Could be telling.
August 9th, 2011 at 10:41 PM ^
This doesn't seem "good" does it? Weird timing to be considered "good" IMEpinion.
August 9th, 2011 at 10:51 PM ^
Sorry to be a bit of a buzzkill, but I don't think this favors us one way or another. I heard a bit of chatter from PSU fans, and they seemed to think that if he didn't announce soon, it would mean bad news for them. This early announcement does seem odd considering how recently Michigan came back into play, but I wouldn't be too optimistic. I still think they (PSU) are favored, but then again, I'm no insider.
August 10th, 2011 at 12:50 AM ^
But don't these guys feel time pressure to sign onto Michigan, if they plan to? You may well be right about PSU, but we could understand a quick press conference for us if he wants to beat Yuri to the punch.

August 9th, 2011 at 10:43 PM ^
Based on nothing, I'm gonna say PSU looks pretty good. I'll still take some Yuri Wright, though.
Although I must say it's definitely weird timing that he waits to put us back in his top 3 then chooses..

August 9th, 2011 at 10:47 PM ^
I confirmed that with him.

August 9th, 2011 at 11:00 PM ^
..how is that cryptic? I'm pretty sure it just means that Reeves is announcing Friday at 10.
Also, Reeves just visited PSU last weekend with his mom IIRC.

August 9th, 2011 at 11:17 PM ^
Well the fact that it lacks crypticness, is in fact cryptic.
August 10th, 2011 at 8:59 AM ^
I was hoping Tom was confirming Yuri Wright's presser set for 9:59.
August 9th, 2011 at 10:48 PM ^
Zero chance this is good for Michigan.
August 9th, 2011 at 10:52 PM ^
Yeah, on 247 they had an article where a recruit (I forget who) said Armani was recruiting him to PSU...
August 9th, 2011 at 10:55 PM ^
mahone dont know his first name. i dont really want armani he is just like t-rich, size wise. ill take him if he commits but id much rather have yuri wright who is 6'2" and just started playing football and is already a top CB in the country. says a lot about potential
August 9th, 2011 at 11:04 PM ^
William Mahone.
August 9th, 2011 at 11:05 PM ^
Yeah, I think most of us would rather have Wright, but Georgia is looking good for him as well, and he's kind of the only one left on our board. I just want another elite corner, so if Reeves wants to come, I would gladly take him.
August 9th, 2011 at 10:52 PM ^
At least we'll know one way or the other and if he doesn't choose UM, they can focus more on the remaining targets.
August 9th, 2011 at 10:52 PM ^
August 9th, 2011 at 10:56 PM ^
Although both are good players, Id rather have Yuri Wright. Itd be nice to have a 6'2, 180 lb CB with speed. Just sayin.
August 9th, 2011 at 11:00 PM ^
I bet that he is blue on Friday.
Of course a Yuri Wright would be better.

Can you BKFinest it?
August 9th, 2011 at 11:02 PM ^
I'm holding out for Wright.. just so we can have some sweet Command & Conquer references

Mirage Tanks + Prism Tanks = unstoppable killing army of death
August 10th, 2011 at 9:17 AM ^
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks of this whenever I see Yuri Wright's name. Many many hours were spent on this game.
August 10th, 2011 at 10:47 AM ^
Funny, I see that title and I think-
August 9th, 2011 at 11:04 PM ^
Yep, this doesn't look good for UM, the timing just doesn't fit. I'd love to have Reeves but Yuri is truly the "elite CB" we need if the coaches really want another DB. The bottom line is somebody is getting left out in the cold if Dunn wants to come. This is getting interesting...

Good luck to him, wherever he goes, but I don't think we're in it for him.
August 9th, 2011 at 11:39 PM ^
you are correct sir. I can't see this as a good sign for us.
August 9th, 2011 at 11:08 PM ^
I think he is all PSU. We jumped back too late for him, probably. I think he would shock everyone if he picked us at this late date.
August 9th, 2011 at 11:08 PM ^
It would be nice if he commits but I don't see it happening, seems to be PSU/ND race.
August 9th, 2011 at 11:10 PM ^
Penn State recruits the east coast very, very well.
August 9th, 2011 at 11:14 PM ^
Can we chalk up this first time we got burned a little by asking people to commit early? Put the pressure on TRich/Standifer and then shut down DB recruiting. Now T-Rich is anything but firm and we're missing out on a guy we really liked.
Not saying I dislike the strategy at all. We knew it wasn't going to be all rainbows and butterflies. There were definitely going to be some casualties. Just wonder if people chalk this up to the "commit early" strategy or something different.
August 9th, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
Paterno claims another one
August 9th, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
this doesn't seem good for us...but wasn't he a guy who wanted to wait and take his visits? Maybe he just really wants to get that last cb spot before its gone. Good luck to him wherever he decides to go, he seems like a nice kid.
August 9th, 2011 at 11:26 PM ^
Just need some recruits to talk him to the Leaders and the Best... If we don't land him Yuri Wright is still a great recruit.
August 9th, 2011 at 11:28 PM ^
The timing might also suggest that he will go blue. Once we got back in it with him he comes to a decision pretty quick.
August 9th, 2011 at 11:35 PM ^
August 9th, 2011 at 11:29 PM ^
Im torn but since everyone seems to say the timing is a negative il spin it ... Could be Armani knows the UM class is filling up and knows the Yuri Wright interest is there and sees this is the time to get on the UM bus or he may miss it..maybe even miss it AGAIN
August 9th, 2011 at 11:44 PM ^
I kind of hope we miss on both of these CB's and take an extra DT.
August 10th, 2011 at 12:56 AM ^
with stonum redshirting and, therefore, available in 2012, the coaches might consider not taking a WR this year. Receiver is a position where players can come in and succeed as freshman. On the other hand, DT and Oline (and CB to a lesser degree) are positions that require a few years of development. id rather sure-up those spots now, and grab a few (hopefully college-ready) WR's in the next class. i can't really see the coaching staff turning down committments from any of garnett/diamond, wright/reeves, o'brien, dunn.
August 10th, 2011 at 6:32 AM ^
August 10th, 2011 at 12:54 AM ^
The amount of faith we have in this coaching staff to get whatever recruit they really want is hilarious. Most of us assume that if we don't get Reeves we'll just "settle" for Wright.
August 10th, 2011 at 1:28 AM ^
I don't think many people view it as settling for Wright but preferring and hoping for Wright. He is a bigger and higher ranked corner that we would all love to have. With his recent comments there is no reason to think we dont have a great shot at getting him.
August 10th, 2011 at 1:03 AM ^
i really wan wright so losing reeves wouldn't sting to bad...
as for the remaining 4 spots I think they go to.... garnett, dunn, payton, wright
obviously all speculation, i'd love o'brien, but i thnk chris rock and wormley can both grow into 3-techs, also with Ken WIlkins weight gain I have faith he can contribute there in the future as well
