2012-2013 PG Depth
Hate to be that guy, but what is our PG depth going to be like assuming Burke stays, and what is it going to be like assuming he doesn't?
Some questions I'm looking for someone to answer:
Is there anyone currently on the team right now besides Eso and Trey who can run point?
Can Stauskus run point?
Are there any solid available PG recruits who haven't signed yet in the 2012 class out there? I've found one on scout, Nino Jackson. Any reason this kid hasn't signed? Grade issues?
At all.

Skills are there, not sure he has the decision making abilities to play the point at a major university. Not positive, but I believe he has to sit a year.
He will most likely have to sit out a year unless he can get some kind of waiver.
Alright this is really getting out of hand. Can you people read? His dad makes a few comments in the free press, and people freak out. Burke did not give even the slightest hint that he is leaning towards the NBA. In fact, all objective signs would point in the opposite direction.
I thought he and Tim both said they were coming back immediately after they lost to Ohio?
Actually, Trey notably hedged his answer. See all the reports. And then today Trey's father said "If I had to guess, I'd say he wants to go to the NBA." Add these two facts together and you might reasonably conclude that Trey is seriously considering leaving.
Yes, we all can read. But none of us can read the Free Press.
I can read, but that's why it's called plan B. I want to know what our plan B is.
this kid is plan B, well maybe plan A after all the transfers today.

I saw... I was talking poing guards.
He is a point guard.
He's a shooting guard.
He is probably being recruited as a point guard. How about we consider him a combo guard then.
Some do consider Amadeo a PG. I think he is a PG
I pray to God he's a point guard. Please please please be a point guard, and committ to Michigan.
If Burke leaves and Amadeo commits he will be closest thing to a PG on the roster, so for our purposes he is a PG. Hopefully we get the kid and Trey sticks around for another year
The freakout is reasonable. This is basically exactly what D-Mo said in the aftermath of last season. The "considering" ends up meaning "strongly considering" more often than not it seems. Maybe it won't be the case, but this news is a lot worse than radio silence.
Normally I would agree with you completely, but we just went through this with Darius Morris. Most people here thought he would not leave and most signs pointed to him staying. But he ended up going pro anyway.
If Burke stays:
If Burke departs:

was funny!!!
I was actually thinking this. Man this is brutal.
Stauskas can run point.
The freakout is not reasonable. Darius Morris was actually an NBA prospect.
Stauskas cannot run point. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this team is very thin at PG even assuming Burke does come back. I look forward to the day when we finally see a Michigan squad with a roster full of legitimate scholarship players. But that's not gonna happen for another few years.
Brundidge left. Why? Until someone convinces me otherwise, I'll assume it's due to lack of PT. He was a highly rated kid out of HS, so I don't buy any arguments that he can't play B1G bball. And I don't buy that he was too lazy to go through the work-outs. (My reason here is that Belein had seen him for three years. I suspect laziness would have been something Belein noticed.)
The only other conclusion I can come to is the lack of PT argument. Remember, he came in knowing that he was fighting for PT after Morris left; PT was important to him. Remember, Burke is in his class; it wasn't likely he'd be able to start over the 2nd-Team All-Freshman PG.
This implies something very important: he thought Burke was going to stay. If he had ANY hunch that Burke might go to the draft, he'd have at least waited until April 10th to make his decision.
(I could be missing something here. But if I'm not, then I have no worries about Burke leaving.)
Ray Lee is from Romulus and committed to Eastern Michigan last month. If Burke leaves and Amadeo doesn't come here maybe he will be an option.

Dennis Norfleet. Boo yah
would go pro, and Carlton would leave also? Right would he stay knowing Trey would leave and open up all kinds of playing time for him?
Burke stays and JB uses the talk of him looking at the NBA to bring in a solid pg recruit. Who would not want to go to Michigan? Play for a year backing up Burke and then the playing time is wide open.
There has got to be someone that can come in and play right away or at least play after winter break next year...

I don't believe transfers would qualify for the spring semester next year being that they have to be enrolled full-time for one full academic year before they can join the team.
FWIW...I ran a search on scout.com of all uncommitted 3* (and better) PGs for the 2012 Class. Here is what I got. It's not good, not too many left. Also not good, because I don't know why they're uncommitted, it could be grades, trouble with the law, etc.

Why dont we just increase our number of former NBA players sons? He has got to be better than most of the other random unranked 3* players on this list, plus a UConn offer is never a bad sign...
