Buckle Up? Update: It's safe to unbuckle for now

Submitted by EastCoast Esq. on

STUPID EMBEDDING.... Brandon Brown is saying the buzz is back. That usually means a commitment is imminent. I'm guessing A.J. Harris?

EDIT: The comments below refer to my embedding fail. I gave up on trying to properly embed the tweet.

EDIT2: Well this was a failure of a thread. Apparently Brown is saying that a commitment today is unlikely.

Oh yeah. He seems to write a ton of "Are we on commit watch?" stories, but you read it and the kid says something about how he wants to take his time. I like Tim, but Brandon doesn't add anything to that site.

Anyone else in favor of a moratorium on speculative "buckle up" posts like this? Just let the kids do their thing and celebrate with a big "HELLO" post. Don't understand the need to be first to report something that may or may not happen.

The "Buckle Up" posts are fine, but the source should be considered. Brandon Brown putting a bumble bee emoji on Twitter does not mean anything to me. I believe he also posted one several hours after Josh Ross committed on Tuesday morning, and obviously nothing has happened in the last 48 hours.

If Sam Webb or TomVH or Steve Lorenz says we should "buckle up" (or something close to it), then speculation is probably warranted.

People forget that Brown started EXACTLY the same way Lorenz did only a year or two later. And he had exactly the same career path. Except Brown had a brief stop at MGoBlog and Lorenz was rumored to be having a brief stop at MGoBlog. Tom had a similar career path and all three are now at competing national recruiting sites. So I don't get the animosity for Brown. Hell, I don't get the unprofessional "butt hurt" attitude Lorenz had at 247 toward Brown when Brown had his own site given that Brown was following Lorenz's exact roadmap.

I don't think anyone's "animosity" for Brown has anything to do with where he started. I wouldn't describe my own thoughts as "animosity." I simply don't think he's on top of the game. He did a lot of completely irrelevant interviews of recruits when he was at MGoBlog, seems late to the party on a lot of news stories, etc., etc.

If anything, I think his connection to MGoBlog should probably elevate him in the eyes of those people who enjoy this blog so much. But you'll notice that people don't speak of him as glowingly as they do of Sam, Lorenz, TomVH, etc. There's a reason for that.
