A2.com Poll of Michigan Players - TP Big Ten's Most Overrated

Submitted by MGoShoe on

A2.com's Mike Rothstein just published this story with the results of an informal poll conducted with Michigan football players.  Topics covered include:

  • Most exciting player in the Big Ten this year (John Clay)
  • Most overrated player in the Big Ten this year (TP)
  • Hardest hitter on the Wolverines defense (Jonas Mouton)
  • College football team you rooted for before joining the Wolverines (Michigan)
  • Most embarrassing football memory (Various)

Best answer to the last question:

"When I was in sixth grade, I was playing a game and my pants were way too big, so I had them taped on. I ran for a long touchdown, and as soon as I crossed the goal line, my pants fell to my ankles." - Stephen Hopkins.

Apparently, there's going to be a part 2 to this.

Ricardo Miller, on Marvin Robinson: "When he comes to hit, everyone knows it. I think he's cracked his helmet twice this camp, and if that doesn't show you enough that he can, I don't know what could."

Can you say...fumble-forcing machine?

I have a feeling three drives into the season, Marvin Robinson's going to be my favorite Wolverine.

I love the bit about Marvin Robinson's hitting ability.  Cracking helmets is a plus in my book, if he cracks Pryor's helmet in November, the OMG SHIRTLESS bodes well for Josh Furman.

"Before camp, I called (quarterbacks coach) Rod Smith and asked him what I should bring. I asked him how many pair of underwear I should bring. He thought that was hilarious. I was serious." - Devin Gardner.

Probably my favorite one, although the Hopkins one is funny too. But I can't wait to see Marvin Robinson hit someone, that is going to be music to my ears.

I find toilet paper to be highly underrated...

/mentally challenged joke.

In all cerealness, Pryor will either prove or not prove his hype on the field. That is my mathematical conclusion. Where are the cheetos?

(This post has nothing to do with the scotch I'm drinking).

John Clay as the most exciting player?

Their offensive system alone should disqualify him.

He's definitely ultra-productive, but most exciting kinda sounds like sarcasm to me.

TP didn't exactly light it up against Michigan last year, so I can see why they'd say he's overrated.  9/17 for 67 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 19 rushes for 74 yards.  Sub-4 per carry, and worse yet, sub-4 per pass attempt, and if I remember correctly, a fair number of those incompletions were pretty awful throws that weren't even close.

Oregon probably has a different opinion of him.

need bulletin board material for this game, you shouldn't even be playing in it. Both schools have 100 years of hate passed from one generation....err class to another both states were at war no less, it's usually the most significant game (by historical accounts) in the conference.

There are players from Michigan on the Ohio State team and visa-versa  chomping at the bit to prove themselves right for choosing their respective schools.  Many of these kids have been born and bred to hate each others colors as football rivals.  Bulletin board is small peanuts here.  Maybe if it were Alabama, Tenn, or UConn I'd be concerned about bulletin board material.

"Probably being knocked out flat by Roy Roundtree and losing my air." - Craig Roh.

That's my favorite line.  I want to see that clip pretty badly.

I made the mistake of reading the comment section, thinking maybe there would be some funny takes on the embarassing moments...instead, it was just a bunch of tomhagan clones.

Yeah, that was a good decision on my part.
