5* 2022 RB Raleek Brown to Announce Commitment on Feb 5
February 1st, 2021 at 4:36 AM ^
Wow, he's small. He must be lightening in a bottle.
February 1st, 2021 at 5:07 AM ^
He is a 14 year old Sophomore
Another sites says he has two brothers that played football at Oklahoma ,so im guessing hes an Oklahoma "lean"
February 1st, 2021 at 6:53 AM ^
Wouldn't he be a junior if he is graduating in 22?
February 1st, 2021 at 10:25 AM ^
He’s 14 in the 10th grade and graduates next year? Where I come from most boys who are elite athletes are 14 in the seventh grade. I don’t think parents in Michigan have caught on to the redshirt or double redshirt idea like down south

LOL my sister held back both of her kids so they would have “an advantage.”

Let's see if this triggers some musical chairs. Another five star RB, Gavin Sawchuk, is also CB'ed to Oklahoma. If Brown takes his spot, that may give Michigan the opening it needs.

We don't need a RB this cycle. We should skip a year and use it instead on a 350 lb samoan DT project.
February 1st, 2021 at 8:23 AM ^
You need at least 1 RB every cycle. We have a senior maybe (Haskins) a soph, maybe (Corum) and 2 freshman. We need a little depth. You should never skip a cycle on any position. 1 injury and 1 transfer, and your depth is shot.
February 1st, 2021 at 11:49 AM ^
Especially in the age of immediate eligibility transfers.
February 1st, 2021 at 11:51 AM ^
Its the one position that an incoming freshman can thrive. We currently have four in Haskins, Corum, Edwards, Dunlap. We took two this cycle, we should skip one year and use it elsewhere. The depth scenario you mention, can be covered the next cycle. This isn't OL where they have to be seasoned.

Transfer portal can balance out misses.

Hart has already started building his relationship with Sawchuk. Guys at 247 think it's a relatively realistic shot. Seems like Brown going to Oklahoma could work out well for us.
February 1st, 2021 at 11:00 AM ^
I wonder if Gavin Sawchuk looks something like this.
In the interests of full disclosure, this horrific pic of Terry Sawchuk was actually the product of a makeup artist for a LIFE magazine article. While Sawchuk had plenty of scars, he never actually looked like this. Much to my disappointment.
February 1st, 2021 at 11:26 AM ^
Isn't that Terry Sawchuk, former Redwing goalie?
February 1st, 2021 at 11:52 AM ^
That pic of Sawchuk has always amazed me. Can’t imagine how goalies played without masks or cages.
February 1st, 2021 at 11:52 AM ^
He just prefers to the play the game without a helmet.

OP: This is somewhat interesting, but we could completely fill the board with posts like this for weeks. What's special about this one? Michigan has a hat on the table? That's not a very high bar. Toss in "100% crystal ball" and the post is even shakier.
To those who might say "Don't click on it" I'd say you don't get it. More interesting posts get crowded out when mostly useless ones are added.

Post police, duck.... Look at the last 5 posts. What's so interesting about those? Coach interview, wow. Izzo, on a Michigan board. Rob F appreciation, and guess where Dylan McCaffrey is going.
February 1st, 2021 at 8:29 AM ^
I think he's got a valid point. When you say a 5 star player is announcing a commitment everyone thinks it's likely he's a Michigan lean. Then when you click on the post and find that there's nearly a 0% chance it makes the post seem very irrelevant.
February 1st, 2021 at 8:37 AM ^
I think the underlying interest in this, which the OP should have included, is how this might affect Gavin Sawchuk's recruitment, our top RB target. Hart seems to have us in a good position for Sawchuk. He's CB'd to Oklahoma right now so Brown taking that spot might help us.
February 1st, 2021 at 8:42 AM ^
A post about recruiting is better than any post about Tom Izzo complaining.
February 1st, 2021 at 8:56 AM ^
Did you forget to switch accounts? You're talking out both sides right now...
February 1st, 2021 at 9:01 AM ^
Now the game is who is his burner account??? I just lost three hours of work on "research"....
February 1st, 2021 at 8:54 AM ^
I've seen other message boards post threads along the lines of "2022 Recruiting Update" or "Transfer Portal Update". Might be a good way to consolidate a lot of these interesting tidbits.
Would work better if the mgoboard would push messages to the top based on most recent response vs. when the thread was started but it still might work well here.
February 1st, 2021 at 8:57 AM ^
Yeah we should just have a sticky for all recruiting updates.
February 2nd, 2021 at 12:36 AM ^
I have to agree with this. My post is dumb and a waste of time for the board.
I didn't even know about the other RB. I just went on Twitter, started the MGoBoard post, and noticed the 247 crystal balls after I went to link the 247 page.
My apologies. I suck.
February 1st, 2021 at 8:35 AM ^
is it better to be a hat on the table with no chance, or not to be on the table at all?
February 1st, 2021 at 8:38 AM ^
Does it make a difference?
February 1st, 2021 at 8:59 AM ^
lol, nope
February 1st, 2021 at 8:50 AM ^
0% he comes to Michigan. Oklahoma lean.
February 1st, 2021 at 8:58 AM ^
Maybe the hat on the table, if it's in the camera's view, is good advertising for Michigan? What with being 'considered' by a 5-star, and all?
Marketing!!
Otherwise, no...
February 1st, 2021 at 10:52 AM ^
Michigan has plenty of RB's right now. Michigan needs DL and LB's more than anything other than the fact that you always need to have additional OL.
February 1st, 2021 at 11:54 AM ^
I agree... we got two this year... we got Corum last year... And Haskins still has a few years of eligibility... I say get a DT or OT. Never can have too many... we have enough interior guards.
February 1st, 2021 at 1:11 PM ^
This is OT for the post but on more topic for the board.
