Can fired / ex- staff members still get championship rings?
January 9th, 2024 at 3:21 PM ^
I want Partridge back.
January 9th, 2024 at 3:25 PM ^
Partridge is an ace recruiter, but I think the LB's looked better under Rick Minter's coaching than Partridge.
Rick probably goes back into retirement, but if there is a way to keep Rick around, especially if it keeps Jesse around also, I say go with that.
January 9th, 2024 at 4:42 PM ^
Partridge is an ace recruiter
No he's not. Nor is he anything but a mediocre coach. Michigan's next hire will be better as a recruiter in 2024+ and they'll be a better coach as well.
January 9th, 2024 at 4:42 PM ^
No you don't.
January 9th, 2024 at 11:38 PM ^
Ugh... As I recall, his termination letter noted that he is no longer eligible to be an employee of the University of Michigan.
January 9th, 2024 at 3:22 PM ^
*meant John Harbaugh for his coaching "pipeline"
January 9th, 2024 at 3:23 PM ^
Nice try, Connor Stallions 👌🏽
January 9th, 2024 at 3:38 PM ^
$18.99 on wish, Stalions may have his before the players
January 9th, 2024 at 3:23 PM ^
Intetesting and good point. Partridge for sure. Poggi deserves huge credit but was gone before the season, i think.
January 9th, 2024 at 3:24 PM ^
There was a great line today on McAfee’s show about Stalions creating his own ring via Jostens. Hilarious!
January 9th, 2024 at 3:26 PM ^
Speaking of staff members getting rings, did anyone catch any good pictures of Denard celebrating the championship win? Any pics of him celebrating with Mike Hart would be even better, and the both of them with Blake Corum would be perfection
January 9th, 2024 at 3:26 PM ^
I would imagine its at Harbaugh's / the program's discretion as to who they feel deserves a ring or not.
I have my own personal opinion about whether or not I think someone like Conner Stalions or Chris Partridge deserve a ring, but that's not for me to decide. The only thing I would say is that I would find it really funny to see Michigan give them a ring if for no other reason than to give a middle finger to the NCAA, Pettiti, OSU, and everyone else out there who tried blowing this whole situation up into something much worse than it was.
January 9th, 2024 at 4:08 PM ^
Partridge? Maybe.
Stallions? Yeah, NO.
January 9th, 2024 at 3:31 PM ^
What? Why would be give a fired employee being investigated for a crime a ring?
Relax and enjoy the win.
January 9th, 2024 at 3:39 PM ^
You really think Weiss is still being investigated 1 year later for a crime?
January 9th, 2024 at 3:54 PM ^
Yes. It seems quite certain that Weiss is still being investigated unless people were just lying in October.
Quote from late October.
"The University of Michigan Police Department has partnered with the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding the Matt Weiss unauthorized computer access incident," the police said in an email on Thursday.
"Currently, the investigation is extensive, ongoing, and is of the utmost priority. Additional information will be provided when available."
January 10th, 2024 at 8:14 AM ^
"A crime ring." What is this? RCMB?
January 9th, 2024 at 3:34 PM ^
Partridge and (ugh) Stallions should get one. I don't think the others were involved in 2023-24 except to build the foundation in previous years.
January 9th, 2024 at 4:44 PM ^
No they should not.
January 9th, 2024 at 4:49 PM ^
It's not really a discretionary thing. If you were on the staff at some point in 2023 season, you get one.
January 9th, 2024 at 3:37 PM ^
Stalions should get a statue next to Jim's that can only be seen in certain light at certain angles
January 9th, 2024 at 4:12 PM ^
Put sunglasses on it to keep up the disguise, but only at night.
January 9th, 2024 at 6:03 PM ^
...but on the CMU campus
January 9th, 2024 at 3:40 PM ^
Stalions and Partridge yes because they were a part of the 2023 team.
Weiss fuck no, Poggi no. Neither were members of this team.
January 9th, 2024 at 4:45 PM ^
You give Stallions a ring and the NCAA will vacate the championship. That would be a very bad decision that Warde would never allow to happen.
January 9th, 2024 at 7:58 PM ^
Bullshit... Warde won't ever do it, nor would Harbaugh. But the NCAA will never, EVER, vacate this win.
It's not the NCAA's Championship to vacate, dummass.
