TomVH: LB Royce Jenkins-Stone **DB Terry Richardson Offered
Coach Wilcher called Cass Tech LB Royce Jenkins-Stone and told him he has a Michigan offer. "I'll go up there (to Michigan) for a visit. I've been up there so many times, but I'm going to get as many offers as I can. I'll probably make my decision either the middle of the season or at the end," Royce said.
His teammate DB Terry Richardson was just offered by Michigan as well.

Hopefully he will do Michigan a solid.
February 9th, 2011 at 4:23 PM ^
Good news. Do you know if Terry Richardson got an offer as well or do you not know yet?

5:00 EST.
February 9th, 2011 at 4:36 PM ^
Must've missed the time earlier, thanks. Figured they were just in the meeting together.
February 9th, 2011 at 4:35 PM ^
I guess Richardson is having a meeting with the coaches, then going to the Basketball game tonight. It wouldn't surprise me if he received his offer tonight, especially after Jenkins-Stone getting his today.
February 9th, 2011 at 4:24 PM ^
Let's dominate Instate recruiting like the University of Texas dominates Texas.
February 9th, 2011 at 4:41 PM ^
so much for Dantonio owning the state of Michigan. Am looking forward with glee, to Hoke's 2012 class that takes these top 4 players in the state, among others.
in no order..
LB James Ross
DE Matt O'Brien
WR Aaron Burbridge
CB Terry Richardson
February 9th, 2011 at 4:44 PM ^
Danny O'Brien + Matt Godin = Matt O'Brien.
HYBRID.
February 9th, 2011 at 4:46 PM ^
Especially confounding that the hybrid would be a DE since we're recruiting both as DT's IIRC.
February 9th, 2011 at 7:42 PM ^
I was thinking a little more like Manny GO'Brien
February 9th, 2011 at 8:47 PM ^
I don't understand this kind of logic, which seems to have proliferated after the Hoke hiring. Sending out offers to kids in MI does not mean that we own the state of MI. The kids have to, you know, accept the offers before we can declare victory over Dantonio.
February 9th, 2011 at 4:29 PM ^
not the beginning of the season then.
February 9th, 2011 at 4:33 PM ^
sounds like he's Blue, just wants to enjoy the limelight.GO BLUE!!!
February 9th, 2011 at 4:36 PM ^
Wheres the offensive recruits!!!
s/ but not really.
February 9th, 2011 at 4:37 PM ^
Good day for him.
Gets big time offer from Michigan and also named in the Rivals 250
February 9th, 2011 at 4:41 PM ^
This is great news. I'm really happy for the kid.
February 9th, 2011 at 4:44 PM ^
That has got to be a really exciting moment for him. Hope he chooses UM.
February 9th, 2011 at 4:47 PM ^
I hope so too. He will be a really solid player and recruit for this next class. Get him, Richardson, Godin, Wormley, Diamond, O'Brien, just to name a few and we will be in great shape.
February 9th, 2011 at 4:44 PM ^
Good news. Happy for the kid. He really wanted that offer from Michigan.
February 9th, 2011 at 4:52 PM ^
for the 2012 offer updates
February 9th, 2011 at 5:00 PM ^
here's hoping for a solid 2012 class....
February 9th, 2011 at 5:06 PM ^
After reading some of Jenkins-Stone's quotes in interviews and on Twitter, I wouldn't be entirely pissed if he decided to go somewhere else.
For a guy who appears to only be a 3* talent, he sure felt entitled to a very early offer.
February 9th, 2011 at 5:17 PM ^
Isn't he in the Rivals250? I thought that meant he'd probably be a solid 4*..
Either way, I agree that he seems to be a little cocky. As long as he shuts up and plays good football, I'd be happy to have him here.
EDIT: never mind, I don't know what i was thinking. there won't be that many 4*.. sorry about that!
February 9th, 2011 at 5:19 PM ^
I think Richardson will probably be a 4*, but Jenkins-Stone will probably be a 3*/4* borderline guy. My guess of him ultimately being a 3* is based on his offers thus far.
February 9th, 2011 at 6:31 PM ^
I think it's WAYYYYY too early to judge players by their offers so far. They can't even receive official offers for another 6 months, and NSD just passed us by a week ago.
I do think Jenkins-Stone is a borderline 3-star/4-star player, like you said, but that's not because of his offers.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:13 PM ^
I thought they could receive them in September of their Junior year?
February 9th, 2011 at 8:24 PM ^
That's the first time at which they can receive verbal offers. They can't get written ones until later this year.
Stupid, I know.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:52 PM ^
The new rule (which just took effect for this recruiting class) says that recruits can't receive offers until August 1 of their senior year. So all these "offers" are just verbals, at least for another six months.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:06 PM ^
There seems to be a lot of hype for him on this site. His only offers are M & MSU and he's nowhere to be found on the 250. By your assertion on RJS, Burbridge must be a high two/low 3 star then?
February 9th, 2011 at 7:18 PM ^
What have been some of his comments? Can you elaborate?
