3-9 next year change my mind

Submitted by evenyoubrutus on January 1st, 2020 at 5:34 PM

Since this board is so full of intelligent people who don't react on their feelings but instead use the power of intellect to determine the most accurate future outcome. This program is dead. See you all in the distant future once we've reincarnated, so that we can experience yet another version of hell together.

I watched this game with an absence of emotion, purposely, as I fully (like many others) expected this result. But am I crazy to think that if Patterson could actually identify a receiver breaking open downfield and then actually throw an accurate downfield pass that we could have possibly won this, or at least been very close?

I’m not mad at Shea. He is what he is and he won us some games that everyone else on the team couldn’t have done. However, it’s Harbaugh's fault that our qb play has been what it is - decidedly not great. Nobody would have guessed that qb would be what’s holding us back in year five of Harbaugh and it’s a bummer.

If DMC isn’t great, I think Harbaugh walks after next season.

I don’t actually see how this is rational. The reality is Shea didn’t hit those passes. The long plays to receivers didn’t actually happen. As a fan base, we have to hold the record for the most “if only” statements. It’s not rational to say “if only,” when we consistently don’t actually do those things...

It's a combination. Of course OSUs QBs benefit from the same system under Meyer and now Day, but is it the "system" when Shea Patterson fumbles snaps? Or fumbles when he's sacked? Or throws bad int's? Or overthrows open recievers by 10 yards? I think Gattis has the offense going in the right direction, he's getting mismatches using guys like Giles Jackson who's just getting started here. I expect the offense to be much better next year because A) Patterson is finally gone B) Another off-season in Gattis's system and I'm saying that even if Collins and DPJ leave. Call me crazy, but knowing how much Michigan sucks on the road and looking at our Big10 schedule we could be playing OSU at the Shoe to goto Indy next year easily. Sure we'll probably lose but I don't see a 7-5 type year at all.

Maybe we need try to "row the boat". Quick success in Minny we expected from a Bo disciple.

We can't keep this up.  This is just old and smells like a money grab.

You know harbaugh would never do that. He always wins just enough to keep his job. Granted some trolls would still defend him and want him as the head coach

If we get a new coach, then maybe, but even then, I doubt it. I think 8-9 wins is the ceiling yet again.

10-3. That's what Michigan is and has been. Same as under Carr, minus the title, with one more game played per year. Carr's 8 win seasons are Harbaughs 9 and Carr's 9 win seasons are his 10. Recruit top 5-15, get most all kids a degree, put some in the NFL...wash, rinse, repeat.

I followed reddit for this game, and it was a more enjoyable experience than the one I’ve had on mgoblog this season.

I don’t think our fan base has a higher proportion of trolls, but this site has unfortunately become a proto-RCMB on game days.

How many passes did Shea throw down field 30+ yards? He had open receivers, just kept overthrowing them. 2020 success will depend on finding a replacement that will hit those throws. I hope Joe Milton is that guy.

OP: before I try to talk you out of anything, would you care to tell me which nine teams U of M is going to lose to?

I mean, there's Ohio State, Penn State, and Wisconsin.  (Not sayin' those are locks but I can understand pessimism.)  Washington and Minnesota on the road could be tricky, and MSU could always manufacture some disrespect.  But who's the other three?

If there's one thing I admire about you, EYB, it's your unbridled optimism. Nevertheless, we've been there as recently as 2007. We have even won a NC, and been undefeated, as recently as 1997. But can you point to a single Michigan team that went 0-12? Think of the publicity the program would receive! We would be a daily feature on every sports network in the country, and probably several around the world. We might even see the end of the "sell-out crowd" streak at Michigan Stadium. The Michigan Faithful would speak of the 2020 team in hushed tones for generations to come.

Definitely not that bad, but I see 8-4 or 9-3. Lose to one of PSU/Wisconsin, lose to Minnesota, lose to OSU, maybe lose to Washington, get thumped in another bowl game against a middling SEC opponent, and the wheels on the bus go round and round.
