Ever since I’ve been working from home I’ve had the chance to listed to Hartsock & Brock Huard’s show on Sirius XM.  I know he’s a Buckeye, but it’s really hard not to like that dude.

My only complaint is the tangents they often go on that are not CFB related.  The other ESPNU shows do it as well, such as Childers-Neuheisel, but not as much.

My favorite ESPNU CFB show has to be Mark Packer.  I like his takes and I like how he will let his callers speak and rarely talks over them.  Very respectful.  He knows that his listeners are what drive his show.  Seems like a really good guy.

I like Packer also, but only get a chance to listen on my way home for 30-40 minutes.  I think he's been a bit too critical of Harbaugh vs, say, someone like Tom Herman (when he was still at Texas).  I mean, Jim has earned some of that, but I get the feeling that he's just not a fan of Michigan overall.  That's okay - he's been pretty fair this season and tends to give teams credit when due, and crap on them as earned.  He does give Dabo a free ride, though.  All the whining from Swinney the last few days has been given the green light.  I mean, the guy went to Clemson and knows him personally, so I guess...  I just don't like it!

a.) that guy is cool.  would have a beer with him 10/10.

b.) presented in a very respectful way, good on him.

c.)  we need to teach him how to say crisler.  it does NOT rhyme with 'sizzler'.

d.) every time i see that TD in the 3rd quarter with their safties eating a truckload of quiche and not challenging the lead blockers, it shows severe weakness.  if i was the DC for ohio (heaven forbid), i'd have yanked those dudes off the field right then and there.

go blue.  love our school.

Yeah exactly. I’ve listened to AJ Hawk on Pat McAfee’s show, Cris Carter on Rich Eisen’s show, and Ryan Shazier on Rich Eisen’s show after the game who were good sports about it. I think especially the guys who’ve played in the NFL like these guys and Hartsock, they’ve been in locker rooms with players from all sorts of schools so they’re used to the banter and friendly back & forth.

Great watch! I could nearly feel the cold, lol. You can appreciate the speed of the game in his film. It was funny with all the birds flying around the day before, it was a portend to all the birds you saw given on game day, lol.

He talked about this on his Sirius show a couple days after the game.  He is good friends with Jansen and after he shared his experience, I have a newfound respect for him.  Prior to that, I didn't really like him that much.  It was very un-Buckeye of him to appreciate the joy we Michigan fans had and I in turn really appreciated his transparency.  He gained a new fan.

Guy is a class act and appreciates the sport.  Most players from the rivalry are respectful of one another because they know how much work goes into making it to that level.

Day's comments were those of a guy that didn't quite get it, and I think Harbaugh nailed it....OSU has had too much success in the rivalry recently and coaches like Day were indeed born on 3rd base and behaving that way.

College football is better when this rivalry is meaningful and there is mutual respect between the teams.

Fans will always be fans, and obviously you can expect angry drunken behavior there...but players and coaches usually get it.

This is a good watch. Must have been amazing to have that up close view that day. He seems like a nice guy with a good football tradition take on the The Game. Thanks for sharing.

Fuck this guy. He always wore his heart on his sock. Thanks for the deodorant side story . . . you stinky turd.  This video is for the birds.  Could only make it 2.5 minutes.

Herbert Crisler became "Friz" because,

1. as we all know, his last name was pronounced Krise-ler AND

2. as a joke because Amos Alonzo Stagg nicknamed him after the world-famous violinist Fritz Kreisler.

P.S. Michigan's field hockey team's roster includes a Stagg.

That was fucking awesome.  It is the best you-are-there retrospective that I have seen of The Game, even if it was done by a (respectful) Buckeye.

Some random observations:

- The all-blue unis are BAD ASS.  They made us look like the angry kick-ass had-enough bullies we were.  We should always wear them when we play Ohio State.

- Who would think that yellow pom poms could be intimidating, but they were.  They were a relentless pulsating amoeba that followed Ohio State everywhere.

- The snow was pure fucking magic.  Like movie magic.

- You could tell from the very beginning that this was going to be a different day.  It was not going to be Ohio State business as usual.

- OMG, the birds.  Omen.

- Like 1969, the legend of this game is going to grow and grow.

I really enjoyed watching that. It was awesome, and done by a Buckeye no less.

I guess they're not ALL horrible people, just most of them.

Go Blue, beat the dogs!

I like Ben Hartsock.  He and Brock Huard do a good radio show on ESPNU channel 84.  This piece was one of the better personal experiences that I've seen.  It really captured the energy and spirit of that day.  Good job.

EDIT: my nitpick -- it's CRY-sler, not CRIS-ler.

Great footage, including a view where you can actually see what happened on that 4th down where the ball came out of Smith-Njiba’s hands and then somehow (but of course it did) bounced off Hawkins and immediately back to him.
