TomVH: Chris Gallon, Dr. Phillips Update
If you're keeping track, Michigan is recruiting RB Demetrius Hart, S Roderick Ryles, and S Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix from Dr. Phillips for the 2011 class. As I said yesterday, Roderick Ryles was just offered by Michigan and will be visiting for the Wisconsin game. They're also very much in the conversation with 2012 QB Nick Patti. You can add another teammate to the list with 2011 WR Chris Gallon (6'5", 205 lbs.):
Michigan is starting to come after me hard. They're looking at my senior film right now, and they said after that they might offer. Coach Smith has been in constant contact with me. He said they like me a lot, I just have to wait until they see my film.
Chris sent the Michigan coaches his junior film, and the first three games from this season. Gallon said they are recruiting him as a wide receiver, and if they offer, Michigan has a good shot with him.
I was supposed to go up to Alabama this weekend with Dee (Hart) and HaHa (Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix), but I'm taking my SAT so I didn't go. I'm going to be going to Michigan for the Wisconsin game though. We're all going up there together.
Gallon, Ryles, Patti, and as of right now Demetrius and Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix are all planning on being at the Michigan game, when they take on Wisconsin.

just call us Dr. Phillips North Campus
October 1st, 2010 at 5:33 PM ^
Pahokee North. Wait, Cass Tech Southwestern? Trotwood-Madison-Ann Arbor?
ALL YOUR PIPELINE ARE BELONG TO US

Or you know, instead of comparing us to a high school, maybe they should be called University of Michigan Prep - Dr. Phillips Campus.

Universityof Michigan - Dr. Phillips! Go Blue!
October 1st, 2010 at 5:32 PM ^
This either means two things. Either we're in desperation mode for Dee, and we feel the only way to get him is by offering all of his buddies... or we know that the cat is in the bag, and we love Dr. Phillips and its players for it. I tend to think its the latter, and that Dr. Phillips is a loaded program with lots of great student athletes.
October 1st, 2010 at 5:35 PM ^
we're in a position to use a scholarship on an un-worthy player to land a RB. If he has an offer, they obviously think he can contribute down the line. I'd love to line up split Gallons. We could call that alignment the half-gallon.

Is there any precedent for so many kids from one school in the same class signing with the same college? If this actually happened, it would be very interesting indeed!
Miami (YTM) took 8or 9 kids from Miami Northwestern a few years ago, including int. machine Jacory Harris.
October 1st, 2010 at 6:07 PM ^
Florida took seven from Lakeland in 2007. S Ahmad Black and the Pouncey twins were the most successful. Chris "time to die" Rainey could have been successful, too, if he knew what is and isn't appropriate to text to one's estranged gf.

The incoming freshman class for the fall of 1978 had four teammates from the same Wisconsin high school (Grafton H.S.).
- Rich Strenger (OT)
- Mike Lemirande (DE/OLB)
- Dave Brewster (FB)
- Tom Garrity (C)
They were a part of several Big Ten Championship Teams and were also a part of Bo's first Rose Bowl win ('80 season, '81 Rose Bowl win over Washington).

RR's first recruiting class in 2008 saw three guys from Trotwood Madison come to AA.
TE - Brandon Moore (LC recruit)
WR - Roy Roundtree (Purdue de-commit)
RB - Michael Shaw (Penn St de-commit)
It's a good thing that RR turned Roundtree and Shaw on signing day.

Nick Patti = Colt McCoy Jr.
October 1st, 2010 at 6:10 PM ^
And by Jr., you mean 6 inches shorter.
October 1st, 2010 at 6:17 PM ^
Colt McCoy is short IIRC.
October 1st, 2010 at 6:34 PM ^
Wikipedia lists him at 6'3", which is what I remember him being in college. Either way, Patti is around 5'9" from what I hear, so I'd say Colt is at least 4 inches taller.
October 2nd, 2010 at 12:23 AM ^
If the math was done correctly here, that would make Patti 5'11" , Wolvin. If Patti is only 5'9", that would make McCoy at least 6 inches taller.
October 2nd, 2010 at 1:03 AM ^
I think WolvinLA was accounting for the fact that Colt McCoy's height was probably exaggerated at 6'3".
October 2nd, 2010 at 2:32 PM ^
Thank you Magnus. If you see my original post, I said 6 inches, and I was basing it off of how they were listed. Then my "at least" commented implied that even Colt's height was exaggerated, it likely wasn't more than 2 inches off.
October 1st, 2010 at 6:24 PM ^
Michigan is keeping an eye on the LB Darryl Monroe too. They even have a pretty good kicker.

