2016 Spring Game likely April 9th
Not confirmed, but I'd say it's pretty likely. The Big House 5K has been announced for Sunday, April 10th.
Last year the 5K was originally scheduled for the day after the spring game, but the game was moved back a week to accomodate BTN's TV schedule. Had it stayed April 11th, both Michigan and OSU would be playing on the same day.
The year before however, the Big House 5K run was held the day after the spring stretchy punt exhibition.
This is likely the date of the spring game. OSU has already announced that theirs will be on the 16th.
84 days away.

It's also my brother's birthday.
EDIT: Mike Hart isn't my brother.

Cold and rainy once again.
Why they don't push this back super late to give more time to practice AND get better weather is beyond me. But what do I know?
January 15th, 2016 at 12:42 PM ^
For Michigan students start on April 20th, so they probably want to give them as much time as possible to study.
January 15th, 2016 at 12:55 PM ^
The spring game has been played as late as May 20th. That was back in 1950 in a 50-0 Blue win.
The game had been in May its entire history until 1965 when it moved permanently(?) to April. Blue won that game over White, 34-0.

Cool, but wasn't Michigan on the quarter system back then, meaning students were still in school in June? As late as the 1970s, the fall semester didn't even start until damn near the end of September. Here in the 21st century, students are taking finals in April. Apples and oranges.
And, really, spring game scores?

Your odd hate for spring games is really something. Every year it is brought up, be it attendance or the format, you seem really irritated.
I wasn't comparing anything, BTW. I was simply stating a factoid in that post.
And yes, spring game scores. An ongoing compilation of them that I've had on the site for almost a year now.

Not hate. Merely objectively pointing out that this is a practice that gets overhyped like crazy.
I've been to a bunch of them, and that's all they are: practices. Attendance stats don't matter. Scores don't matter. It's practice.

I remember him and Thadmattasagoblin on here going back and forth for what seemed like every year.
Thad is on one extreme end of the spectrum in terms of the spring game and Bando is on the other.
Surprised thad isn't in this thread right now. Dude watches the spring games of other teams.

Honestly, I do the same thing.

I started at M in 1967 and we were already in the trimester system. My senior year the first day of classes was in August (1970).
I remember we always got the best summer jobs because classes ended so early.

You must mean two spring games ago. This past spring game was like 40 degrees, overcast and windy.

Walking around and out of the stadium was cold, but the sun being on everyone on the West side is what made it warmer. Not a cloud in the sky, though.
Virtual Punter is going to make his glorious return.

We have an indoor facility - other than comfort of fans during spring game it doesn't matter.
Earlier the better as well - longer time to come back from any injuries sustained. Longer time to evaluate spring performance and build plans for fall. Also this year will give a better window to work with what could be several 5th year decisions.

I think we'll get what he had last year at the minimum.

I think Harbaugh can do that. I would love to see the spring game become a big-time event like at some other schools.

in the name of "safety." Sorry, I've been ruled out of order.
I used to enjoy going but I've only been to one in the past 10 years.

I want to go back to Woodstock, Snoopy said. Times were easy then. The crowds swirled among the hoisted amps like footballs swirling the drain in tragic hallucinations of forgotten touchdown celebrations. Play the music at the game, and remember all the good times, then. Football lives on, and it will never surrender.
Woodstock, Woodstock, take me home. To the metaphorical allusion, and the congratulatory wheat fields of syntactically-grandiloquent aromatherapy. Smells are words, and letters are nothing. Take this train to nowhere, and never look back.
The blues on the horizon have been shaded into ecstatic 18th-century toys. Martin Wilson called, and he wants his alibi back. Nothing I've said was a lie, from the very beginning.
I wish you all a fantastic weekend, and a wonderful permanency. Please, have a nice day. May the forlorn conflagration of yesteryear never again devoir the frames of your yearning wooden houses. Goodbye!

If the team will spend the week of spring break practicing in Florida, I don't see how the Spring Game (practice #15) could be as late as April 9th. U of M Spring Break starts on Saturday, February 27th, and all the spring practices have to be held within a 34-day timespan (which doesn't count school vacation days but they'd be practicing on those days unlike previous years).

Now there's a phrase to be careful enunciating.

died on April 9th (not recently. 17 years ago when I was 21). I hate that day. I feel badly sometimes because its my cousins birthday, and Im sure some years it puts a damper on his day as well. Oh well, cool story bro.
Sleep apnea is a killer folks, not something to be taken lightly. If you ignore it, you might just up and die one day
/end of public service announcement

Sorry for your loss man.
At the relentless urging of my son, I went for a sleep study last year. Was so bad the doctor said she was surprised I hadn't had a fatal heart attack in my sleep.
January 15th, 2016 at 2:31 PM ^
I guess they didnt really realize how damaging Apnea could be. But thats how my Dad went. He left for work one day and never came home. I got a call at work from my sister (who was hysterical) and the first thought in m head (as it was the beginning of April) was "this is a really bad April Fools joke."
He used to stop breathing in his sleep many (in the 20s or more) times a night. He was quite the snorer, so when he went quiet, it'd freak my Mom out and wake her up, and she'd poke him in the ribs and he would start breathing again. One day, his heart exploded like a balloon. He was a week shy of his 53rd birthday.
I hope I've scared you enough to follow up on your own issues.
