#1 TE Jeremy Ruckert announcing today

Submitted by Heywood_Jablome on

Down to basically UM and osu.  Consensus is osu, but we will see. Would be a huge pickup if we could reel him in. Think he's announcing around 3pm.

I'm not getting my hopes up. Seems like he's going with the Buckeyes. Somehow he can't see that Michigan is TE-U. Bunting, Wheatley or both will rack up tons of yards this year compared to OSU's starting TE.

You know, it looks as if this place might have a small facility for doing some decent brickoven pizza, so at least there's that, and if nothing else, the beach can still be trimmed back with a simple lawn edger. Someone still might pick this property up actually. The only problem might be that you have to like campground cafeteria decor, judging from the overall shape of the place.

that doesn't really ring true for me is that IU TEs last year combined for 10 receptions, 93 yards, and 2 TDs.

Marcus Baugh (rising Sr, I think) at osu did have 24 catches, 269 yards, and 2 TDs. Still a far cry from Jake Butt, though, who had 1200 yards his last 2 seasons combined.

I don't know ...if Urbz puts him in an Aaron Hernandez type role, he might kill it!  (thank you)

Then again, the last big time osu TE, Jeff Heuerman has yet to play a meaningful down in in the NFL after a LOT of draft hype as an "athletic TE" from Meyer's system.

He has had an injury bug, but it's been a few years now and taking Butt made it CLEAR how the Broncos feel.  Most "Broncos insiders" have already written off Heuerman, especially with the McCoy offense, versus the double-TE sets with Kubiak.

Can't wait to see Jake playing on Sundays at Mile Hi!!

Seems like it would be easier for the kid to be on the morning show if he was going to school in Ann Arbor, but maybe they plan to have him appear remotely. Video conferencing has really opened up lots of possibilities.

Of course I'm assuming Meyer really has arranged this, which may be a mistake. Why would Sam want the kid on his show if he goes to OSU? I guess you have to pat the kid on the back for factoring in somthing other than football, but he should get Meyer to put it in writing.

Michigan is pretty good, but when you're talking about elite it's really only a handful of places. And if you're talking biomed stuff then places like rockefeller, stonybrook, sloan kettering, md anderson, etc are way ahead of umich.

Actually, you are wrong. Keep in mind we are talking about research universities, not undergrad. Clearly MIT and Harvard are far better than UM as undergrad institutions, but the difference in terms of research is not much.

According to NatureIndex (associated with Nature journal), Michigan is in the top 10 of research universities in the US. UM is #6, ahead of Yale, Columbia, and Northwestern, while OSU is #31.

According to U.S. News & World Report 2016 rankings of the top research universities in the world, U of M is ranked No. 17, with a global ranking of 83.4.  OSU is ranked No. 43, with a global ranking of 75.9.  That makes us 7 1/2 point favorites.  Sounds about right to me.

Michigan is ranked just ahead of University of Pennsylvania, Duke University, and the Imperial College of London.  OSU is ranked BEHIND Minnesota, Maryland, and UC-Davis.

If they are elite, we are definitely "eliter."
