3-9 next year change my mind
Since this board is so full of intelligent people who don't react on their feelings but instead use the power of intellect to determine the most accurate future outcome. This program is dead. See you all in the distant future once we've reincarnated, so that we can experience yet another version of hell together.

Meh. I’ll be taking a break from this blog. Don’t know how long though.
January 1st, 2020 at 5:37 PM ^
Why? Everyone who comments here is so level headed and rational. Do you really want to miss all that?
January 1st, 2020 at 5:38 PM ^
I know. But being off this blog improves my mental health.
January 1st, 2020 at 5:53 PM ^
Too true, too true
January 1st, 2020 at 5:55 PM ^
Just be careful of your venereal health, you know, with those spartie girls...
January 1st, 2020 at 7:11 PM ^
Says the guy who claims Michigan could go 0-12 every season and he’d still be proud of the team.
January 1st, 2020 at 6:05 PM ^
You've been very consistent in your pessimism this year (I've shared it). I applaud your steadfastness. I feel nothing.
January 1st, 2020 at 5:37 PM ^
No way. This team still has some talent I see 8-4.
January 1st, 2020 at 5:47 PM ^
Nah, 9-4 is the new normal.
January 1st, 2020 at 6:12 PM ^
9-3, 9-4 has always been the normal. We have made it back to where we always were.
January 1st, 2020 at 7:36 PM ^
This is correct. The only difference is under Harbaugh we're substituting some random WTF conference loss every year for an OSU loss every year.
January 1st, 2020 at 6:01 PM ^
With the player losses they're going to have I would expect 8 or 9 wins. Hopefully they can develop some defensive tackles next year.
January 1st, 2020 at 5:37 PM ^
All depends on if we find a QB who can make a keeper read and go through a route progression. Also would be nice if said QB didn't play like schizophrenia
January 1st, 2020 at 5:52 PM ^
I watched this game with an absence of emotion, purposely, as I fully (like many others) expected this result. But am I crazy to think that if Patterson could actually identify a receiver breaking open downfield and then actually throw an accurate downfield pass that we could have possibly won this, or at least been very close?
January 1st, 2020 at 5:55 PM ^
If shea hits open receivers on long routes we pants Alabama and beat everyone else save osu.
January 1st, 2020 at 6:13 PM ^
Shhhh don't be rational now. Remember we want Harbaugh and everyone ever associated with him fired...
January 1st, 2020 at 6:46 PM ^
Except Partridge.
January 1st, 2020 at 7:14 PM ^
I’m not mad at Shea. He is what he is and he won us some games that everyone else on the team couldn’t have done. However, it’s Harbaugh's fault that our qb play has been what it is - decidedly not great. Nobody would have guessed that qb would be what’s holding us back in year five of Harbaugh and it’s a bummer.
If DMC isn’t great, I think Harbaugh walks after next season.
January 1st, 2020 at 8:37 PM ^
I don’t actually see how this is rational. The reality is Shea didn’t hit those passes. The long plays to receivers didn’t actually happen. As a fan base, we have to hold the record for the most “if only” statements. It’s not rational to say “if only,” when we consistently don’t actually do those things...

To me it's not about getting elite QBs, it's about making them. Shea was a 5 star, and we all expected him to play much better than he did. Meanwhile every single QB that OSU rolls out puts up video game numbers. We need a better system, not better recruits.
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:21 AM ^
It's a combination. Of course OSUs QBs benefit from the same system under Meyer and now Day, but is it the "system" when Shea Patterson fumbles snaps? Or fumbles when he's sacked? Or throws bad int's? Or overthrows open recievers by 10 yards? I think Gattis has the offense going in the right direction, he's getting mismatches using guys like Giles Jackson who's just getting started here. I expect the offense to be much better next year because A) Patterson is finally gone B) Another off-season in Gattis's system and I'm saying that even if Collins and DPJ leave. Call me crazy, but knowing how much Michigan sucks on the road and looking at our Big10 schedule we could be playing OSU at the Shoe to goto Indy next year easily. Sure we'll probably lose but I don't see a 7-5 type year at all.
January 2nd, 2020 at 8:23 AM ^
Better QB play will be the key. We'll see and better run game and excellent wide receivers returning. The OL is a question mark as well as QB. Our offense was too inconsistent this past season. Rarely made those game breaking plays. It sure wasn't their against 'Bama when we needed it.

