2010 Schedule Wallpaper - Touchdown Jesus Says "No Good" - Game 2 Notre Dame
This week I've completely redrawn the top of Notre Dame's Hesburgh Library mosaic to make Touchdown Jesus signal "no good" (or incomplete). The stone textures and colors were all recreated using a reference photo of the original and have been enhanced for use on desktops, iPads and mobile phones.
The image below is a preview only. You can get this week's high resolution wallpaper at The Art. The Art. The Art!.
I am designing a new Michigan Football 2010 schedule wallpaper every Monday this season. I'm focusing the content of each wallpaper on Michigan's opponent and making widescreen, 4:3, iPad and mobile versions every week.
Why? Because I'm a little obsessed with Michigan football and a little obsessed with design and very obsessed with Michigan football-related design. Also, I wanted to always have the schedule handy. I decided to make a new wallpaper every week so that I wouldn't get sick of the same picture and am taking the "make fun of opponent mascot, history & tradition" approach because it is fun to make fun of opponents. I am making these public because I know of at least one person (other than my wife) who likes the idea. Feel free to pass on the link if you think anyone besides me, my friend and my wife will like this.

Awesome!

Don't get me wrong, the Notre Dame one is awesome, but I would prefer to use the Week 3 wall paper leading up to the Week 3 game.

Thanks for the positive comments on the wallpapers. I planned to showcase the Week 3 wallpaper too, but felt bad about dominating the "New" Diaries tab on the main page. Also, with the lingering afterglow of week 2 I think that the ND wallpaper still has some relevance.
What do you think? Is it acceptable in this blog's culture to post another Diary so soon with some explanation and background on the Week 3 wallpaper, or will I be calling down upon myself the lightning bolts of mgoScorn? Should I be posting a new Diary each week with the new wallpapers or cramming them all into one Diary?

As long as the material is solid, which it is, I don't care who posts it or how often one poster is posting.

Yeah, if you're making stuff this good, post it without hesitation.

I tried to down load this for my mobile - iphone - all it opened was a new web browser. Since i was born in the early 70s I am not soo tech savy here... what's the scope?

If you touch and hold your finger on the picture, you should be given the option to save the picture. Then in the settings you can set it as the wallpaper

Good work - classy and clever

though the UMass wallpaper makes me want to knock on all the spare wood I can find around the house.

A little voice in my head warned me about following through on the cupcake concept but I don't get the chance to design with pastel blues and pinks very often so I went for it. How nice was the Virginia Tech loss? I think I heard someone on TV say that it was a bigger upset than that one game we all still feel in our bones. Not sure I agree but nice to have a few other big programs to share in the shame.

An iPad app would be great, though the site looks decent on iPad already.

Those are really funny. Nice work. Great quality too.

How are you editing/designing these? As in what program are you using?

I'm glad you like the wallpapers. I'm using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to manipulate source photos (usually inexpensive stock photography). The Touchdown Jesus image was traced in Illustrator and then hand-textured and colorized in Photoshop. I've been considering a series of posts on my blog about how the images are made. If you are interested I will let you know if/when I do that.

Wow. These are really fantastic. Do you have any for the season in general? I'd like to have one that I can use for an extended period.

I wasn't planning on designing a general season wallpaper, but last Saturday I was caught up in the Michigan football hype and started on an overall season concept to satisfy a creative itch. The hours are piling up but I'm about halfway done. On Monday I'll be releasing the Bowling Green wallpaper AND something special to fill the overall season gap. I hope you like it.

I think I first learned of them from this site, and every Monday is like Christmas for me now. Thanks for all of the hard work and sharing it for free.

I usually try to finish these before gametime on Saturday (in case of loss by team and my resulting loss of motivation) but never put them on my devices before they go live on the site, so Monday feels like Christmas to me too. I'm glad you like them; you're welcome. It is nice to be able to offer something that the community enjoys.

that's really nice work monumental. high five.

But I'd rather smash it: plate, doily and the end table with a sledge hammer.

I just went to pull up the site and saw that all of this happened.
Now I can understand that there maybe an issue with the Denard action figure, which is completely amazing by the way, but there should be no issue with posting the weekly game wallpaper.
You should be able to post the others without any problem. If you are concerned then do not use the M logo, and just say Michigan instead.
Despite being in law school, I really hate lawyers.
