Exactly what I was thinking. People chill out. What happens if RichRod comes back, we eventually get a D, and we start winning again? Will you refuse to cheer or refuse to say RichRod is a good coach? Stop being bandwagoners. Don't jump off when things are bad. Give me a break. Be a Michigan fan. Not just a Michigan fan when winning. Even if we lose today, we could still get 1-2 more and have the record most of us predicted at the start of the year.

So if we fired RR now & hired another coach, there wouldn't be a transition?

There WOULD be. And it wouldn't "save another year of suffering through this." Not at all. It would keep the transition going.

My point is that we knew what we had at the start of the year but thanks to Denard's quick start it got our expectations way higher than what we initially thought. We KNEW our defense could and probably would doom us. How is that such a surprise now? We are in the Top 3 for offense in the entire country. I'd say that's progress. We need help on defense -- and that is exactly where we thought we'd be at the start of the year.

I'll say, this game removes my presumption in favor of RRod.  I think he is an all out genuine guy and would love to see him as a Michigan dynasty coach, but if he can't win against this Penn State, then I think the clock starts counting before we start over unless he can prove otherwise.  I would love to see a miraculous comeback though and momentum.

Lloyd's fault!!!

Seriously though....  This defense is BAD!  They're gettin blown off the line, and pushed around like nothin!  This is NOT Michigan Football!  I can't remember the last time I gave up and turned the game off, but I'm really thinking of going to bed!  That Stanford team looks good though!

Now bring on the negatron points!

Won't be locked unless it devolves into name calling between commenters or such immense stupidity such as calling RR stupid names.

EDIT: Oh, and those still committed to RR, including myself, have their own points. Their arguments are totally invalid. Doesn't mean that they are totally right. We all understand this. Just breathe deep before trying to respond.

When they panned over to RR he had the same look on his face as he did when Pitt beat them and cost WVU a chance at a MNC. Deer in headlights.

You know their offense is having a day when they interview  Paterno and he is all  pretty much positive when talking about them.  He always finds something to criticize.

I know that everyone will point to the injuries and the like, but PSU have the same problems and just pout up 28 points with a walk-on QB and were able to slow down the offense for UM.  At some point, that goes to coaching, and RR deserves to be ridiculed.  I'm not calling for him to be canned, but you HAVE to play better than this after 2 weeks.

...I have been stalwart in his defense.

But really, have we seen any improvement from 3 years ago?

Yes, Forcier and Robinson are significantly better than Sheridan and Threet.  And so, we are able to score points a litlle easier.  But other than that, are we better.

At this point, with 7.5 games as a marker...t sadly have to say the answer is no.

Even if RRod somehow miraculously wins two more games, I am not convinced that his upside is as high as I believed.  Tonight is the first time I have really questioned that.  But right now, i need to see some glimmer of hope..and I only see darkness right now.

I will be so mad if these last three years were for nothing. I like our chances next year with RR. I know it's frustrating, but another coaching staff means more rebuilding...

I don't really feel like switching back to a pro style offense and watching this team suck even longer..  At least our Defense is the youngest in the big ten and has room to improve, but the preparation for this game was pathetic..

The playcalling on the first drive said it all..

Once again give it to fucking vincent smith on third and 3 and he gets smashed by the first guy that touches him..

Meanwhile a "healthy" shaw and hopkins sit on the fucking sideline..

I agree, I don't want to go back to a pure pro-style offense--we'd miss out on a spark plug like Denard.  I just want to see a guy that adapts his game plan to the defenses in his conference.  RR just didn't learn from his repeated mistakes, which is surprising because he seems like a very bright football mind.

It is really fuckin pathetic we can't adapt to anything even with young players in our god damn defense.. Ive watched Vinopal miss about 5 or 6 tackles on Royster already when he could stop him for a short gain..

Then on that fucking floater touchdown Vinopal totally fucked that up too..  He had no reason to dive for the ball, all he had to do was run up and jump up and catch it..

This game is long over unless tate takes over, denard clearly cannot pass this game again

Two weeks to prepare and script the first few plays. aaaand you get 3rd and 3 and Iso with Smith?

I ripped Sparty up and down today. I deserve it back times a billion. The offense has been a major disappointment. I don't care how many yards, fun times and other assorted goodies RR 'gives'.

The Offense has not done its job. That alone is enough to send RR packing.

The biggest frustration is RR always says our guys are too young yet to implement a lot of different plays..  How fuckin old do they have to be to implement anything with trickery or something that isn't completely predictable..  It is truly sad

and out of the I formation too.  Seriously, we are so much easier to defend when we do that. It takes away Denard completely as a run option. Didn't understand that call at all.

Total gift to Penn State. Again, you should play to your strengths and make the other team stop it.

In another dialogue a few days ago that Jim Harbaugh actually was recruiting around the same 17 players as Michigan was recruiting.  I believe he mentioned something about him coaching to the players and not specifically to a system as Rich Rodriguez has done with his time at Michigan.  I really, really wanted Rich Rodriguez to succeed as I point to the WVU/Oklahoma game after we hired Rich Rodriguez...the problem is I have yet to see that style of coaching or innovation here at Michigan.  We still hand the ball off to Vincent Smith on 3rd and 1 for him to fall down on an arm tackle.  I want to see some Pat White execution, and regardless of Denard's experiece he is capable of more, but week after week we see the same failed plays in the same situations.  Plus our defense get's worse by the week, I have not seen improvement in any one area which is the most alarming situation about the whole coaching staff.   Again, I have supported Rich Rodriguez, he was dealt a tough hand, but this is ridiculous, Minnesota took it to PSU and we have 10 points!

This team will get clocked by ohio state so bad, it won't even be funny.  I cannot believe what I am watching.  I am not even mad anymore.... I have just become sad and apathetic.  I used to love fall saturdays, now I loathe them.  Is this hell?

I still think we keep RR for another year and fire Greg. RR did great things with the offense. he has made some questionable calls but at the same time he has the potential to have something great we just need our defensive plays to change

Penn St. is really not very good, but we're making them look like champions.

Penn State is really not very good this year, but they actually are playing pretty well tonight.  Our defense isn't playing well, but a lot of it has to do with the Penn State playcalling, which is quite good tonight.  They are doing very few things offensively, but they are doing them well.  I've seen quite a bit of Penn State this year and this is the best I've seen them play offensively.  Despite the fact that their QB is a walkon, he is playing much better than Bolden has shown this year.  They clearly went back to basics and are playing a very classic Penn State game, which is something they weren't doing with Bolden at QB.
