"Note: This projection is based only on results to this point. It does not reflect the final forecast for the playoff. "

So in other words, he's not predicting we're going to beat Ohio State, or even MSU for that matter.  He's just saying, as of right now: undefeated P5 team, pretty solid SoS, good fancystats.

I know ...Indiana is down to its 5th string QB (3-4th strings guys left program) .msu loses to Indiana without the 11 yard pick 6 and the indiana fumble at its own 17  Maryland lost two of its best offensive  weapons, has a horrible OL and might be the worst tackling team in BIG10...PSU has a hobbled QB .no run game and lost its 2 best defensive players for the year (be like Michigan losing Hill and Hutchinson-kinda impact)    MSU o-line is below avg and MSU got a ton of timely turnovers early in the year ,literally  4 straight games an opponent fumbled and threw an INT inside its own 40 all 4 games ,setting up MSU for easy 14 points in those games .   Im betting Michigan has double digit wins in these 4 games

Michigan 31-20 over MSU

Michigan 31-10 over Indiana

Michigan 27-17 over PSU

Michigan 45-24 over Maryland

Could you imagine if we finally had a team that was 11-0 and we finally get to play OSU at home with a great team?  It just seems like every year we have a good team we have to play OSU at their s-hole place (2006 & 2016). I know it’s sad that we only have two instances but it is what it is. If we play those years at home, we beat OSU by multiple scores IMO (which isn’t very valuable). Go Blue!

I get what you're saying but Im sure it's considerably lower than that. You'd have to be at like 75% win vs MSU and 90% win vs everyone else to get close to 50%. But I'll admit the thought of an undefeated matchup with OSU first popped into my head yesterday - if you can get past MSU, the path certainly seems to be there right now

Weird compared to preseason expectations how much more manageable our schedule became

Agreed, the "okay but let's wait until we play [x]" mentality is hard to understand.  Pretty much every team loses a game eventually, so that can't be the only condition for happiness.

This ranking is a good reminder that most teams have lost a game already.  60 out of 65 power five teams have lost.  121 out of 130 FBS teams.  Getting this far has been fun, particularly given the feelings before the season.

Nice. But let's see continued winning this weekend.

Also, it looks like there's believers in Cade McNamara outside the silliness going on about him inside this place.

Agreed.  A big problem with these media pundits with forecasts is that they are always wrong!  If M wins out, M could easily finish #1 in these rankings, or even finish outside of them.

I am all for one game at a time and ignoring this media hype though it's fun to talk about.  Too easy to forget that our next opponent is MSU, with PSU and OSU (and Indiana & Maryland) still lurking.

Based on results so far, no reason to not believe in Cade (with JJ in the background)!

Yes, way, way, way too early to drink such Kool Aid.  Let's see Michigan win the big game Saturday.  Appreciate you sharing this interesting tidbit from CBS Sports though.

Listening to ESPNU this evening on Sirius and Ryan Leaf projected/ predicted the winner of the Michigan - MSU game would be CFP ranked #2 next Tuesday.

Hopefully that puts Cincy out of the top 4. They're the weakest top 4 team in a long time.

But the only ranking that matters comes out next Tuesday night. Hopefully those voters have more sense that putting Cincy in the top 4.

I don't think so...  Cincinnati is a good team that can play with good P5 teams.  Could they succeed in a P5 conference?  Probably not at the level they're getting attention at now.  Not even in the B1G West!  Week in and week out, they just don't have the horses.  But in a one-off game (like Notre Dame), yeah, absolutely they can compete.

I'll say it right here - UC would beat the pants off Iowa.  Iowa's offense is putrid.

and Iowa could force 6 turnovers and beat Cincy 24-3...no one is beating the pants off iowa ,esp Cincy  ..maybe OSU Bama would but no one else would destroy iowa, they milk the clock and will always get 2 turnovers in any game and sometimes they get 4-5 turnover and no ones winning with 4 turnovers

Michigan may not be a top 5 team or maybe not even a top 10 team but this type of press is always good with the young kids/recruits. I remember thinking in the last several years if we could just get a competitive team on the field I would be happy. Well, we have a team that has exceeded expectations so far, won two away games that many thought would not happen and now have the opportunity to play a game at one of their biggest rivals to crack the top 5. BPone is certainly alive around these parts but this team has well exceeded BPone range. Let’s live a little bit this year! I will be at the Indiana game in less than two weeks. I can’t wait to be ranked 4th in the country! Go Blue!

It just means that if we win out we're golden.

But as others have said, we really haven't played anyone really good yet.  That's fine, but I'm not getting excited about our playoff potential until we win this weekend.
