I laughed really hard due to the hilarity, and then I was disappointed in myself for laughing. I +1'd you nonetheless.
Damn you for complicating my thoughts this morning.

no, but the last home game of the season has always been.
January 23rd, 2011 at 10:41 AM ^
Your post wasn't really about this, but I completely agree with the title. While we were killing that 5 on 3 with a couple minutes left, that was the loudest I've ever heard Yost. It was absolutely amazing to be there, adding a great victory.

The student section is always the most vocal part of the crowd, but it was nice to look across and see everyone else getting into it as well. I think us students fed off that and started making more noise. It's a small intimate environment, so when you make noise, you're heard.
How about Sova pausing for a minute before finally getting into the box? Kid put a target on his back the rest of the game.
So our last loss was the olympic ice game against Minnesota and our last loss at home was against Notre Dame in November. That's pretty boss right there.

Unlike the Crisler atmosphere, which blew. I was watching to see what recruits they were bringing in and hoping they wouldn't keep them there long.....
January 23rd, 2011 at 10:44 AM ^
were there really recruits there?

Dude's hilarious.

Not at all related to your topic but just looked at our results and by the time our next game rolls around, it will have been over 2 months since we lost a game in regulation.
I'd say that's pretty good...

Senior night is the last home game of the season. Here is a link for you

that the last game is senior night. I need help. Please message board god...help me.
I will take your word for it though because you have 13,200 points. Or maybe I shouldn't take your word for it for the same reason.

Search engines have been an integral part of the Internet landscape since the mid-90s, transforming the way we look at the world, our information, and ourselves...except on MGoBoard.

well that I have been a hockey season ticket holder for the past 5 seasons. Well that and every sport has their senior day for their last HOME game. Sure it may not be their last game, but it is their last HOME game.

Senior night is the last regular season game of the season, IIRC. There are CCHA playoffs afterwards, but all the pomp and circumstance of "Senior Night" will probably be the Saturday game against Western in February.
January 23rd, 2011 at 11:25 AM ^
When do the playoffs start? How many yrs in row has UM made playoffs now?
January 23rd, 2011 at 11:30 AM ^
On the student tickets, the ticket for February 17th against Western has SENIOR NIGHT on it. So yes, this year it is the last game of the regular season
January 23rd, 2011 at 12:16 PM ^
WMU at yost is not the last regular season game. The team travels up to Northern for their last games of the season the following weekend.
January 23rd, 2011 at 12:28 PM ^
I meant last home* game, sorry. my mistake!
January 23rd, 2011 at 12:26 PM ^
You mean Feb 19th, not Feb 17th, right???

Senior night is Saturday 2/19 against Western Michigan.

To get back on topic: yes, Yost was insanely loud as we were killing that 5 on 3. Also, the Nanooks had pulled their goaltender. They had every opportunity to tie that game, but we simply would not even let them enter the zone! The speed and stickwork of Rust and Hagelin was quite impressive.

I'm not a huge fan of hockey, but I attended a game and the atmosphere is A-MAIZE-ING

Here's an interesting tidbit from UAF's coach last night:
“It’s been almost two years since we haven’t got a point on a weekend, but I don’t think that’s the big picture right now,” said Ferguson. “There’s a lot of good things, but at the end of the day, you’ve got to have execution and that’s what we’re all striving for, to execute in the situations that we need to, and that’s usually what makes the difference.”
TWO YEARS since they were held pointless? Yost strikes again!

He doesn't count the CCHA tournament. Last year, Alaska was swept by Northern Michigan in the second round. But if you only count the regular season, you have to go to the last series of 08-09, where they were swept by Alaska-Anchorage in a home-and-home, which incidentally was the only two times they were swept that year, the other coming at Notre Dame. Another interesting stat is that the last time Alaska failed to get a point at home against a team from outside Alaska on Friday came on October 24, 2008 against Bowling Green, in a 1-0 loss.