February 9th, 2011 at 10:23 PM ^
Which of his tweets make you say this? Out of curiosity, were you one of the people who soured on Arnett after his Twitter ordeal?
I think part of RJS's frustrations prior to this day may have been motivated by the fact that he really wants to go to Michigan. I don't really see a problem with that. He seems to be very excited about his Michigan offer, so we'll see.
February 9th, 2011 at 10:35 PM ^
It's nothing too outrageous, but he went out of his way in an interview to say, "Terry Richardson is not going to Michigan", and he was saying things on Twitter like, "I'm definitely going down south for college. These Michigan schools are playing around and not offering me. I don't even like Michigan anymore." All of this was just because he was angry about not being offered quick enough. I'm sure there is already some negative recruiting going on from other schools as well.
If his head is already that big as a high school junior, though, I can't imagine what it will be like a year from now.
February 9th, 2011 at 5:15 PM ^
Great news for UM and Stone. Are we expecting Stone and Richardson to be a package deal or not really?
February 9th, 2011 at 5:21 PM ^
I think Hoke and company need to do something similar to what Georgia did with the instate recruits this last year. They declared them the "dream team" and said that they would be the ones to get UGA out of mediocrity.
Say what you want about the SEC and recruiting, but I thought this was a pretty cool thing to do. Makes the instate kids feel important and sought after. It also helped them land Crowell, Drew, etc.
The Michigan "Dream Team":
Terry Richardson
James Ross
Royce Jenkins-Stone
Danny O'Brien
Matt Godin
Aaron Burbridge
February 9th, 2011 at 5:34 PM ^
I agree Cali on your idea of the Dream Team, however I would make it the Michigan/Ohio states and would add to the following "UM Dream Team" from our neighbors in Ohio:
Chris Wormley
Ifeadi Odenigbo
Pharoh Brown
Tom Strobel
Bam Bradley
Allen Gant
William Mahome
Sam Grant
Greg Kuhar
Mason Monheim
February 9th, 2011 at 5:48 PM ^
I don't love the idea of declaring these guys the guys who will "get us out of mediocrity." I think that you can tell them, they will be the "top recruiting class in the country" or the "top recruiting class in M history that will make up a dream team," but saying that they will deliver us from mediocrity is sort of a negative shot at the players currently on the team, who hope to bring us out of mediocrity before these kids arrive.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:05 PM ^
I dont see how the current players would disagree that at best they have been mediocre. They certainly would not call themselves good, as a team. I dont see how this would be a shot at the current team members anyway.
They have all played with heart, toughness, and a desire to win. They will continue to do that. This would be little more than a recruiting tactic. It might have the opposite effect even, and light a fire under the current players and make them work harder and play harder. Who knows. It all conjecture anyway and its not going to happen.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:13 PM ^
off of a 7-5 team. 8 games at home including most of the toughies. 9 wins is medicore? As to making them work harder, can they? From everything I've read or head these guys bust their butt, but are just extremely young. Maybe it would piss them off and since most haven't RSed yet they say screw you I'm out of here. They would still have their two or three years of eligibility left.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:29 PM ^
Who, on the current team, has won 9 games in a season? Nobody is going to leave over something as trivial as a recruiting tactic. If they do, then they lack the mental toughness to compete for a spot anyway.
February 9th, 2011 at 6:26 PM ^
glad to see that Hoke is going after these kids. Here's hoping for a great class in 2012 and for years to come. Once the world sees that we are stable again I think recruiting should get a lot easier.
February 9th, 2011 at 6:33 PM ^
As I've mentioned before, I'm not a fan of small corners.
However, for whatever it's worth, Richardson looks like the best midget corner of recent Cass Tech vintage. I wasn't a fan of Cissoko, Mathis, or Hollowell, but I'm okay with the offer to Richardson. He's more of a playmaker than the other three, IMO.
February 9th, 2011 at 9:07 PM ^
In your opinion what makes him a better playmaker? Is it his speed, hips, coverage ability or something else?
February 9th, 2011 at 7:48 PM ^
Good for these two. Richardson looks to be on the smaller, but he looked very quick/fast and seems to have great ball skills. RJS seems to have a great frame & athleticism to be a good player at the next level.
Congrats to both of these young men and I hope to see them both wearing a winged helmet in the future!
GO BLUE
February 9th, 2011 at 8:36 PM ^
Keep them coming, keep them coming !!!!
February 9th, 2011 at 9:21 PM ^
I hear ND, USC, and Miami might follow.
Our telling him that he was already offered seems a bit awkward. We need to bring this kid in now. I don't understand how we meet personally with Richardson but place a call for Stone. This just seems a bit odd.
February 9th, 2011 at 9:27 PM ^
Richardson was already going to Ypsilanti for a track meet, so a meeting was convenient. Stone doesn't run track.
February 9th, 2011 at 9:28 PM ^
And we weren't going to offer one without offering the other at the same time. RJS did say earlier on that he'd spoken to Brady Hoke today on the phone.
