Appreciation Thread: James Turner

There are so many that are deserving appreciation.  But James Turner had to follow Jake Moody and face some big kicks in his first The Game experience.  12 points overall in a six point victory, including a 50 yarder and a big kick with a minute left to give some cushion.   He was one among many great transfer pick ups!

Probably the most anonymous regular player on the team.  Even has an anonymous name.   Jake Moody (deservedly so) received so much press, tv time, attention.   Anonymous James?  Almost none.  I still wouldn't recognize the guy if he was in front of me in a Meijer checkout line.

He is now at 86% on FGs this year.  BTW, Moody is at 85% for the 49ers this year.   And Moody's career record at M was 82%.

Yet all year I have heard rumblings that he wasn't reliable and even heard that some of the going for it on 4th down was because you couldn't trust the FG kicker.

Loved it when JT ripped his 50 yarder after the Buckeyes missed theirs.

James Turner deserves some love!   We wouldn't be going to Indy without him.

this was my biggest position of concern this off season.   The staff as a whole has done great to fill needs with the portal.  I’m glad Turner chose to come home and I hope he gets to help win a couple more with team 144.

A steady, reliable kicker is to football what a good free throw shooter is to basketball -- underappreciated, often unnoticed, but frequently the difference in an important game.  He is definitely a jolly good fellow!

Was a huge James Turner doubter after some early-season woes but he is now a legend in his own right. Big time players make big time plays in big time games and he delivered. Congrats to James and his family
