Better to lose in the playoffs…

…than not make it.

I’m not happy about the score either, but I’m glad we made it this far.

100%.  Notre Dame fans know this.

Georgia is fucking....great? They had a bad game weeks ago.  I suspect that won't happen again next week; they've got the squad to compete with Bama if not beat them.  I'm just not sure I care enough to watch it again.

ND played Georgia twice in last 4 years

Both games went to the wire a 1 point and a 6 point loss.. Michigan got crushed by Georgia

Bama is on a different level.. You had no business getting blown out by Georgia

Even Clemson who had a bad year lost to Georgia  by only 7

It’s extremely pathetic that you spend your New Years on a rivals website. Oh btw, Michigan whooped your ass last time we played. Also every time you guys make the playoffs riding your cupcake soft schedule, you get blown out. It’s exactly why Kelly left. He knew he could never get it done at ND.

And you have no business on this board. The record shows that ND is our bitch, and the pile of blowout loss after blowout loss to us over the years is exactly the reason you’re here crowing about someone else’s success.
25-17-1 all time

 38-0

47-21

38-0

45-14

But I didn’t really need to name those because you still remember them all.

The Pistons had to lose before they won.  The Wings had to lose before they won.  The Bulls lost before they won.  The Lions los...  LMAO!!!  I can't even finish that!

But it's pretty rare to win right out of the gate.  These kinds of wins are coming - this is not MSU's playoff gift...

Sadly, today is Brandstatter's last game.  Dierdorf couldn't call the game.  Jon Jansen is pretty good.  Sober, frank, not an obvious homer.

Wish the game could've been more competitive.  But as folks have said and as is obvious, UGA is a really good team.

I'm sorry but that's what losers say.  You play to win Championships, period.  Michigan played the dumbest fucking game I've seen in years.  It's like they didn't even practice for the last month.

Or it’s like one team has twenty 5*s to our three?

This year was a success. You want to win national championships? Well, you have to win your conference to do that - something we haven’t done in freaking years. So yeah, many of us are rightfully going to celebrate this year and hope it’s a stepping stone to the ultimate goal.

Isn't the internet wonderful? You get to say whatever snarky things you want and the only negative consequence(s) is/are negative signs next to your moniker. Yep, that's about it.

Your opinions are insignificant and, more importantly, irrelevant - as are you.

Go Blue! B1G Champs!

"He has got to go.  Jim Harbaugh is the one holding this program back."—GoBlueSMB, 9-11-21

"The fact you think it's Gattis is laughable.  Dude, it's fucking Harbaugh...when are all of you gonna get it.  He is the problem...Jim dumbass Harbaugh happened. He's a Clown" —GoBlueSMB, 9-25-21

Going back to the beginning of the season, your comments on Michigan football are a long stream of bile and petulant resentment at not getting the pony that you think Michigan football owes you. What's revealing is what you comment on, and what you don't.

Your posts immediately after the MSU loss on 10-31 are your typical bitter spew, but then Michigan reeled off four successive wins, including the Penn State and Ohio State victories, and you didn't post a single comment for over a month.

Imagine pretending to be a Michigan fan and not posting one single, solitary positive comment after Ohio State. Your only comments on the BIG Championship beatdown against Iowa was one post whining about pass drops early in the game. The reason is obvious: those victories clearly undercut your notion that Harbaugh is a "clown" who should be fired.

But, predictably, the loss last night ended your Michigan victory-enforced silence so you can engage in your favorite activity: expressing your rage at not getting what you think you deserve.

I’ll take the season ending this way over losing to OSU and getting shown up by South Carolina in the Outback Bowl again.

They beat OSU, they won the Big Ten. I expected no better than 7-5 this season. Great season. Nothing can take that away. If OSU tries to troll, ask them where they were in the CFP bracket this season.

It was one bad game, no more, no less.

The bad news is that we have no guarantees how next season's squad is going to gell. All the incoming talent in the world will not necessarily play well as a unit, see this year's basketball team.

We should savor this year; it may be our high water mark for a while.

Yeah, tough to get your ass handed to you but I was thrilled to be there. Just wish both sides of the ball had been a bit better and it was a closer game

Rough game.

Man, what a great season though!
Win @ Wisconsin.
Come from behind @ Nebraska
Come from behind @ Penn. State
Win 10 of the other 11 games before THE Game.

BEAT Ohio State (42-27, lets talk about this more)
BEAT Iowa in the B1G Championship game.

That is a successful year without context....but following all of *motions at 2020* this was a GREAT season.
Proud of this team!

Excited for the future of Michigan football.

Go Blue!

Be of good cheer.  We made the college football podium:  Top 3 in the country.

Alabama and Georgia are clearly a level above everybody else.  Everybody else.

But who else is above us beyond those two?  Nobody else.  Certainly not Cincinnati.

At the start of the season we were not sure we were even in the top 3 in the Big Ten East.

remember when MSU made it and got smoked and we clowned them for months. Just a reminder how dumb that was.

A few years ago, I took $100 to a casino to play $5 blackjack, hoping to play for a couple hours and maybe break even.  About three hours later, I was up $600.  I left up $500, never betting more than $15 on a single hand.  Now, I could choose to be upset that I lost $100 at the end, or I could be happy about the $500 I won and the hours of enjoyment I had.

A year ago, the scuttlebutt was that Harbaugh might end up coaching the NY Jets this year.  We had one coordinator who had never called plays and another whose plays hadn't worked.  One new hire left mere weeks after being hired. The OL coach had never coached OL, and the guy we hired to coach WRs was now coaching DBs.  Every preseason prediction marked OSU as a "probable" if not "definite" loss.  The general consensus was something like 8-4, with losses to Wisconsin, OSU, Penn State, and maybe Washington or Indiana.  Hell, we were lucky to beat Rutgers last year, so 8-4 would have been a massive improvement.  The early season bowl predictions had us in the Las Vegas and Music City Bowls.

Instead, we did the following:

  • Paved Washington on offense, and defensively rendered them completely impotent, leaving Giles Jackson questioning his life choices.
  • Blew out Wisconsin in Camp Randall, where we hadn't won in over 20 years.
  • Finally beat a ranked team on the road at Happy Valley.
  • Dominated OSU in a way we haven't in over 25 years, securing a win over the #2 team in the country and eliminating their "most talented team ever" from the playoff.
  • Obliterated Iowa to win the B1G for the first time since 2004.
  • Sent Michigan's third ever defensive player (most in CFB) to New York for the Heisman ceremony, where he finished second (again beating an OSU player).
  • Two consensus first-team All-Americans and multiple second- and third- team All-Americans.
  • The Broyles Award for Gattis, and the AP COY for Harbaugh.
  • First-ever CFP appearance
  • The best close to a recruiting class in recent memory.

So, while it's fine to be disappointed in tonight's outcome, let's appreciate where we are versus where we thought we'd be. On offense, we have two QBs capable of winning big games, budding stars at RB, a strong stable of TEs and WRs (and hopefully Ronnie Bell at full strength).  On defense, the secondary went from tire fire to shutdown unit, we finally have DL depth, and lots of young talent throughout to develop.  Michigan will definitely go into next year ranked in the top 10, and likely in the top 5, at minimum the co-favorites with OSU to win the B1G.  The expectation for the regular season should be around 11-1, with a NY6 bowl (at least) likely.

2021 Michigan Football was the most successful team since 1997, and did so against every expectation.  Let's celebrate.
