Bad News For Ohio St: Chase Young Suspended For Maryland Game, Possibly Longer
The news just came through. He was on pace to easily cruise past Ohio Sts sack record.
Ohio State junior defensive end Chase Young will miss the Maryland game on Saturday due to a suspension, Bucknuts has confirmed.
This news was first reported by Lettermen Row.
A spokesperson for Ohio State did not comment when contacted by Bucknuts Friday morning.

I was wondering aloud the same thing a few minutes ago with a buckeye coworker. How convenient that USC is being held hostage over Urban by these potential ADs, then this surfaces out of the blue.
November 8th, 2019 at 8:55 AM ^
Maybe he missed the ethics class taught by Urban Meyer- ot even more believable, he listened intently
November 8th, 2019 at 9:28 AM ^
He most certainly did not miss the class UM taught on ethics. He just skipped the one class that discussed the importance of leaving no paper trail.
November 8th, 2019 at 12:10 PM ^
Why would he go to any classes?
November 8th, 2019 at 8:55 AM ^
But did he ask the school technology guy if it was possible to erase text messages that were more than a year old?
November 8th, 2019 at 8:57 AM ^
So which 5 star DLineman replaces him in the starting line-up.
Faces change, coaches change, talent remains.
Sigh.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:03 AM ^
That was my immediate thought. Just plug in the next 5 star. Or plug in a 3 star who ends up being ten times more dominant than Young ever hoped to be.
OSU is like that undeserving dickhead who finally gets access to an obscene sized trust fund. And just when he's trying to figure out what he's going to buy first, the doorbell rings, he goes to answer it and finds the Publisher's Clearinghouse standing on his porch ready to give him the big check.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:06 AM ^
That would be Zach Harrison
November 8th, 2019 at 9:21 AM ^
Wonderful
November 8th, 2019 at 10:06 AM ^
No, Harrison is 3rd (now 2nd, is CV is gone) on their depth chart.
But hey, whoever it is is going to be at least decent, but absolutely will not be a Heisman finalist level player by the end of November, so...
It actually would affect the way Michigan calls plays, game plan, etc.
November 8th, 2019 at 10:10 AM ^
J Cooper is out due to injury meaning Z Harrison / Jean-Baptiste will get the start.
November 8th, 2019 at 10:42 AM ^
Whatever. Those guys will be decent, but not Heisman finalist level players at the end of November.
November 8th, 2019 at 8:58 AM ^
This won't stick, or at least it won't against PSU and UM. It'll be the rate by-week suspension.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:09 AM ^
This is a non-political site. However, why does OSU always seem to be treated like a Democrat and Michigan like Republicans in these type of matters? OSU can break every rule and nothing ever comes of it, Young being the most recent. Compare Fields and Patterson. Patterson gets lied to by coaches and has to go through legal hell to get out. Fields can't beat out Fromm, whines and gets an immediate transfer. Can you imagine the media attacks against Harbaugh if something like this was happening with the frequency it does at OSU. Finebaum would be so incensed that his ears would grow another 3 inches! Michigan = world coming to end scandal of all scandals. OSU, what's the big deal. Guarantee Young is on field next week.

“This is a non-political site, however I’ve chosen to make it political”
November 8th, 2019 at 9:20 AM ^
“...in the most moronic and disingenuous way possible.”
November 8th, 2019 at 9:16 AM ^
Interesting that you have that completely backwards.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:17 AM ^
Fuck you and your bullshit political hot takes, asshole.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:20 AM ^
Give me a break with your backwards ass comparisons.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:22 AM ^
Could you speak English?
November 8th, 2019 at 10:19 AM ^
"This is a non-political site. However, why does OSU always seem to be treated like a Democrat and Michigan like Republicans in these type of matters? OSU can break every rule and nothing ever comes of it, Young being the most recent."
This is a perfect illustration of why politics is verboten here.

