Appreciation Thread: James Turner
There are so many that are deserving appreciation. But James Turner had to follow Jake Moody and face some big kicks in his first The Game experience. 12 points overall in a six point victory, including a 50 yarder and a big kick with a minute left to give some cushion. He was one among many great transfer pick ups!

Saline’s very own. Way to go, James.

Someone beat you to it, though to be fair it's on the second page now.

But yeah, he was fantastic this season, and his 3 kicks yesterday were absolutely crucial to victory.

My longer reply is in the earlier thread, but better twice appreciated than not at all. A big game when he was on the biggest stage. I'm happy he'll have memories to treasure for a lifetime. He's given me a few!

A thread for each kick. We need one more.

Turner is worthy of being appreciated twice!

Yes. ABSOLUTELY!!!
If they make the 52 yarder and he misses the 50 yarder . . .

Perhaps best of all, one of the players after the game said that Turner was the Jolly Good Fellow.

Probably the most anonymous regular player on the team. Even has an anonymous name. Jake Moody (deservedly so) received so much press, tv time, attention. Anonymous James? Almost none. I still wouldn't recognize the guy if he was in front of me in a Meijer checkout line.
He is now at 86% on FGs this year. BTW, Moody is at 85% for the 49ers this year. And Moody's career record at M was 82%.
Yet all year I have heard rumblings that he wasn't reliable and even heard that some of the going for it on 4th down was because you couldn't trust the FG kicker.
Loved it when JT ripped his 50 yarder after the Buckeyes missed theirs.
James Turner deserves some love! We wouldn't be going to Indy without him.

this was my biggest position of concern this off season. The staff as a whole has done great to fill needs with the portal. I’m glad Turner chose to come home and I hope he gets to help win a couple more with team 144.

Was never a concern. Tommy has a big leg if needed as well. And they have a Samaha waiting in wings. Another “top 5” type leg.

So damn huge. We talk about our biggest portal pickups this year, it might be him.

Kid was nails yesterday. Salute, James

Was so good I barely thought about him all season.

Appreciate that last kick to cover the spread!

I think you could make a good case for Turner being game MVP.

The Michigan punter needs some love too

Great execution across the board. A true team win where pretty much everyone played well

Clutch yesterday

Needs some You're the Man Now Dog points. 3/3 in the bitter cold and we needed all of them. Meanwhile his counterpart on OSU missed one

The 50 yarder was huge. I have to admit I didn’t think he had it in him.

A steady, reliable kicker is to football what a good free throw shooter is to basketball -- underappreciated, often unnoticed, but frequently the difference in an important game. He is definitely a jolly good fellow!

The last one was not cushion. It was to necessitate a TD for OSU.

Absolutely nailed those FG’s right down the middle. Incredible job yesterday.
November 26th, 2023 at 10:59 AM ^
Yeah no kidding. Been clutch. Made me almost forget Moody

For he's a jolly good fellow!

Nooooobody

Absolutely! Go Blue James!

Was a huge James Turner doubter after some early-season woes but he is now a legend in his own right. Big time players make big time plays in big time games and he delivered. Congrats to James and his family

He was the player of the game. Drilled each FG right down the middle too!
