I used to know a guy that went to OSU and was friends with Herbie. He said Herbie has very small hands and they used to have to scuff the balls to help him get a grip on the ball. I have no way of fact checking this story, but given what they say about guys with small hands, and the way Herbie acts, I have to believe it's true.
