BE PREPARED: Penn State Game (10/15) Will Be Maize Out
https://mgoblue.com/sports/2017/6/16/fanzone-football-promotions.aspx
It's pretty easy to foresee this one happening at night and State being a 3:30, so it makes sense in my eyes.
Make sure to bully everyone who is going to dress accordingly! That method clearly was the one to finally do the trick last year.
The Maize-Out with the All Blue uniforms set the tone for the year last year. It was when things started to feel a little different
While there are plenty of great moments from that game, the one that will always stick out with me is Corum's 65 yard TD run. Just went through the line completely untouched and outran Washington's entire defense. He had at least a gear or two extra that no one on their defense had.
It was the first time since probably Denard that I looked at a Michigan player running the ball and thought to myself "Holy crap, that guy is FAST." Makes me think as well to his long run against OSU and that if he was anywhere near 100%, he would've been g-o-n-e, GONE, but still managed to get 55 yards before anyone could track him down. That's how good he is.
So glad we get to watch him for another year. He will find his way into the league before too long.
The fast guy and/or juke master is the coolest thing in football after a dominant defensive line player like Hutch or Mo Hurst Or Messner if I remember correctly.
Shout out to Ryan Brower, Monte Williams and Matt Copp from different teams I played on. After blocking my guy out of the play watching them run was one of the best football memories. (Other than tackles I made.)
Now they're going to be REALLY certain that they are our biggest rival.
They can fight it out with Rutgers.
or Illinois
.....or staee
I've been seeing that GIF for years and it still cracks me up every time. Such unselfconscious, unaware, demented enthusiasm is a wonder to behold.
I always worry she has a learning disability and I need to hold my laughter. It'd be a great service to me if your take could be confirmed and mine confirmed false.
I don’t know you, but I imagine you’re better than casual learning disability jokes.
Rutger. They haven't earned their 's'. Chiano is working on it though.
Michigan against everyone
Michigan uber alles!
Come prepared, the MDen is ready to make that happen....
The only thing MDen is making happen with that shirt design is abstinence-based birth control, unless maybe if you're a current undergrad
I'm old and irrelevant, but that's a perfectly good t-shirt. It has a helmet on the front and a schedule on the back. Most editions look like something from the Zubaz catalogue.
I don't dislike it, though I'm sterile so it probably affects me differently.
Was just released from gulag. Website loads slower now. New improvements must be on way. Embrace new 5-Year Plan, comrades!
I'll be sure to wear maize at home on my couch and only drink maize beer (PBR)
Mmm...kvass!
Yes the Lions will be prepared!
A shining new (B1G) era is tiptoeing nearer! And the (“evil”) Lions will feature!
Prepare... Minter is coming.
UTL1 we sat in the student section in the first experience with Pom-Poms at Michigan Stadium and in person messing with the sight lines while standing the entire game were not optimal.
However for overall effect and adding to the hype and adrenalin of the moment and how it looks on television these are a value add and very important to a maize out.
maize pompoms should always be available in that setting. amazing visuals in person and on tv, much cooler environment
This game screams 'Big Noon Kick' to me with the weekly schedule, unless there's already a deal in place.
Penn State made their White Out game versus Minnesota, not Ohio State, so they may know something, too.
World Series the night of OSU/PSU, Fox had rights to the game. So they had to do a noon kick, PSU didn't want to waste a whiteout on a noon game would be my guess.
Will have to agree here - a 'color' out for a nooner would be a big waste of effort...
Yup, just doesn't hit the same in broad daylight.
If it's a maize-out, can we get our maize pants back? The blue ones were fun as an alternate, but I'm not a huge fan of how they started to become our default for our biggest games (Ohio State, Iowa, Georgia all in a row).
I hope the Georgia game put an end to that trend.
Now, let's talk maize pants for away games!
they do look great
It's so hard to look away from Woodson on that play that it is easy to miss the receiver getting planted into the turf for good measure.
For away games I don’t mind a healthy rotation of blue and maize pants. The white & blue combo looks real smooth and the white & maize combo is always a classic. Just no all whites.
I really think the Washington game was so successful because of the nice weather. It's way more likely people have a maize t-shirt or long sleeve than a maize quarter zip / jacket.
2 night games in a month and a half? What are all the old people who can't stay up past 8pm going to do?
bitch on MGoBlog would be my guess
It's bittersweet: I'm a grad from '67 and still think I'm young! But these night games prove that not to be the case sometimes. The night games are certainly great fun, typically more than any game except beating OSU or MSU during the days. But the next day also becomes one of less fun. So, I hope that the game is an M blow-out and can leave a little early.
However, one of my favorite games of all time was the Notre Dame-Denard Robinson Under the Lights, unbelievable-finish night game... such drama in the last couple of minutes near midnight!!! (leaving early would have made me feel so foolish! thankfully, I have survived that late night for a number of years now!)
If the kids love the Maize Out, fine with me. Still, as an old fogey, I find it all a silly way of trying to make the fans feel like they're "part of the team." Not to mention ... if I'm paying that much for a ticket, I would like to retain the right to wear the clothes I want, thank you very much.
But yeah, I'm old, I know. :-)
It’s creating a visually unified environment designed to impress and especially intimidate.
The psychology of such events is interesting to observe.
It makes sense. And it makes cents. Lots and lots of them.
be prepared? lol
I need more time to prepare
I thought every game was a Maize out
