10/4/15 College Football Rankings Thread (AP #18, Coaches #21)
After last weeks demolition of BYU, there was a thread for every individual ranking that was published. I thought it may be cleaner for the MGoBoard if they could be consolidated into a single thread, especially since threads such as the Coaches Poll ranking typically only generate one thought (omg these rankings suck).
Here are the rankings available for Michigan:
ESPN FPI: #20 (#17 power rankings)
Sagarin: #7
Massey: #20 (#21 power rankings)
Massey Composite: #14 (will likely change as more rankings become available)
AP Poll: #18
Coaches Poll: #21
There are countless polls available, so if there is one you'd like to point out just leave a note and I'll add it.
May work. May not. Worth a shot.

Their game against Colorado was close until the 4th quarter. Not impressive at all

S&P+ has Michigan at #3, behind Alabama and Oklahoma: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ncaa
The rankings that tell me the things I want to hear are the rankings I like the most.

Defense moves up 1 spot from 4 to 3, offense dropped 5 spots from 48 to 53. Overall moved up 7 spots to 3. Sounds about right!!

...that it ranks 3-2 Minnesota above 5-0 OSU.

I do like the Power Rankings. It seems to be the one that makes the most sense.

My post above, not the thread.\
I edited my post, which previously spoke and linked to our S&P rating. There was a post prior to mine that already informed the mgonation.

The playoffs presence makes the style-point effect less contentious in my opinion.
There is a rough equivalence to being ranked 1, 2, 3, or 4 that wasn't there before. So winning unconvincingly resulting in a loss of ranking isn't unreasonable, as long as continued winning keeps a team in the top four.