January 9th, 2024 at 10:30 PM ^
Ah you know so little but think you know so much. Next time you want to come to the big boy table and say shitty things maybe try actually knowing something. Get back to me when you do. Until then you can get bent.
If the NCAA vacates the wins from the regular season then the CFP will vacate the championship. The NCAA has no plans to do that nor does the CFP, but you give Stallions a ring and they will. The NCAA investigation isn’t done. The current plan is to put it in the past and be done with it. But if Michigan allows Stallions to receive a ring Michigan will be hammered. The CFP committee checked with the NCAA before allowing Michigan in because they didn’t want a vacated champion. But they will follow the NCAAs lead. Know what I know and knowing what I know you don’t know I can say with full confidence that you don’t know shit.
January 9th, 2024 at 8:08 PM ^
Poggi was instrumental in the creation of this team. Some sort of recognition would be appropriate.
January 9th, 2024 at 3:46 PM ^
No, the NCAA controls the Ring Industry.
January 9th, 2024 at 3:47 PM ^
I wouldn't be suprised if they quietly sent Partridge one, since he wasn't actually involved in the Stalions stuff. You can't give Stalions one as long as the investigation is ongoing, but it would be an awesome troll move if they did after things settled down.
January 9th, 2024 at 4:45 PM ^
No it wouldn't. What Stallions did hurt the team and put negative focus on the team. The exact opposite thing that Jim Harbaugh stands for.
January 9th, 2024 at 3:58 PM ^
Stallions caused us a tremendous amount of embarrassment, risked so much by getting Harbaugh suspended, and seems to have defrauded Blake by putting his name on a company he wasn’t part of. I don’t get how there are apologists for him within the fan base. No ring and I’d like him banned from anything related to the program
January 9th, 2024 at 4:05 PM ^
Stalions had full consent to do everything he did. They just kept it plausible deniability for obvious reasons. He's a hero
January 9th, 2024 at 4:08 PM ^
What he did was a pointless and certainly not approved by anyone. There was no advantage gained from his actions.
January 9th, 2024 at 4:12 PM ^
You really believe that? Do you really think that Harbaugh or anyone else on the coaching staff ordered him to weasel his way onto CMU's sideline so that he could maybe catch a glimpse of MSU's signals from the other side of the field?
January 11th, 2024 at 9:22 AM ^
I fully believe that nothing happens in any good program without the knowledge of a head coach or those close to the head coach with autonomy.
January 9th, 2024 at 6:05 PM ^
Even leaving aside the SignGate stuff, which I think we all know is bullshit, but was still disruptive, there's that whole trade on Blake Corum's name without Blake's consent which is in itself grounds for Fuck Conor
January 10th, 2024 at 12:41 AM ^
This. Regardless of the severity (or lack of it) around signgate, the dude is a fraud. Not to be lauded, all else being equal, which it’s not, so doubly so.
January 9th, 2024 at 4:02 PM ^
As long as they didn't break a written rule. Making stuff up because your butthurt doesn't matter and isn't collegial.
January 9th, 2024 at 4:05 PM ^
George Helow should get one. Inserting him as a double agent in the Tide is straight out of the manifesto, page 47.
January 9th, 2024 at 4:07 PM ^
Partridge-Yes. He was on the staff into November. Anybody else gone before the start of the season-No. Stalions-No Way!
John Harbaugh is not being paid from the athletic department at Michigan.
If that's the case, all of us loyal fan deserve a ring for our support, devotion. Why not for all of the season ticket holders? When you mention the word deserving, it could mean many thousands. Jim Harbaugh has often thanked the fans for making the program as successful as it currently is.
January 9th, 2024 at 8:01 PM ^
I'd gladly accept a ring. I kept the faith through the whole SignGate saga and kept singing the praises of Michigan Football. Surely, my contribution played a part in Michigan's triumph!
January 9th, 2024 at 4:41 PM ^
Partridge? No
Weiss? Absolutely, positively, definitely NO
Biff Poggi? No
Stalions? Absolutely not. That's how you get the NCAA to vacate the championship and would be insanely stupid.
January 9th, 2024 at 8:02 PM ^
Such a dumb statement...
Partridge should, and will, get one. Stalions will not. But there is no chance of a vacated football Championship. JFC.
January 10th, 2024 at 8:54 PM ^
Yes, I think JIM HARBAUGH should get a ring!!! WTF!?!?