It's always possible not to hit "reply". Engage that prefrontal cortex next time.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:46 PM ^
Similar analogy.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:10 AM ^
Supposedly this took place in 2018 and may take some time to look into. Depending on the amount he was given will determine how long he is out. Remember when Johnny Manziel missed a half against Rice after his famous hotel signing? It just depends on if the NCAA is completely briefed on the situation, but i can't imagine OSU covering anything up can you?
November 8th, 2019 at 9:12 AM ^
A scandal at OSU? Shocking.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:12 AM ^
One of the funniest things is seeing the OSU message board complain about “scum bag agents” and saying the agents should be the ones in trouble not Chase.
That is hilarious. No different than blaming Walmart for selling the gun, not the person who pulled the trigger. Or saying that the bartender should get the DUI for serving the drink, not the driver.
These players know they cannot take money and he chose to ignore that message. Additionally, if he got caught then he’s really dumb, because the biggest rule is to use cash and they you cannot get in trouble.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:13 AM ^
Oh, somehow he will magically be back for the UM game. Just wait to see.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:15 AM ^
He will be back. The Urban Meyer example is all we needed - that guy is still employed by the university and is even celebrated in Columbus. They'll reinstate him in no time and then the university can get back to footbaw and coloring books.
November 8th, 2019 at 1:11 PM ^
Your talking about a school who names their athletic facilities after a violent old geriatric fuck and still believes Tressel took the fall. Ethics and integrity have no place at OSU. Urban, I’m sure feels like he was reacted unfairly.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:15 AM ^
Goodbye, Heisman!
edit: damn, someone beat me to it.

Breaking (rumor) news
A couple of guys I know down here are saying Dobbins was also involved and to watch for that to come out later this morning.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:24 AM ^
That would have even bigger impact on the team. He's been great this year.
But RB #2 will step in, and the train will keep rolling.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:43 AM ^
They will keep rolling for sure but if Dobbins is out it is a completely different offense.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:55 AM ^
Don't let me down, here, mGrowOld. I trust you as a poster and believe your sources to be reliable.
November 8th, 2019 at 10:14 AM ^
They're just fucking with you. Good things like that don't happen to Michigan. Ever.
November 8th, 2019 at 11:48 AM ^
Oh yes they do. Don't you remember when JT Barrett got hurt and their backup had to come in against us? Twice??
November 8th, 2019 at 9:25 AM ^
We already know how this goes, his backup will rack up 29 sacks in the next two to three weeks and Chase will get reinstated for the Michigan game and they will sack Patterson 74 times.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:48 AM ^
Zach Harrison is ready to step up.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:25 AM ^
NIL FTW

This guy has it right:

"Chase Young is playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers. No one will criticize you for sitting out to stay healthy for the NFL if the NCAA makes you!"
November 8th, 2019 at 9:32 AM ^
He leads the nation in sacks, that's not surprising..... he's a professional playing among amateurs.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:33 AM ^
Carol Folt knew something before the rest of the country did, didn't she?
November 8th, 2019 at 9:51 AM ^
I live in L.A. and the Meyer situation is very complicated. USC absolutely cannot have any additional scandals right now. They are up to their elbows in all sorts of scandals and legal troubles right now and as important as football is, Meyer is not worth the risk. Plus, unlike most programs USC can get a great coach, has tons of money and has one of the best recruiting situations in the country. They are also a top 25 school with the best weather in the country. They don’t need all the trouble that Meyer brings. They should take a pass. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Jack Del Rio with the job.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:35 AM ^
Ohio State is overdue for a complete program implosion, but I'll take a star player suspension with my coffee on a Friday morning
November 8th, 2019 at 10:11 AM ^
Won’t happen. They skated by memorabilia for tats and housing a perverted nut with a bad temper. If you think a player getting enough cash to buy a piece of farm equipment would hurt them you obviously don’t know much about OSU football. This is just another days work
November 8th, 2019 at 9:35 AM ^
Bye bye any hopes for that Heisman
November 8th, 2019 at 9:36 AM ^
So it's from 2018 it's money, not steroids.
The payment issue will only become a nonissue when the rules change - when everyone can enjoy the same opportunity, as opposed to only the cheaters.
NCAA must have some smoking gun to announce this a year after it happened?
November 8th, 2019 at 10:16 AM ^
The NCAA hasn’t taken any action and were likely only made aware of the issue in the last 24 hours. OSU found the issue and had to take action or risk forfeiting any games he played in after they became aware.

Barron Browning, come on down
Zach Harrison, come on down
