With what money?
November 8th, 2019 at 12:48 PM ^
Well considering we don't even know the amount, it's hard to say. Say it was a few hundred dollars. He could have easily paid it back with his stipend.

Your blind credulity is impressive.

AC said 10%.
November 8th, 2019 at 2:16 PM ^
Oh yeah? Well AC ain't in charge no more.
November 8th, 2019 at 12:18 PM ^
Wow, that's convenient. They have receipts for that?
November 8th, 2019 at 12:48 PM ^
Online banking is cool, you should try it. I can tell you who I wrote a check to back in October 2009.
November 8th, 2019 at 10:04 PM ^
Would love to see a copy of the CHECK they used to pay this back!! Or hell, the note on the loan, which is how every loan works, to see the terms.
November 9th, 2019 at 11:22 AM ^
A note for a small loan from a family friend? Lol I’m sure there a security agreement and loan agreement as well.
November 8th, 2019 at 11:40 AM ^
THIS. Is how they do it..." A loan"
November 8th, 2019 at 11:43 AM ^
kinda curious as to how he paid the loan back..... a summer job working at Maxton auto group or for the DiGeronimo Corp?
November 8th, 2019 at 11:51 AM ^
If you read between the lines of the timing of when he met this "family" friend is it clearly a booster, but count me in the group that says he is 100% back for PSU.
November 8th, 2019 at 11:52 AM ^
Questions the NCAA should (but probably won't) ask:
1. How much was the loan?
2. How was the loan paid back? It seems like this would be difficult for someone without a job or income to do.
3. What "basic expenses" did he need a loan to pay for?
4. Was the loan a one-time thing? If so, how has he been able to pay for the "basic expenses" without a loan the rest of the time he's been at OSU?
5. Who reported the infraction and why didn't they report it when it happened instead of waiting until now to do so?
Luckily we know we can trust the NCAA to thoroughly investigate this matter in a transparent and competent way.

That’s all the osu slappies are talking about here in Dayton. These poor miserable bastards have nothing else positive in their life but college football.
November 8th, 2019 at 12:08 PM ^
97.1 in Columbus just read a message saying the "family friend" may be a registered agent with the NFLPA. They followed that up with saying the agent should then be in more trouble than Young. They seem to think he will be back by the end of the season.
November 8th, 2019 at 12:13 PM ^
OSU has their priorities. He'll miss the Baby Seal clubbing this weekend and be back "rehabilitated" for PSU/UM.
November 8th, 2019 at 12:24 PM ^
If Young broke the rules, he will be punished. Will the punishment fit the "crime", who knows.
Meanwhile, we can now enjoy college basketball again and root for those upstanding head coaches at Arizona and Kansas who further corrupted the sport (and proven by the FBI no less) and the NCAA stands idly by.
I just want to watch great college football and root for my team. At my current 62 years of age, I can honestly say its getting harder every year.

Young hits twitter with:
“I made a mistake last year by accepting a loan from a family friend I’ve known since the summer before my freshman year at OSU,” Young wrote. “I repaid it in full last summer and I’m working with the University and NCAA to get back on the field as soon as possible.”
Yikes - sounds like he could be headed to the NFL combine prep extra early. Taking loans from a "family friend" he met just before his frosh year ? That sounds like code for football agent to me. Mr. Young just lost his NCAA eligibility.
November 8th, 2019 at 1:47 PM ^
If he needed a loan, how the hell would he be able to repay it while he still attending and playing for OSU?
November 8th, 2019 at 1:49 PM ^
If he needed a loan, how the hell would he be able to repay it while he still attending and playing for OSU?... never mind - already asked.

Good news for the Maryland OT's and Anthony McFarland Jr. I might actually watch the first quarter of the game to see if there's any material impact toward on-field performance. If it looks like OSU sucks without CY, then maybe he is all that is hyped about him. If OSU is the same old buzzsaw, then maybe the Heisman hype is overblown. Beyond that ... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
PS - Until I see CY return a punt for a game-winning touchdown score, I'm skeptical.

From Fritziebuck over on ELEVEN WARRIORS:
"I'm sorry, you don't self report violations on your best player during a title run. Beyond stupid. If the NCAA become aware of an issue, and launches and investigation, you lawyer up and deny everything. Never volunteer one piece of information to support the investigation. Try to intentionally misled the investigation every step of the way. Ohio State likes to hit the self destruct button by self reporting. School administrators' need to be fired. Absolutely moronic."
Wow - that bucknut fan base is beyond dirt ball ... and that OSU program has major skeletons in those football closets. I bet Urban is gone because the President found some of this shit during his investigation into the Zach Smith situation. It wouldn't shock me to find out that Zach Smith was Urban Meyer's "bagman" coordinator.
November 8th, 2019 at 2:03 PM ^
It's obvious he was. That's exactly why he was still on staff.
November 8th, 2019 at 1:03 PM ^
This sounds like the whole Miles Bridges situation from a few years ago for MSU. He had to sit a couple of games...yadda.. yadda.. yadda............ncaa clears him........yadda.. yadda.. he is back playing again.
November 8th, 2019 at 1:46 PM ^
That's not this.
November 8th, 2019 at 2:22 PM ^
Probably a well cooked deal by Gene Smith ... waited to self report this until just before two cupcake games - Maryland and Rutgers - and then take the two game suspension which clears the violation. Young is then back in time for the PSU and UM games and "clean" for the playoff run.
November 8th, 2019 at 2:09 PM ^
Should forfeit all the games he played in too.
November 8th, 2019 at 2:44 PM ^
See? We aren't institutionally corrupt. We are dumb as bricks and narc on ourselves.
November 8th, 2019 at 2:50 PM ^
Like I was just saying... It’s not gonna matter. The Buckeyes are gonna crush Penn State and have a pretty easy game against Michigan.
Im prolly a little jealous. OSU is without a doubt the best team in the B1G and a serious contender for the national championship.
November 8th, 2019 at 6:00 PM ^
Jeebus Jon. ???
I’m sure you’re so young you don’t even remember the pre Tressel non-cheating years of t(tm)OSU.Maybe from grade school. You guys are so accepting of a culture of cheating that you probably don’t recognize it as an issue or just get lost in rationalizing.
Speaking of which, reporting before cupcake games is hardly narcing on yourself; it’s effectively covering up the same institutional corruption that’s been going on since the Tressel hire.
November 8th, 2019 at 2:46 PM ^
Does he come back? Doesn’t he come back? It’s not gonna matter.
And I hate to say this out loud.. Ohio State is prolly gonna thump us by 21 points regardless if that kid plays or not. They’re on a whole other level this year.
November 8th, 2019 at 3:05 PM ^
I just asked a family friend for $20 and he texted me back to go fuck myself. Although he is a buckeye fan.
November 8th, 2019 at 5:31 PM ^
WELL THAT EXPLAINS WHY YOU DIDN'T GET THE LOAN. LOL
November 8th, 2019 at 5:37 PM ^
Great news.

Columbus Disgrace is reporting the loan was for his parents to go to the Rose Bowl and that he has proof he paid it back. Damn it! They are going to get away with this! Fuck!
November 9th, 2019 at 7:35 AM ^
But his attorney released a statement saying it was for "basic living expenses" and added how wrong it is for players to scrape by while others get wealthy off them.....
Nice way to use the current climate to try minimizing the violation.
The fact that there's not a constant story being told makes it pretty easy to believe that it is more that an innocent small loan for understandable expenses.
