Bring Willie Taggart Home?

Yesterday, right after FAU's loss to Western Kentucky Coach Taggart was fired after 3 seasons. After underwhelming tenures at FSU and FAU I'm not sure there's another FBS HC job for Tag. He will likely have to take a coordinator job OR drop to the FCS ranks if he wants to continue as a HC.

Or? What about bringing coach Tag back on staff to takeover the Biff Poggi role as Associate HC? He's a great recruiter with a ton of Florida connections and relationship builder with young men, and he will be collection buyout checks from FSU and FAU so a lesser role on staff with moderate pay to help rebuild his rep seems like a solid move. Obviously Coach Harbaugh gave Tag his start in coaching, wouldn't mind bringing him back to add to this elite staff. Especially if we have any coaches poached over the offseason.

He’s 46 years old. He hasn’t had much success as D1 HC, but I doubt he’s “flamed out”.

The only negatives I remember about Taggart in terms of character were the ones with the Oregon workout regimen, where a few players ended up hospitalized. Is there something else?

As a big WKU fan and having watched them run off Taggart so they could get…Petrino…I would love to see him with Harbaugh.  When Jim was still in the NFL he got special permission from the NCAA to help his dad recruit.  And since WKU was looking at shutting down football that meant taking a van to Florida and picking up recruits and driving them back to Bowling Green.  Taggart was one of those players and he’s been a big deal in the Harbaugh family ever since. He is a good coach and turned around WKU (winless for two years before he took over), even if he’s “just an analyst” he’s value added.

They don't understand the role of analysts.   They do the dirty work for the assistant coaches..watches the Buckeye game tape and breaks them down.  Hell he might can help Ron B with some needed pass concepts.   Also with Biff getting a HC gig, Biff might take some assistants with him so he might be needed

I’ve felt this for a couple years now, since he and Jim are so close. Plus, even with some of his failures as a head guy, he still seems like a well respected football mind and I think would add to the family culture Harbaugh has built.

Oregon was a “dream” job.  Then he used  the Oregon plane to interview with FSU.  Only he called it a recruiting trip to Florida.  Ethics are a problem.  He left a real sour taste in the mouth of Oregonians.

I don’t care about the downvotes, but I know Taggert’s story on a more personal level. He was failing at USF and had to call on his old coach from Manatee High in 2015 (Kinnan). Then USF went on their “run” which he parlayed into the Oregon job which he then spurned for FSU. Taggert and his pal Raymond Woodie are trash. Kinnan is a legend here and a true football mind. His success was because of him. I am not going to get into his personal choices on here because he’ll never be a part of this program. I do wish Michigan could recruit this area better. Look up the athletes from Manatee county, FL not including the IMG kids. There are some gems and I was pumped to see Upshaw get his offer and be a part of what Harbaugh is building.
