CC: Schefter's latest tweet on Harbaugh - EDIT: NOW COVERED ON FRONT PAGE.

Submitted by michgoblue on

Sorry, in advance, for starting my 3rd thread of the day.  I rarely start threads (less than 2-3 per months).

Thought this would be of interest:

Schefter's latest tweet:

"Worth noting: Jim Harbaugh does not have blind loyalty to Michigan. He still remembers being bypassed for Mich QB coaching job in 2002."

What does this mean?  First Brian, now Schefter - these cryptic messages are killing me.

holds a grudge as much as isn't blindly loyal to his alma mater. Harbaugh realizes that he doesn't have to coach at Michigan just because he played at Michigan. Also, as with anything there is a business aspect to this situation, and Harbaugh knows that first hand because he was passed over for a job here that he wanted... and possibly felt more qualified for. JH probably likes being where he is at Stanford while at the same time having long-term NFL coaching aspirations. We as fans see it is as we need a savior for our struggling program and he (JH) is a "genius" who played here so why not come here and save your alma mater? He may see it as whatever his personal goals may be which may be the NFL..so his answer might be 'it's not my goal and not my mess.'

He's backpeddling significantly (but not totally) from his "JH to Michigan" optimism of last week so that, no matter what happens, he can say he was right.

Yeah, I suppose the difference is that for reporters it's about the attention generated from the activity of people like us, who live and die by what happens when it comes to Michigan, while they move on to the next story.  Our motives are pure, whereas these guys are about riding the coattails of the buzz they generate.

Adam is useless as far as this situation is concerned. His opinion changes like weather in Michigan. This guy has become a huge annoyance. Section 1 was right. I feel dirty after that last sentence.

What does it mean?  It means he likes showing off his knowledge of coach-hiring history, and wants to sound like a guy who has useful analysis worth following.

I'm about to tweet that Harbaugh and Michigan each have eight letters, and that Harbaugh's deeply superstitious nature is what sealed the deal on him going to eight-lettered Stanford back in '06.

Jim Harbaugh is coming to Michigan.  He is going to get a blank check and an opportunity to rule this conference for years to come.  He is coming.

Is for some reason he doesn't come, Brandon is not going to hire Joe Smoe, also known as Brady Hoke and other "he can't coach at Michigan" guys.  This has to be THE hire and it will be.  It is going to be a "holy shit" hire, whether it is JH or not.
