Colorado @ Ohio St. 2011
A classic Big 10 / Pac 12 showdown at The Horseshoe in 2011: Colorado @ Ohio State
August 24th, 2010 at 1:57 PM ^
Odds on him coaching this game?
August 24th, 2010 at 1:59 PM ^
That 1.4 million will pay down the debt Colorado takes on to fire him.
August 24th, 2010 at 2:02 PM ^
75%? I really think in most circumstances he would have been fired, but I heard they just can't afford his buyout right now, which is also interesting considering I heard that well before the buyout Colorado had to pay the Big 12 to break out and join the Pac 10.
August 24th, 2010 at 6:58 PM ^
will be able to buy him out. Maybe a big booster/alum will pony up the dough after this sure to be terrible Buffs team.
Kudos to both teams for scheduling a BCS non-conference opponent.
August 24th, 2010 at 2:00 PM ^
Hes a dead man walking in Boulder.
August 24th, 2010 at 2:01 PM ^
Figures! The Buffs need all the cash they can get to finance the Big 12 buyout.
August 24th, 2010 at 2:05 PM ^
Dear God, the Buffs are going to get slaughtered.
August 24th, 2010 at 2:05 PM ^
How about Mike Leach coaching the Buffaloes next year in the Shoe. He can talk about "Fat little girlfreinds making the trip to the Shoe"
August 24th, 2010 at 2:08 PM ^
What a way to challenge yourself their, that game will be over at the half.
August 24th, 2010 at 2:13 PM ^
I'll gladly take a PAC-10 team on our non-conference schedule, thank you very much.
August 24th, 2010 at 2:23 PM ^
I agree.
Is San Diego St. in the Pac 14 yet?
August 24th, 2010 at 2:32 PM ^
I agree. Ohio State should really look into scheduling somebody with a pulse, like Oklahoma, USC, Texas, Tennessee, Miami (YTM), Virginia Tech, or California. Or UCONN, whichever.
August 24th, 2010 at 2:41 PM ^
Hey you, Buckeye.
Stop using facts goddamit.
August 24th, 2010 at 2:45 PM ^
This is OSU's 2nd game next year. They play @Miami next year. So play Colorado a former Big 12 power on a downturn or Bowling Green or whatever chum hits the turf. This is a good game for OSU...decent amount of name recognition against a down program the exact opposite of UConn a team with no national cache and they are actually pretty good.
We hate OSU but their scheduling has been admirable. 1 high profile home and home against the best of the best, usually a middling game like Navy or NC state that is at least watchable and then 2 shit cans. That's better than 80-90% of the teams....I'd say Florida St and most of the Pac 10 do a better job at scheduling and that's it.
The ND series has stymied UM's schedule a little bit over the last 5 or 6 years, but we used to do 1 high profile home and home plus ND, but money has ruined that for the most part.
August 24th, 2010 at 3:51 PM ^
you guys really need to stop using ND as excuse for why your OOC schedule sucks
August 24th, 2010 at 5:13 PM ^
Go eat some Lucky Charms.
August 24th, 2010 at 5:26 PM ^
Then we can stop complaining.
August 24th, 2010 at 6:23 PM ^
11 days and counting, or maybe its 375, but who's really counting?
August 24th, 2010 at 9:30 PM ^
You are, you, and ESPN.
August 24th, 2010 at 9:08 PM ^
blaming you when it stops being your fault
August 24th, 2010 at 4:24 PM ^
Hey, UM also scheduled Washington back in 2003. Thy had a pulse, right?
But yeah, OSU is kicking UM's butt (and pretty much everybody else nationally) when it comes to scheduling big OOC games. I will say with respect to Miami (YTM), that game may be trading higher because of the names involved and not as much the actual quality of the team.
August 24th, 2010 at 5:18 PM ^
UM has scheduled good home and homes with teams throughout the past 10-15 years on top of playing ND every year. There were series against Washington, Oregon, UCLA and Colorado. We also played lower level BCS teams like Vandy. I don't like the proliferation of MAC-rifices and Baby Seal U's either, but I wouldn't say OSU is kicking our butt in the scheduling dept. I think we are in the top 25% of teams when it comes to competitive OOC schedules.
August 24th, 2010 at 6:11 PM ^
Actually, I think UM is doing OK (not great...) in scheduling OOC games. I would be really interested (but not interested enough to do it myself) in seeing a moving average of team OOC opponent records over the past decade. OSU wouldn't be the top (that's probably USC), but they would be pretty high up there (top 25 ish, best guess). I would put UM somewhere around 25, just hazarding a guess.
