I wanna see that breakdown of upperclass OL you put together for Michigan's best years. I agree with Brian, add it to a diary please! It sounds like it would make for good discussion.

I posted this in another thread a few days ago, but this info gleaned from the UM roster stats archive at the Bentley site, and a bit from Wikipedia. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some inaccuracies in a few instances, but I think in the main this is good info.
Whether all of this is truly determinative is a good question, as I've admittedly cherry-picked the years. It's possible that the less-successful Michigan seasons since 1969 also featured a significant upperclassmen presence in the OL.
Regardless, it seems to be an especially good thing to have experienced interior OL, particularly at center

A quibble - in '97, Hutch and Backus were RS freshmen and I believe Brandt (also a RS FR) started over Ziemann.
August 21st, 2014 at 3:45 PM ^
According to the UM football stats at the Bentley site, Ziemann started 9 games to Brandt's 2, so that's why I listed Ziemann. Whether the info on that site is dead accurate, I can't say.
http://bentley.umich.edu/athdept/football/fbteam/1997fbt.htm
You're right that Hutch and Backus in terms of playing experience were RS freshmen; depending on the source, academic year is listed (as here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1997_Michigan_Wolverines_football_team), or playing experience is.
There are probably other similar corrections that could be made to my list, so have at it.

was an All B1G guy but I don't think even he could pull off being a Junior in '06 and a RS Soph in '11. I think you meant to put Schofield in there, who played most of the season after Barnum went down with an injury.

I enjoyed listening to the segment. I like hearing the take of those who seem to be a little more in tuned to the inside than the rest of us average Joe's.
9 days. Leh go.

For those arriving late to this thread and who might like to listen to the segment, it looks as if WTKA has now got the roundtable up, albeit broken into its various segments. The link to the listings is right here - LINK - and it should be the top few on the page. Very good to see this back again and a good show today indeed.

discussed before, but does anybody think Sam Webb has an MGoBlog profile? Just curious. Obviously he reads, but is he on here secretly?
