Though Michigan is not in, the coaches still have the near the Top 25. It's not like they aren't poised to be in.

I could say the same about Auburn. They were fire on Saturday. Their new Head Coach, Bryan Harsin, had them flying high. I know it was just Akron they played. But Still, they were on fire, like I haven't seen from Auburn in a while. They are at Penn St in 2 weeks. Penn St made that their White Out Game (they might make Michigan a second White Out Game). I will be watching. I think Auburn is going to win.

What’s the obsession with rankings around here?  Most people have predicted us to have 8-9 wins.  So why does it matter what we are ranked?  It doesn’t change our remaining schedule, our shot at the playoffs, or anything else. MSU honestly has more of an argument at being in the top 25 than we do.  If we run the table and beat OSU and aren’t in the top 4, then let’s get pissed off.  Until then…On to the next game.

The AP and Coaches polls get posted on this board every week, probably by different people every week. Soon as the CFP poll starts coming out, it will get posted every week here, just like it always got posted before.

I know it can be confusing, but there’s this thing called the associated press, which is made up of sports writers. Sports writers, as the name implies, write about sports. There’s another group of people who coach football, and those people are called ‘football coaches’.

Still with me? Good, now comes the tricky part - Both the ‘coaches’ and the ‘AP’ (who, again, are different groups with different members) vote in ‘polls’ on who they think are the best football teams in the country. These polls are not the same, and a thread about one has nothing to do with the other. Again, I know it can be hard - just do your best to keep up.

It's way too early for rankings. The preseason polls are worthless and obviously they missed the target this season. Some of the higher ranked teams looked REALLY bad.

Just like with the AP poll - who cares?  Michigan beat a directional MAC team in a warmup game after going 2-4 last season.  Show me more wins, and more consistency, before telling me they're one of the best teams in the nation.  I'm not buying, yet...

That aside, I do expect a 4-0 start.  But, from what I saw Saturday, I don't think 5-0 will be a thing.  Give me a competitive showing at Wisconsin before I believe this team has improved from the last couple of years.

What people don't realize about coaches is that they have no time to do anything else and get tunneled a bit... they don't have time to watch other games, save the teams they'll be playing in the near future... so they simply go off what the status quo was last year.     They become tone deaf, and lose perspective... its the great coaches that don't become this....