No excuse for anything less than 10-2, and even that is a poor result.
January 1st, 2020 at 5:56 PM ^
Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Miinesota all in a row? Ouch!
Is it just me, or has PJ Fleck done more with Minnesota in three years than Jim Harbaugh has with Michigan in five?
January 1st, 2020 at 6:03 PM ^
it is just you - Fleck beat PSU at home (Harbaugh has always done that) and lost to Wisconsin at home - Harbaugh hasn't done that
B1G West is a different animal
January 1st, 2020 at 6:36 PM ^
Fleck beat a Top 12 team on the road/neutral field. Harbaugh hasn't done that. Fleck won 11 games. Harbaugh hasn't done that. Fleck is at Minnesota. Harbaugh is at Michigan. One of them has significant natural advantages.

Thank you for pantsing the previous poster.

Your math looks correct :(
January 1st, 2020 at 5:40 PM ^
Maybe we need try to "row the boat". Quick success in Minny we expected from a Bo disciple.
We can't keep this up. This is just old and smells like a money grab.
January 1st, 2020 at 5:42 PM ^
You're comparing Minnesota's schedule to ours?
January 1st, 2020 at 5:47 PM ^
Wisconsin
PSU
SEC power
yeah thats kinda comparable. L to OSU and 50/50 to ND and we are very comparable.
January 1st, 2020 at 5:40 PM ^
I am usually all in on being negative about this program but there’s zero chance this happens
January 1st, 2020 at 5:41 PM ^
You know harbaugh would never do that. He always wins just enough to keep his job. Granted some trolls would still defend him and want him as the head coach

January 1st, 2020 at 5:44 PM ^
3-9 is less painful than 9-3 filled with promise and hope with losses in big games. BPONE means always being on the cusp l.
January 1st, 2020 at 5:45 PM ^
But I thought we were winning this game today by a large margin?! Now it's 3-9 a year later with likely better QB play than Patterson?
January 1st, 2020 at 5:49 PM ^
Are you suggesting that you take predictions seriously that are made by random anonymous message board posters?
January 1st, 2020 at 9:06 PM ^
I think people missed your true intent, EYB. But I’m vibing with you.
January 1st, 2020 at 5:47 PM ^
10-3. That's what Michigan is and has been. Same as under Carr, minus the title, with one more game played per year. Carr's 8 win seasons are Harbaughs 9 and Carr's 9 win seasons are his 10. Recruit top 5-15, get most all kids a degree, put some in the NFL...wash, rinse, repeat.
January 1st, 2020 at 5:49 PM ^
I see what you did there, EYB. Unfortunately, the rest of the board is all out of self-awareness today
January 1st, 2020 at 5:50 PM ^
I followed reddit for this game, and it was a more enjoyable experience than the one I’ve had on mgoblog this season.
I don’t think our fan base has a higher proportion of trolls, but this site has unfortunately become a proto-RCMB on game days.
January 1st, 2020 at 6:01 PM ^
I think your just about right. MSU loses most of their defense and has an offense returning without creativity or a QB.
January 1st, 2020 at 6:03 PM ^
Dude, 3-9? Lay off the pipe
January 1st, 2020 at 6:07 PM ^
How many passes did Shea throw down field 30+ yards? He had open receivers, just kept overthrowing them. 2020 success will depend on finding a replacement that will hit those throws. I hope Joe Milton is that guy.
January 1st, 2020 at 6:07 PM ^
OP: before I try to talk you out of anything, would you care to tell me which nine teams U of M is going to lose to?
I mean, there's Ohio State, Penn State, and Wisconsin. (Not sayin' those are locks but I can understand pessimism.) Washington and Minnesota on the road could be tricky, and MSU could always manufacture some disrespect. But who's the other three?
January 1st, 2020 at 6:09 PM ^
If there's one thing I admire about you, EYB, it's your unbridled optimism. Nevertheless, we've been there as recently as 2007. We have even won a NC, and been undefeated, as recently as 1997. But can you point to a single Michigan team that went 0-12? Think of the publicity the program would receive! We would be a daily feature on every sports network in the country, and probably several around the world. We might even see the end of the "sell-out crowd" streak at Michigan Stadium. The Michigan Faithful would speak of the 2020 team in hushed tones for generations to come.
January 1st, 2020 at 6:17 PM ^
Definitely not that bad, but I see 8-4 or 9-3. Lose to one of PSU/Wisconsin, lose to Minnesota, lose to OSU, maybe lose to Washington, get thumped in another bowl game against a middling SEC opponent, and the wheels on the bus go round and round.
