Post-Game Open Thread (Keep Opinions Here)
As a favor to the mods, I would suggest everyone put their gripes and VERY IMPORTANT PERSONAL OPINIONS in this one place for everyone's sake. It didn't happen after PSU and the tailspin the board took afterwards made nobody happy.

despite the MSU kicker obviously kicking the ball to at least the goal line on almost every kick, on kickoff return number 7 in the game, our guy was STILL F'ing backpeddling to catch the ball at the goal line.
This is simply another example of the horrendous coaching that the special teams has received.

I am surprisingly not angry at Rodriguez for destroying the program I have loved since my childhood. What I feel is...tired. I have seen enough. Mercy David. Mercy.

and looking at the last three years, it has been pretty bad. I know the last couple of Carr years weren't great, but everyone kept waiting for that "Third year" charm RR had at WVU and it didn't come.
Shambles. The month long prep didn't help them and they looked confused on D today.

But I'm guessing change will lead to very heavy attrition. My bitching and worrying won't change a damn thing, so I'll do what I always do any just support Michigan whenever I can. Hopefully the basketball squad can take care of Penn State tomorrow.

And after today's game, the I believe Brandon is going to do the same to RR and his staff....

I don't often agree with you, Geaux and I often like Big Redacted, but that pic is really, really awful.
I am not the kind to close my eyes, but I wish I had never seen it.

I can barely tell what the picture is, what the hell is that yellow stuff?
Can someone tell me?

it's not about being an attention whore. It's simply playing upon the irritating cat pic theme to illustrate a point. Granted you have an issue with me as I seem to REALLY get under your skin but you need to really stop obsessing about what I post. It's really creepy.
January 1st, 2011 at 9:26 PM ^
I'm sorry BR, I generally like you, but I fail to see the point you are trying to illustrate.
Would you be kind enough to explain?
The pic you're using is disturbing.
January 1st, 2011 at 9:34 PM ^
is the flip side of all the cat/caption pics. UM/RR is that cat and UM/RR just got slaughtered and burned. The symbolism is that RR and this team as we know it is toast. The RR experiment is done with imho. I was all for RR getting a 4th year but RR and UM are not a good fit. Sure, UM had a top 10 Offense but that was based on one kid. And all the negative crap that has surrouned this staff has become a cancer to the UM brand. I have no idea what Brandon will do but if he called me, I'd tell him to contact JH's agent faster than it takes to bake a Domino's pizza. And if the pic offends you, I apologize. Being the attention whore that I am, I sometimes get too immersed in my own brilliance. :)

I'll be depressed either way. I think RR gave everything he had. On the other hand, I just don't think it's working and I don't want to spend one more second wondering why.
January 1st, 2011 at 5:23 PM ^
I want to take a tire iron to Mike Patrick's head, rip off his leg and beat Craig James to death with it. As if the game itself didn't suck enough, those two made it unbearable.

I really am. It just really makes me angry that all the people who have been calling RR a slimeball, a snake oil salesman in a wizard's hat (whatever that's supposed to mean), all the jerks out there on mlive, in the comments of articles in the freep, etc., will consider themselves right. Honestly, I really don't feel that much of a connection to the spread offense or Rich Rodriguez except that i wanted those people to be wrong. And I still think they are, but I can't say it. And from here on out I can't argue anything with them b/c they were right about him. That RR's offense can't work in the Big Ten/ against good defenses/ when I want it to seem not good.
So even though it's probably the right thing in the long run, I'm pissed off. I wanted them to have to eat their words. Instead, they can blurt out how they were fucking right and we were all fucking stupid for defending. And it pisses me off.
That's all I have to say.

that just about perfectly sums my opinion as well. I was so excited about the new blood, the Barwis stuff, the thought of players finally playing to their full potential, etc.
Instead, I just shrug. Were we that wrong?

we were just overreacting to the ultra-conservatism of the late Llloyd era. Turns out it maybe wasn't so bad. The house just needed some remodeling, it didn't need to be burnt to the ground.

