Best Streaming Service for Out of State

Submitted by LewanHatesDonkeys on August 11th, 2022 at 5:26 PM

Since the season is upon us, and I live deep in SEC land. What is my best option to see every game streaming? I've done PSVue with BTN which was disappointing because I feel like every channel had the same B1G game on. Since then, the best option I could tell was sportsurge.net. But if I can legally give someone my money for a few months so I can watch Michigan, I would like to know. Thanks for any help!

I don't know if it's the best or cheapest option. But I live out of state and have YouTubeTV, and I can easily legally watch every Michigan football game. And any other Michigan sporting event that's on regular cable TV. So it's a good default option.

I second this. YTTV has many local channels too, I think depending on where you are. But you should be able to get Fox and ABC, and ESPN, FS1 and BTN are all standard so you won't miss a game. Sling you have to get orange and blue and sports plus - which costs near the same as YTTV, but you also miss you on local channels (games on ABC). And if you share your Hulu account then going Hulu Live kinda screws that up for people too.

I did a lot of research back when I decided to go YTTV, it's the best for me as an out of stater, still better than Cable too (but not by as much as it used to be)

Thanks, everyone. YTTV is far from perfect, but it's really not bad. One of the features I have found most useful is to check into games a little after they begin, pause them or watch straight through half times. It really helped when the family needed me evenings and I could go back and catch the end of games.

I just wish so badly that I could check into other Michigan sports, because I would really watch them. I hope that's going to be part of the goal in negotiating the new contracts, because why not develop audiences and following for things like soccer, womens' hoops, hockey, etc.?

I switched from DTV to YoutubeTV a year ago for my 4 TVs that I primarily watch.  The bill for 4 feeds went from $188 DTV to $65 YTTV and it has a lot of extra features such as unlimited DVR, Unlimited TV sets, logging in and watching all of my channels and recorded shows from anywhere in the US (not Canada, which I found out a couple of weeks ago).  I'd look into YTTV if I were you.

I've used YouTubeTV for a couple years now. It includes B1G Network and has unlimited DVR. It looks like you can try it for free, although I'm not sure about the length of the trial period. They're running a special where it's $55/month for the first 3 months and then $65/month thereafter. Cancel anytime.

I used YTTV last season and was happy with it.

In the past, I used SlingTV and they let you switch back and forth between Orange and Blue as often as you want so it was an inexpensive option.   This might still work if you have access to over the air for ABC/FOX.  I don't, which is why I switched to YTTV.

If you have an interest in also streaming Disney+ and ESPN+, there is a bundle with Hulu w/ live TV for $69.99 / month.

Hulu (Live) for several years. Nice bundles.

Never an issue finding and watching any games. Looked at YTTV and went with Hulu because the bride watched a few networks that were on Hulu and, at the time, not YTTV.

In SEC country too. YouTubeTV has given me every football and basketball game and I have the MLB.TV package so I never have to miss a Dodgers game.

I was sharing YTTV with my sister on the other side of the country and loved it. Then after a few months it started asking if I was traveling, and eventually it booted me. Anyone know a way around this?

I live in SW Florida and I've been using fubotv for a couple of years now.  It is a sports centric service with the additional channels that my wife watches. It has BTN with alternate channels and gets all the local channels.  I haven't missed a single Michigan game. It is also on a month by month basis with no contract.

I haven't used it for college football, because i haven't needed to, but its great for ppv's and misc. sporting events that aren't televised in your network.