August 24th, 2010 at 6:30 PM ^
Look, OSU has done a good job of scheduling home-and-homes with top teams (USC, Texas, and Miami), but outside of those 6 games, they've played a whole lot of nobody OOC, and never in the last 10 years have they played 2 even decent OOC teams in the same season. Their one tough game may be as good as any other OOC opponent, but they never had another OOC game that was even worth watching.
UM is not the top team in the country when it comes to OOC scheduling, but they've had ND on the schedule every year, and many years they've seen teams like Washington (when they were good), Oregon, and Utah on top of that.
August 24th, 2010 at 9:28 PM ^
I'd agree, the annual battle for Ohio doesn't do too much for OSU. I wonder if their (and other Big 10 schools) strategy will change once there are nine conference games. Home and home series don't pay as well as body bag games.
August 24th, 2010 at 9:24 PM ^
Yeah, OSU has done a great job of scheduling a marquee game each season. It's my only beef with the Notre Dame series, most schools only want one game high-level OOC game per season and that's Michigan's, whether or not ND sucks.
August 24th, 2010 at 2:08 PM ^
Dan Hawkins seemed to be such an up and coming coach after his time in Boise. His total failure at Colorado is sad. I think its time for him to head to Intramurals brother.
August 24th, 2010 at 2:09 PM ^
we Kordell those pricks.
August 24th, 2010 at 9:21 PM ^
Who's we?
August 24th, 2010 at 2:10 PM ^
OSU is setting up the national title run of all national title runs. Should be no question that they could be in the MNC with 1-2 losses. That's 2 BCS teams in Colorado and Miami (Toledo and Akron also on the docket).
August 24th, 2010 at 2:13 PM ^
with SOS than say Michigan travelling to Toledo to play them.
August 24th, 2010 at 2:34 PM ^
The Colorado game is in Columbus. The Miami (YTM) game is on the road.
August 24th, 2010 at 2:13 PM ^
this is great news. Bye Dan. It hasn't been that great knowin ya.
August 24th, 2010 at 2:15 PM ^
I wish we had payed UCONN 1.4 million to be done with it and not have to travel to New England for the 2nd game. I would be great to see our home and home games in future be against some big time schools.
August 24th, 2010 at 2:20 PM ^
Tony Clemons.
Fast forward, recap:
Although OSU pretty much manhandled Colorado, it was definately the coming out party for Toney Clemons. He sliced and diced the OSU defense for 15 catches, including a couple picks. He definately was handicapped by the Michigan offense, since he clearly is an all american type receiver. Had Michigan been able to see it, they simply would not have let him go. He is super fast, athletic, etc. In fact. his forty tiem went from like 4.70 at Michigan to 4.3! Just changing schoold literally did this!
August 24th, 2010 at 3:37 PM ^
What is your native language?
August 24th, 2010 at 9:13 PM ^
but if he was an all-american type player Michigan wouldn't have had to notice. He would have made Michigan notice. He didn't.
August 24th, 2010 at 2:24 PM ^
A classic battle? Sure. If it were 1995. But these days? Not so much.
Bucks-58 Colorado-10
August 24th, 2010 at 7:04 PM ^
I don't know, OSU could potentially lose a lot from the 2010 squad. I'm sure that make the score more like 56-12
August 24th, 2010 at 11:13 PM ^
Point taken, but I'm pretty sure we would all be pleased if UM scheduled CO for a home non conference game
August 24th, 2010 at 2:29 PM ^
Breakout player of game: Tony Clemons, 6'4" 235 pounds, 4.3, athletic as hell!
August 24th, 2010 at 5:04 PM ^
Colorado is a fossil of a program. Only when they were led by former UM assistant Bill McCartney were they a national power. I'm not sure they'll ever recapture that brief glory.
August 24th, 2010 at 7:00 PM ^
Classic? Yea... Colorado hasn't been relevant since Barnett decided to poke fun at a female kicker he accepted onto the team.
August 24th, 2010 at 9:52 PM ^
As a CU alum, in lieu of not making bowl games with any regularity I look forward to the almost annual upsets (Oklahoma, Kansas, WVU) the Buffs have been pulling off. As a UM alum, I hope this is one of them.
August 25th, 2010 at 12:29 AM ^
Why don't they just play Cincinnati?