If anyone still thinks RR should be the coach I would love to hear why.
January 1st, 2011 at 5:39 PM ^
He hasn't done enough to deserve being fired after only 3 years imho. Yes the defense is terrible, but the offense has been improving every year as has the team overall. He's dealt with too much shit to be blamed for everything that has happened. I'm a big advocate for giving college coaches 4 years to get their program running, especially when you're installing an entirely new system. While I understand the reasons against him staying, that's my reasoning to keep him for another year.
Gerg on the other hand...
January 1st, 2011 at 6:01 PM ^
Those are the most useless excuses I have ever read. A HC coaches the whole team not one side. If he does want to coach just one side then he needs to give free reign to the DC. I've heard so many stories about his arrogance once he got here and kept them to myself but he's a useless fuck who thought he walked on water and I'm happy to see him get ripped by the media on a constant basis. Keeps blaming Lloyd, never takes responsibility, "I need to look at the tape". If that last one isn't a sign that he's a shit coach I don't know what is. If he can't figure out what is going wrong without looking at tape then I guess no adjustments will be made and the team will continue to struggle.
January 1st, 2011 at 6:23 PM ^
When has RR been arrogant? Who said it? What "stories"? When has he EVER...and I mean EVER...blamed Lloyd for his current predicament? When has he ever said a loss was "not his fault". Reasons are not excuses, they're reasons. But he's the first to own up to his shortcomings here so far.
You know what's classy...calling a guy a "useless fuck" and a "shit coach". Very classy.
So please, GTFO. Forever. I don't want to hear from you again.
Go blue.

Urban Meyer sure seems like a nice guy but we know about the person he really is. I also think i'll stay and say whatever I want within reason bc I can. BYEEEEE
January 1st, 2011 at 5:42 PM ^
Everyone blames defense and special teams and they certainly suck. But why does Rich's baby, the offense with its perfectly suited QB, get a pass? 21 points in the last two games? A month to prepare and what happens? Going for it on 4th and 10 from the 35 but trying a field goal on 4th and 4 from the 20?

Sorry but the jig is up.
January 1st, 2011 at 5:27 PM ^
I remember posting over a month ago that this game doesn't matter and won't tell us anything different about RR. I was actually hoping to be proven wrong, but I was right. This is a sad day for our program and can only be remembered as failure. Let's just call a spade a spade here and say that the coaches, players, fans and boosters deserve better than this even if that means the program and RR goes their seperate ways.
January 1st, 2011 at 5:28 PM ^
...is that he ends up coaching Pitt.
January 1st, 2011 at 5:32 PM ^
Who really cares what happens to RR? He's shown that he is unable to coach. He can't even get the offense going with a months worth of prep time. If we can't get Harbaugh then it looks like we're stuck with the lame duck for another year.
January 1st, 2011 at 6:52 PM ^
I really cannot imagine any way DB could justify keeping RR after this.

Today is an all-time low for me as a UM fan. This was worse than App State because it just wasn't a fluke. We got blown out by a mid-level SEC team and we looked utterly unprepared, plus no answers were provided at any time during the game. Sure, this wasn't the most talented UM team, although alot of the younger players can be good. But this was about the entire team system and the quality of preparation.
The good thing about rock bottom is that everywhere you look is up. This loss should also unify our fan base as to the CC question.
January 1st, 2011 at 7:09 PM ^
for referring to Miss State as a mid level SEC team? You do realize that their four losses were to the top 4 teams in the SEC, right? Against the SEC's two BCS reps they suffered a double overtime loss to Arkansas and a 17-14 loss to Auburn.
Miss State might have been the best team we played this year, for all you know.
January 1st, 2011 at 7:49 PM ^
is absolutely NOT rock bottom. we are 7-6. do you remember that one time where we were 5-7? or that other time where we were 3-9?
things are decent right now. not good by anny means, but decent. i dont deny that a CC may be in order, but last time we had a CC we were much closer to rock bottom than we are right now
