What great games.  Fun night of hoops!

Louisville found Madison Square Garden has less friendly rims than the home court.

And Penn State played an absolutely terrific game!  Taught everyone how to take down Maryland - do not let Cowan beat you!  Make someone else hit a shot.

The BIG is deep this year.

Penn State only occasionally remembers it has men's or women's basketball, but it's gotten better over the last 4-5 years. Chambers has been on the hot seat more than once but his recruiting has gotten better--as in, he's made some inroads that were once no-chance--and wins like last night help it. Bryce Jordan Center was packed, and that's not easy to do (it's an all-around event center) and if you watched you saw them rush the court. And yes, this was right after being obliterated by OSU on the road; I was wondering what the turn-out would look like.

ya, underwood pissed that game away.  2nd to last possession up 3 he set up a horrible play call. isolated georgi. he got doubled and there was nobody to kick it to.  he threw up a prayer.  then MD comes down and hits a ridiculous 3 to tie it with 15 secs.  IL brings the ball up and underwood doesn't call TO to set up a play.  instead he has his 3rd option dribble, drive, get stripped, foul the guy on the turnover.  MD guy hits one FT. game over..

imo, setting up good plays after a TO separate good/great coaches from mediocre guys.  underwood proved he is mediocre.  JB was awesome at setting up plays.  izzo is good too (puke).

Didn't see it, so don't know how to judge the Georgi iso play call and how the defense reacted. Sometimes you draw up a play and something weird happens or the defense adjusts their coverage or the players just make a mistake. But the rest of that final 15 seconds.... yeesh.

I have noted that Juwan has been very successful so far out of timeouts. Each game he seems to draw up a basket out of a timeout.

Louisville looked like a totally different team. It's too bad Michigan got them at such an unfavorable time and place.

Maryland definitely didn't look like a top 5 team either. I know Penn State is pretty tough but Maryland seemed to have no offensive identity whatsoever.

Michigan better watch out - a road game at the Illini is pretty tough. And then Oregon comes to town on Saturday.  Those would be two more great wins for this team.

I wasn't all that impressed with L'ville against M.  Despite the obvious fatigue showed by Michigan, L'ville could never really pull away and turn that home game into the 20-some point blowout it should've been.  I mean, M didn't hit anything!  Couldn't shoot, was sluggish the whole game, and seemed somewhat disinterested.

Had Michigan been nicely rested and better prepared for that game, it's still possible L'ville would've won.  But I kinda doubt it...

Well idk about the bottom- Nebraskerball NW and Minn are flat out abysmal. IU wisc and Ill could squeeze out an upset or 2 depending on the schedule setting up for an upset/letdown but won’t get 8 wins in the league. Total

Beilein didn't leave because he was fed up with college basketball.  The media beat that angle into the ground.

He left because he simply wanted to give the NBA a shot.  He'd climbed the ladder and it was the last remaining level of basketball to coach.  He would have gone to the Pistons the year before, if they'd offered.
