The entire offensive line. Michigan had over 700 yards of offense including nearly 400 rushing. That was the Block Ms at some of their finest. Statistically better than the Rose Bowl in which I'm pretty sure Wheatley is still running.

If I recall this game correctly, I don't think the Rebels even managed 100 yards of net rushing, nor did they even get half of the - what was it - 715 yards of total offense from Michigan? I seem to remember some almost Tecmo numbers from some players. I also remember Desmond Howard having some crazy yards per reception numbers, something on the order of 25 yards or so.

My first bowl game. Had a great time, the Jacksonville area was a great host. Ole Miss fans were humble and friendly, cocky pre-game, and gracious after getting a 1st rate ass kicking

Seriously. Watching the O Line was amazing. Routinely getting 3-4 yards on the surge before anybody even laid a finger on our running backs. At one point in the first drive the announcer mentioned one of our guys outweighed his block assignment by 110lbs. Part of me wonders how much the proliferation of cable TV helped create parity in college football. Even 25 years ago not every team had every game on television. To what extent was it easier for the big programs to grab all the best recruits just by saying "every or most games will be on TV"? Now even your basic MAC schools can say that.

golf in Arizona during this game.

This matchup was almost as lopsided as the Tennessee/Michigan game a few years later.  Michigan was a top 5 team.  They spent the week before the MSU game as #1, then "the trip".  Michigan lost 3 games by 6 total points.  Including back-to-back 1 point losses to Michigan State and Iowa

Ole Miss came in 9-2 with no wins against a team with more than 5 wins, lost to 9-2-2 Auburn and 9-3 Tennessee.  Didn't have to play Florida

Michigan just manhandled them.

Here is the quote from the Ole Miss coach that still makes me smile to this day

"They are the best football team we've ever played at Ole Miss, ever," Mississippi Coach Billy Brewer said. "They kept us spread out, and we didn't expect them to throw as much as they did."

Desmond Howard, Derrick Alexander, and Jon Vaughn would still be the fastest players on the team if they were playing on this team today.  This was a very special offense with depth and variety at running back, an excellent qb in Grbac, fast recievers that would go after the ball and could rack up the yards after the catch, and an NFL pedigree offensive line.

It's probably a toss up between this game, the 28-0 OSU game with Biakabutuka, and the '97 Penn State game when you are talking about games from the last 25 years or so where Michigan just gave a total @$$ kicking to someone that was supposed to be competitive with them.

I think Michigan only put up 35 points because they realized Mississippi couldn't get the ball pass midfield.  So they just ran the clock out in the 2nd half.  Mo still had a lot of Bo in him.

BTW, cool story bro, I got to talk to Derrick Alexander for a bit before the 1992 Rose Bowl when he was out injured.  He was a pretty nice guy, or at least he was nice to me for the short period of time I talked with him before the game.  He talked about how he was happy for Desmond winning the Heisman, but he was also frustrated, because he felt like he was supposed to be on the field putting up big numbers too if not for his injury.  He did come back and score 11 TDs in 1992.

1993 was so satisfying.  Buckeye fans all over the stadium were sooo vocal and cocky heading into that game because they were such heavy favorites and they hadn't won The Game in 5 years.  Seeing all the OSU faithful slinking out of Michigan Stadium early with their tails between their legs was the best.

Got my backs/years mixed up.  Michigan did run the ball like crazy that day (almost 300 yards at 5.0 a carry) and Biakabutuka got a few carries, but it was Wheatley and Ed Davis that carried the load.  The Biakabutuka goes nuts game was indeed the next home OSU game.

Was in JAX visiting my sister as a UM sophomore and didn't go to the game because I couldn't afford it. Missed a good one but remember vividly watching it on tv and destroying Old Miss. Bought a game t-shirt near the stadium that I wore for about 12 years.

That team was 3 plays away from winning the NC, one each in the ND, MSU, and Iowa games . . . Elvis pick in the end zone, unmentionable against MSU, and a play that sticks in my mind against Iowa (but I don't remember the specifics right this minute).

It's not a team we talk about much, but it deserves to be mentioned up there with the '85, '88, '92' '97, and '99 teams.

In the Iowa game, Moeller went for 2 when they were up 20-10 and didn't get it, and then they ended up losing by the extra-point he didn't take 24-23.   I think he was figuring if he got the 2 point conversion then he would be up 12 and a FG would put them up 15, but he really outthought himself on that one.
