what happened to him

I always thought his upside was better than both Davis and Teske because of the way he can move his feet. I was expecting more from him this year.

He still needs to add some strength.   Does he have two years eligibility left?

In all of these hypothetical "we can haz all the players" crootin' scenarios in which Coach has to chose a) Davis/handshake or b) Castleton/run off; games like this show that '21 Castleton (+off season seasoning & Camp Sanderson) is a better value than Davis.

That being said, I'm not a fan of running players out of town (looking at you Chis Collins/all of SEC).  Davis just may prefer a degree in hand and minutes on a smaller program.

In addition to all the hard work Colin has put in, he kept the faith. Positive attitude goes along way. Good to see Juwan made no bones about his faith in putting Colin in the game. This will pay off for the team as a whole for the remainder of the season.
