Chase winovich and Grant Perry named captains for Peach Bowl

With the captains departing for the NFL and forgoing the bowl game, these two have been elected captains for the bowl game. Very well deserved for both players, especially Chase. Congratulations!

It has always been a curiosity. It is easy to speculate that his teammates resent  all of the attention he gets in the media. The guy plays the media like a drum and is relentlessly praised for his generosity, fantastic hair, and outgoing personality.  Resentment may have impacted the vote for captains. Regardless, this is a well-deserved honor and I am happy that he can add Michigan captain to his resume. I cannot think of a more deserving player in recent years.

Seems like another under-utilized receiving threat. After he started showing up on the scene 2(?) years ago, I thought he was going to be our go-to guy for 3rd & medium or less. Seemed like the guy caught everything in his radius. He largely vanished this year.

Seems like a team with Tarik/DPJ/Nico at WR, Gentry/McKeon at TE, and Perry in the slot should be passing the ball a whole lot more than we do. But what do I know...

Agree with all of this. WRs aren't going to come here if they see we couldn't manage to win with our record-setting receiver class and that those guys never even got much of an opportunity to contribute.

Would love to hear any more on those OC rumors. I'm still baffled by how Pep has a job and I'd love Harbaugh to bring-in a real OC and fully give him the reigns similar to how DB has total autonomy over the defense. Right now, I think we're suffering from too many cooks (this year we had Pep, Warriner, McElwain, and Harbaugh all involved in playcalling) and it's leading to a weird set of plays that feel redundant and unimaginative.

As a fellow Browns fan and Clevelander I agree. Fans are finally starting to realize everything he brings to the table. Too many base that all on flashy stats like INTs and Sacks, but Williams knows how critical of a role Pep plays.

Unfortunately though, there are still plenty of OSU + Browns fans that continue to hate.

Congrats to both.  I also was surprised that Chase wasn't a captain this year given what a team guy he is.

With regards to captains missing bowls in general the decision of any healthy player to skip definitely raises the question of whether captains should be held to a higher standard than other players.  In saying this I definitely acknowledge that Bush is coming off of an injury and that Higdon has a family to care for.

Saw an interview with Chase and he tried to slough it off as "a popularity contest" that he wasn't going to get caught up in, but he did seem disappointed. Even on a close team such as this one, there are going to be factions. Usually there is an onus placed on being a senior so I was surprised Chase was passed over. Kinnel is a senior and was a fine captain but Chase was the emotional leader of the entire team. Can't argue with Bush being a captain either. He played his ass off every play and made all the calls. Smart dude, will be a great pro.

Perry was so poorly underutilized in his career. He was rushed into a starting role too soon, but looked like a future slot ninja come the bowl game his freshman year. With Darboh emerging along with Butt and Chesson he was largely forgotten about as a sophomore but played great vs OSU. He for the majority of 2017 was our best receiver at getting open and actually catching the ball. This year with two big outside options and Gentry, he should have had a lot of favorable routes in the middle of the field this year. Yet never seemed to be out there or really an option when he was. I liked what Martin brought but I still think Perry was better, and by the end of the year we had McCurry out there over him and ran go routes to McKeon.
