I'll never forget the hapless feeling when Bowden visited Ann Arbor in 1991 and soundly kicked our ass to the tune of 51-31.   I was a very bummed undergraduate student walking home after that game.

While this is true, remember that Moeller shut down the offense in the second half and did his best Bo impression - try to control the clock to keep the other offense off the field, win the game through defense.  But Bowden didn't play along - he kept his team wide open.

It's a lesson that Michigan football still hasn't learned...

We all have a terminal condition: Life. And that's about as much information as was in the OP and the linked article. The guy is 91 years old and still alive. This is not newsworthy and certainly not MGoBlog worthy.

"This is not newsworthy and certainly not MGoBlog worthy... It's a University of Michigan sports blog."

The weekly "what are you drinking" threads are not newsworthy and long discussions of artisanal beers and bourbons have nothing to do with University of Michigan sports, but going by your avatar it's obvious you don't give a shit about that lack of relevance.

This is a sad day for college football. Bobby Bowden was part of a golden era of college football. His FSU teams along with Miami changed the game with their speed. He was so consistently good at FSU. So consistently elite.

He did it with Southern charm and congeniality that won over so many recruits families and media members.

He was a character that, while not buffoonish, wasn’t the stolid, grim personages that dominate the game now. College football really could use a Bobby Bowden right about now.

Awful for Bobby and the Bowden family. I always liked Bobby Bowden. He was a gentleman, gracious in victory and defeat, and very candid in his assessments of his team and their quality of play.
