Big Ten Championship Game Open Thread
Nebraska-Wisconsin. 8:00PM EST on FOX. Gus Johnson and Charles Davis are calling the game.
Various sources have the line in favor of Nebraska by 3. If Nebraska wins, Michigan is all but assured the Capital One Citrus Bowl against A&M (likely) or Georgia, while the conversation is a bit more complicated if Wisconsin wins.

UCLA only beat NU 36-30.

I'm still waiting for the day they discover that Taylor Martinez is actually left-handed.

Your B1G Championship Game attendees..
What a piss poor showing
Had free tickets and left middle of the second quarter. Glad I only had to drive 22 miles back home in Indy. Some heads need to roll on this crap job.

Oh no Ball is going to overtake Mike Hart
December 1st, 2012 at 11:33 PM ^
Lost a few, gained a few, got pulled to applause? I think he didn't surpass MH.
When the stat went up he needed four yards. First carry to number 3, not Ball.
Next play to Ball for a loss of 2. Next play Ball for 1 or 2. Then Ball off to applause. Hart's numbers hold if FOX's numbers are right (and Bell doesn't come back in tonight).

Don't his stats in the bowl game count?
December 1st, 2012 at 11:28 PM ^
Wait a minute, Michigan can fall all the way to the Gator Bowl?
Jacksonville sucks.
December 1st, 2012 at 11:29 PM ^
I don't think it's likely. We haven't been to the Outback Bowl in a decade, so they're not going to pass us up.
December 1st, 2012 at 11:53 PM ^
that would require the people who run the Outback Bowl turning down free money and taking NU
so book your tickets to Tampa happily

I be like what an embarrassment to the B1G. Welcome to the Big Ten, Nebraska, now please stop soiling yourself in the championship game, m'kay?

Nebraska used to do it all the time.
December 1st, 2012 at 11:29 PM ^
I mean they are just running the ball....
December 1st, 2012 at 11:29 PM ^
What are they supposed to do? Pass the ball?
December 1st, 2012 at 11:30 PM ^
Not really. They are running the ball every play. It is up to Nebraska to stop them. Running up the score would be calling 4 Verts every time.

Its the championship game.
Its on Nebraska for losing like this.

Minnesota head coach Henry L Williams, back in the day, published a guide to football strategy based on your field position that included this sage advice:
"Inside the 10-yard line: take no chances, punt immediately".
Ron Zook would approve

I believe Bielema put up 80 on Indiana a couple years ago. He'll run up the score on you if he can.
edit: 83-20 back in '10

Was it deplorable sportsmanship when Michigan did this?
- 1977 Wisconsin: 56-0
- 1977 Northwestern: 63-20
- 1978 Duke: 52-0
- 1978 Northwestern: 59-14
- 1979 Northwestern: 49-7
- 1979 Wisconsin: 54-0
- 1980 Illinois: 45-14
- 1981 Illinois: 70-21
- 1982 Northwestern: 49-14
- 1982 Minnesota: 52-14
- 1982 Purdue: 52-21
One game is highlighted because the point differential is worse than Wisconsin - Nebraska. You may not like Wisconsin, but they are winning with Michigan style Manball.

Simon Bolivar once said "The art of victory is learned in defeat." If that's true, then by God the future should be bright!

and I specifically logged in so that I could declare that I knew Neb was an effing fraud and they are so lucky to have made it to this game what with all the BS calls that went there way and the bad move by our coaching staff not to have had Devin ready to go against these frauds, ugh!!!!

Punting. Wow.
December 1st, 2012 at 11:37 PM ^
Why not? Clearly, they aren't going to win. No need for further embarassment.

nice to see nebraska not coming into the big ten and after a couple of seasons they win a big ten title.. not that i really care at all though.

Capital one bowl, don't be an asshole. Northwestern without question.

After the game, every nebraska commit decommits and goes to Maryland.

Where does UW find all these backs with breakaway speed? It seems like we've rarely had a back with an extra gear lately.

the 83-20 game was in 2010.
Also Michigan 49 - 3 vs MSU in '02, comes to mind :)

He said "games that got this ugly." That 2002 MSU game, you see, was a thing of pure beauty.
