30 UCLA football players don't trust Chip Kelly
They want a 3rd party to make sure covid 19 protocols are being followed.
Breaking: UCLA football players are demanding that a “third-party health official” be on hand for all football activities to see that protocols for COVID-19 are followed, saying they don't trust coach Chip Kelly’s program to act in their best interest
The fall of Chip Kelly from Oregon to where he is now has been absolutely fascinating. I don’t think UCLA is particularly poised to improve from their record last year
I thought from the very beginning that Kelly was crazy to leave Oregon for the NFL.
Harbaugh may not have succeeded in the way that UM fans assumed he would have by now, but it can always be much worse.
Why? I thought it made lots of sense; Kelly was notorious for being horrible at gladhanding boosters and both hated and was terrible at recruiting (on the personal level). Recall Kelly's issues with essentially hiring outside "recruiting services" to do his recruiting for him -- that got him an 18 month show cause! Feel like the NFL is the place I would go if I wanted to be a "pure" football coach; I mean, how much time and effort does it take to deal with donors and administrators and recruiting when you just want to be at the whiteboard?
Bottom line is Kelly is an asshole and continues to be so. The world has caught up with him
Brian or Chip? You need to be more specific about Kelly assholes.
Why not both.gif!
Harbaugh may not have succeeded in the way that UM fans assumed he would have by now, but it can always be much worse.
Correction: it WAS much worse.
See: Rodriguez, Rich; Hoke, Brady.
Huh, I guess being untrustworthy and caring about winning more than your players is a trait that runs in Kelly's.
Crazy how far he's fallen from being considered of the best and most innovative offensive minded coaches in CFB to being mediocre at best.
He's quickly approaching Rich Rodriguez territory
Was thinking the same thing. You can get away with that for a while, but eventually being a selfish jerk that only cares about winning catches up to you.
This doesn't seem fair, Chip Kelly and UCLA football have been WAY ahead of the curve in terms of social distancing.
They have only been filling 20% of their stadium's seating capacity for years now.

That's a win.
CFB coach/player power dynamics are changing so fast right now.
Players always had the power. Just now they're willing to wield it.
As a group, but you fall in line if you want playing time.
This is a losing formula. The line between falling in line and getting the players who can play when the bright lights are on is a fine one. The good coaches walk this line well-and not to the detriment of the players who can play the game the best.
This where Harbaugh has been ahead of the curve. He's been vocal about poor legal representation for lower income people, Colin Kaepernick, transferring without having to sit a year, name and image rights, Black Lives Matter. This doesn't mean he isn't a strange dude or that he will ever beat Ohio State. It does mean he's a man of character who was taking a stand before it became fashionable.
Student athletes do have rights.
Kelly is going to get fired, either now or this fall. Player/coach relationships are changing, but this says Kelly has absolutely no trust from his players.
Yes, this seems like something that will be very hard to come back from. Other schools will kill him on the recruiting trail with this.
Only 30! He has a lot more room still.
Does that mean over do trust him? That's a way higher percentage than I would expect
Man if only there existed a way for individuals to collectively bargain and have an organization whose sole purpose would be the best interests of the athletes. We could call it a union of athletes