Tom, since when are you are JA buddies?
RT @TomVH: @jadande Fluff just made near $1 million off Jim Furyk's FedEx Cup win. Give me a mill and I'll hold an umbrella for anybody

Shows how much I know, but I was hoping Dr. Phillips was a recruit. You know, like Mister Simpson or Lawyer Milloy.

Boss Bailey?
October 1st, 2010 at 9:26 PM ^
One of my favorite Michigan RBs ever, simply for his name... chanting his name in 06 with the entire crowd was great.
October 1st, 2010 at 7:57 PM ^
I'm waiting for the first ever "Hello: Dr. Phillips" post and then just a copy and paste of their roster from the school's website.
October 1st, 2010 at 8:16 PM ^
The 6'5" and 205 combined with the lower caliber of offers makes me think that the staff might be projecting him as a tight end as they seem to have struck out with everyone but Tabb.
The low GPA and trouble with the SAT's are troubling considering the academic troubles of the previous class.
October 1st, 2010 at 10:35 PM ^
Where is all of this about SAT trouble coming from? Tom said he's skipping a visit to Alabama to take the SAT. Later, Tom it was his first stab at the SAT. You can't have trouble until you've taken it.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:07 AM ^
Fair point and proves the old saying about assumptions. It was just interesting to me that he was taking the SAT fairly late in the game, which combined with the lower GPA made me think he was having trouble with the test. I don't know the facts and should have qualified that.
October 1st, 2010 at 8:26 PM ^
even qualify for admission? According to Rivals his GPA is 2.4. Not exactly Michigan material if Dorsey couldn't get in.
October 1st, 2010 at 8:43 PM ^
Dorsey's denial had more to do with shady correspondence coursework that dramatically boosted his GPA (AFAIK, he's still not enrolled at Louisville).
As long as his 2.4 is legit, I'm pretty sure Gallon will get in; I think we brought on kids with similar grades even under Carr.
October 1st, 2010 at 9:28 PM ^
I understand Michigan is different than most schools, but it's not like if you (aka a regular joe) have a 2.4 in High School you're forced to either get a job or go to a community college.
I'm sure Directional Michigan would accept a regular joe with a 2.4 and a decent SAT score.
October 1st, 2010 at 8:56 PM ^
tom, you kinda suck dude. you never actually give us any real solid info. just always, "Oh, he'll commit soon." I mean, come on. It's really really creepy what you do too. Shouldn't it be a NCAA violation of what you do?? You contact players and try to sway them. Don't tell me that you actually get paid to creep kids out. In fact, I really think that you do much more harm for our program than you do to help it. I wouldn't be too terribly surprised if some guys actually were really turned off by what you do you creep.
Thanks, and have a great day.
October 1st, 2010 at 9:03 PM ^
and obviously have no idea what Tom does. Kindly go fuck yourself.

there's no relation to young Jeremy, aka #10???
(for the record, this was posted after Promote Rich Rod responded to whatever was posted. I'm pretty sure he wasn't saying this in response to me. Which, on the other hand, would be pretty cool considering it appears that he posted a response over a half-hour before the initial post. Flux capacitor?)

Chris and Jeremy are cousins.
WR Chris Gallon: Starting to get some interest with four TD's catches this year (cousin of current Wolverine Jeremy Gallon)

gallon with 40lbs of barwis muscle put on his frame= tight end. Jack Tabb is a possibility, but why not put this kid on a workout program. Redshirt him, get familiar with the offense. Oh and thats right lock up the dr. phillips teammates to help build on future big 10 title teams, Knowledge psyched me up with his diary!
October 2nd, 2010 at 11:40 AM ^
True, but assuming he can run, having a 6' 5" guy on the edge isn't too shabby either.
October 2nd, 2010 at 2:36 PM ^
I like that idea. If he's 205 right now, with that frame he could be 220, 225 by the time he even sees Barwis for the first time. He can redshirt during Kogers senior year and come out of the gates at 240+ ready to go the following year.
I like it.

You strike at it again and again.

I know we'll all know in 3 days, but since I really can't wait...does anyone have any info on how Dee's visit to Bama went? I can't imagine that every recruit in the nation doesn't want to be on the same team as D-Rob. Also, for those recruits that have been sitting on the sidelines waiting to see how Michigan's season goes, how many more games do they wait? is 6-0 enough?
